I liked the first one. I used it as my "break game" that I played when I periodically had enough of the games I play regularly. Not powering through it makes the surface of the Kojima plot tolerable, but I enjoyed a lot of the themes and the characters of Sam's crew. My favorite parts of the game were when you're expanding towards the later parts of the second map without a lot of assistance.

I find that playing the game online ruins the experience by rendering a big number of mechanics completely irrelevant, turning the game into a cakewalk.

I also don't really hate the game - I wish the plot wasn't such pretentious nonsense and that the game had more STALKER DNA to it, but it's an enjoyable enough experience that tries to make the process of moving boxes from point A to point B be engaging.

has been funny how the reviewers twist themselves into a pretzel to not call kojima a fucking hack
Razorfist is a 100 percent on the money with kojima. I'm more charitable in that I think he rips shit off in interesting ways but he's not that great without the right team.

I kinda admire how he admitted in an interview to making the DS2 story more divisive because too many people liked it, but something tells me sony's not going to like that.

kojima bros are we so back? Memes aside I actually really like death stranding and i'm hoping i'll like DS2 once it hits PC. Low roar did kinda carry the ambiance for the first game though, the lead singer having unfortunately passed away no longer makes that tenable. Woodkid does seem like a good pick though and I think silent poets are there as well.

Some of us remember the MGSV IGN days... where IGN gave a literal unfinished game a perfect and complete 10/10........ all while unironically having sitewide banner-to-banner advertisements for said MGSV... I think Sony's bribe budget is likely even greater than Konami's was.

So it really is a post-apocalyptic amazon wagie simulator? lol.

I've been playing the "game" recently (thank you Timmy Tencent for the free copy), it's a re-skin of Metal Gear: Survive, but with even less story.
Also I finally got to that part:

"He was a man, an orange... man, Orange Badman!"
One of the big problems I had with the first game is that it had this extremely dark, serious, and somber narrative that is constantly undermined by shitty comedy as you deliver pizzas and funko pops while npcs deliver shitty jokes and hilarious "ironic" observations via com like it's Borderlands or something.

Wubba dub dub dub Mortaaaay!

I hope they got rid of that shit.
Death Stranding has the perfect gameplay loop for a dad game, but it gets absplutely ruined by it's fart huffing main narrative and the tonal whiplash that you mention. It really is a game that would have benefitted from a comedic spirit a lot more.

unfinished game
I still don't understand why people still think this. We have the intended game. Unused ideas doesn't mean it's unfinished. He had five or so years on that PS2 level wasteland sim and the final product was relatively bug free. He didn't build that game out of trying to push boundaries in the industry, something the game didn't do at all. He did it to ingratiate himself with Hollywood circles. He took so long on it that he charged $20 to play the demo lol. It's baffling why his reputation didn't fall to pieces then.

What a wonderful idea to throw Hayter in the garbage for alky Sutherland who barely spoke. Even Konami recognizes the importance of Hayter and has been at the forefront of the Delta promos.

I like how literally every single review of this slop is ten paragraphs of "wow this pan flute and ukulele soundtrack is fucking incredible!" Or "wow the sweat around Norman Reedus's butthole is so realistic!"

It's very telling how hard they try to avoid mentioning the gameplay.

When it's the Kojima cult, it's because they cannot accept that Kojima has no concept of how an open world works or any desire to actually make a fun open world.

When it's normies, it's just cause the game is fucking boring and empty as shit.

#Theraped are not happy about Fragile's ass. Norman Reedus's ass presumably fine.
