You don't have to find jack shit. I've never collected the 100 feathers in AssCreed II. It sounds obnoxious and boring. I've done the same with countless games. It's optional content for a reason. You literally get nothing from finding the seeds, it's there for the absolute most autistic people so they can explore the world. Beating all the shrines to get the (very underwhelming) Wild set is the actual completionist sidequest. The Korok seed shit doesn't even matter, anyways, it's definitely not what factored into me considering BotW a disappointment. The overabundance of combat shrines definitely did.
There's no such thing as optional content, everything must be completed so the game can be judged as a whole.

That would drop nearly every game ever made a couple points, especially open world games. The remake of Resident Evil 2 is one of my favorite recent games, I've beaten it 8 times and counting, but I'm never going to speedrun the game to get cool gats, shoot all the Mr. Raccoons, or play and beat all the Tofu Survivor variants. I love GTA IV, but I'm never going to do the dumb pigeon shootathon. I don't think that makes these games worse, they're still 9/10 games in my eyes.

That's the point, it would stop bad game design practices and also not have resources allocated towards pointless modes.

Kind of like how God of War Ascension had multiplayer and other bullshit they decided to axe in the next installment.

There's the absurd argument that journos don't even have to finish a game to review it, but I think you're going a bit too far in the other direction. Some people like finding peyote plants in GTA V or Cigarette Cards/Legendary Animals in RDR2. I'm not going to fault them for it. The actual part of the game that I beat was good, that's all that matters.

the kojima dynasty is about to end
Do we have first day/week numbers to compare?

There's Spiderman, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn which all did well.

Then there's Gravity Rush 2 which didn't.

That's the metric of success, I just can't find reliable numbers for those games though. DS to make ran about the same as Sony's other big games, it wasn't signifigantly more expensive IIRC.

I am excited to play this even after the reviews, I want to see what Kojima can do without Konami, I hope its good at the very least I hope I hope its better than it looks so far. People have been wanting a new game experience so why not an amazon delivery man sim

Will this game essentially be the equivalent to 4'33" in the music world? Its a game, but its not played for fun, its played to struggle and work through. Its a post-ironic oxymoron that's an artistic analysis on gaming.

That's Everquest.

Dude, the fun is that you're not having fun.

That's Everquest.
Yeah, but Everquest threw you into a strange world and let you get lost in it with engrossing abilities and the desire to grow in power. This... you just explore an empty land where you have to deliver packages, but that's made a struggle with the "games" core mechanics of realism and balance. It just doesn't sound investing, it sounds like a job.

Some pretty strong opinions in this thread, opinions regarding a game nobody's played.

Real talk the mundanity of this game appeals to me

There’s been some twitter drama shit regarding how “”””political””””” the MGS games and Death Stranding really are. Pictures like this have been making the rounds where the “heh, gamers” crowd is trying to insinuate that not only is Kojima political but he’s also a communist.

EDIT: if you have to start treating the character who’s known to constantly lie and manipulate people and spew out bullshit to get others to trust him as the official mouthpiece of the creator of the game then you probably don’t know what you’re talking about

goddamn i love love love how these people literally fall in step with what fucking kojima predicted. they're in completely different camps unable to entertain different ideas only holding their own to be the absolute truth. Nobody is wrong, but nobody is right. Comfortable in their "truth."
