Kojima needs to donate his brain to science when he dies. His thought process is so fucking surreal and bizarre.

why is no-one talking about that shit at the end?

"I'll show you the real thing soon... I promise. The whole-wide world will be yours to explore. You'll be able to go where-ever you want... even the moon."

WHY IS NO-ONE TALKING ABOUT WHAT THIS NIGGA' DONE SAID??????
It's probably sam in the ludens suit.

All this talk about the past and showing WW1 units. I swear if this shit takes place in Normandy, which it honestly kind of looks like.

I'm not sure about the game. MGS could have really complex stories because the gameplay was simple as shit. You only had to remember the story in between sessions. This game does look relatively simple; survival inventory, invisible-man vision, some gadgets. But hope it doesn't go full-on Apeshit to the point sitting down drains your soul every time, having to forget all the mechanics of other games and readjust to those of Death Stranding.

So 'stranding' is both strands (of something) and beaches. They repeatedly mention "the other side", and something about history. It may very well be two wars happening on the same piece of land; one dude the ability to connect and affect both. I also liked how they just randomly tossed in the president, cause as we all know, Kojima loves his fucking "NEW WORLD ORDER, MR PRESIDENT" stories.

After seeing some of the gameplay, I think it looks decent. Definitely got some MGS5 vibes from some of it.

As for the plot, eh, I'm optimistic. Hideo usually has some pretty weird concepts and he's not afraid to go balls to the walls with them, but I don't think they are as incomprehensible as people make them out to be. In universe, Hideo is usually good about explaining stuff through very long cutscenes. Again, it's usually weird concepts that use comic book logic at best, but I think that's fine. I can suspend my disbelief for concepts like viruses that transmit through language, nanomachines son, air dropping horses, dudes covered in bees, and ghost arms that are actually just someone convincing themselves they are someone else.

I think what makes his games fun is he takes those out there concepts, treats them seriously, and dials them up to 11. I admit I only got basic story beats from the trailer, but I think that is perfectly fine for a trailer. I'm in the camp of the less spoilers in a trailer, the better. And again, with Hideo I expect there are some lengthy cutscenes to better explain everything. There will still probably be weird shit for the sake of having weird shit, but I don't think everything needs an explanation in his game, especially if it isn't related to the plot in some way. Again, dude covered in bees. I vaguely remember a codex call explaining it, but I was willing to accept that was just a thing that existed in the universe.

All that being said, this is Hideo unchained, so it's possible he's breaking out of the mold of previous storytelling methods. For as many crazy story ideas he has, he also usually has cool gameplay ideas, so it's not a case of someone like David Cage who has no idea what a video game is supposed to be and just fails to use the medium effectively. With Hideo, I'm expecting a fun to play game set in weird but cool universe with nonsensical ideas that make minimal sense but work in the weird universe. And lengthy cutscenes.

The engine looks extremely similar to the MGS V engine. Wich I think is great, the Fox Engine was really good and I was sad Konami was keeping it locked up somewhere.

Do we know if there's any of the same people working on this game? Besides Kojima.

He’s using HZD’s engine, I can definitely see the parallels, this kinda looks like if HZD went on a meth binge

My understanding is that it’s using the same engine that Horizon: Zero Dawn used, with improvements from Kojima presumeably taking every goddamn tech that worked on the Fox Engine with him.

Kojima has made a big brained story to intentionally prove that story doesn't matter in games.

this is why the trailer focuses on the gameplay. Oh yeah you get sent to an alternate dimension when you die where you have to fight your way out of an eternal never ending war, does the fucking story matter at that point? no because if you don't fight your way back out you can't continue the game. You will stop looking at the main character as a character but more of a vehicle to overcome obstacles.

Also there's Homo Demons.

All I see is the adventures of Norman Reedus video game look alike. The baby part was creepy.

Interesting to go back and watch all the previous teasers with some of the context included from this one. (Baby disappearing into Hades in #1, ACTUAL Hades in #2, Sam being part of the "enemy" at one point in #3?)

Those first few seconds with the fucking baby freaked me the hell out.

I'm really curious to see how this turns out. My impression from all the announcement trailers was that this was going to be some sort of horror game, like Silent Hills without actually being Silent Hills. Meanwhile you have this trailer that has robotic power armors and shit, which indicates a much different world than the one I envisioned when I saw those trailers years ago.

Also, I am shocked the game has a release date of November of this year. I didn't think we would get it for another year or so, but here we are.
