Is the real twist going to be that the reason why Kojima thrived and succeeded was because he had to find creative ways to work within and around Konami's restrictions? I guess we'll find out if this ever gets released, but I have a feeling that a large percentage of Kojima cultists are going to be throwing around the adage "I'd rather have an ambitious failure" as a consolation if this turns out to be an ungainly mess.

I seriously doubt Death Stranding isn't going to make back its budget and win all of the awards ever in existence. Kojima games are weird but they're not the Suda51 kind of weird which generates mixed commercial and critical reaction.

I was going to say, "you mean the good kind of weird?" but I know what you're saying. Kojima's games might not always be as interestingly bizarre as Suda's, but they're always much more "gamey." (Meaning, focusing on rock solid mechanics and the gameplay that emerges from them.) Only then does he diverge into weirdness, while Suda will start from a place of weirdness and make that the main focus. (And bless him for it, though he does very little of it now that he's wasting his creative talents as CEO, and though Grasshopper has been creating increasingly traditional games since NMH1.)

There's no question in my mind the core gameplay of Death Stranding will be enjoyable. Kojima's biggest strength as a developer is consistently delivering fun-to-play games, but people focus on the interesting miscellany he layers on top of gameplay.

I'm personally willing to shit my entire life-savings on copies of this game to see that outcome avoided. If Death Stranding is a fraction the experience PT was, then it can't fail. Hopefully Hideo doesn't sit on the project forever and gamers see a pre-2020 release, but I have a feeling he's waiting on the PS5 to showcase his work. Guess we'll see...

 
Newest trailer came out, with a bit of gameplay included. Still not really sure what the fuck it's about but it looks interesting?
 
I like the gameplay, it's very Metal Gearesque.
This game has a huge hype built around it. I have a feeling it will not reach those high standards everyone is expecting of it and it won't do well. Same as Cyberpunk.
 
I was told Kojima is actually a trans-positive communist who agrees with whatever leftist twitter is saying all the time. Why would they go back and change his art? I thought you had to be media literate to get Death Stranding. Why are these people complaining about the messages in the original release?

Also, what fat sexless tranny faggot at Sony of America added this in? Was it somebody that got laid off recently? It'd be funny if Kojima did it himself, but I doubt it.

It's so cool that asexuals, the literal absence of sexual desire, are lumped in with fags and trannies. It really is this sort of Gilligan's Island "and the rest" situation with sexual minorities. Intersex people, which is a legitimate medical condition in which a lot of intersex people are angered about having surgeries done to them as babies/kids to "fix" the issues without their consent, are lumped in with LGBT people for some reason too? And the "Intersex Pride" flag looks like if Dr. Manhattan played for the Lakers? Why?

How the heck is Kojima Productions not bankrupt when they have one game of middling quality that didn't even sell very well that they've released in the entirety of their existence?

I believe the pc port actually sold fairly well.
