Anyone got the sales numbers for the remake yet?
It's not even been a week (barely 4 days!), give them a little more time before they release how it's selling.
Although these are the player numbers right now in Steamdb:

i wanted to ask, how did you feel about the spec opcs compared to the original? i was under the impression they seem WAY stronger and I haven't heard anyone else talk about them.
They can stunlock you pretty bad if you let them, had some close calls but dodge rolling toward them seemed to help since I mainly took care of them with skill moves.

Altho you are right that we should wait longer, I must say that these numbers are already not looking good. The peak was okay but it has only been going down since and we arent even counting possible refunds that were had once those living under a rock realized the game has been censored to shit. And what Im hearing about the sales numbers is that they are really really nothing to write home about, around 1.4 million dollars at launch and I doubt the physical releases will really save those numbers.
So while I cant write this game as a flop just yet, I can say that the tides arent turning favorably to Capcom atm.

The funny thing is that they can screech on articles and steam reviews and forums how the censorship doesnt matter but there is seems to be a slow but steady silent shift against woke garbage in gaming as this year was just full of woke failures and this game might as well join the pile. Most people boycotting this arent having arguments on online, they just arent buying.
There is also a small fact that DR isnt as big of a household name as Resident Evil is. The franchise hasnt been relevant since the very early Xbox one days and DR 4 being such a comical failure really tainted its reputation, especially to possible new comers. Its not a niche game but its certainly nothing that cant fail by brand name alone...it really needed the aid of the veterans and a good chunk of them just wont bother for obvious reasons.

Its my hope that, with this flop or major underperformance at best, capcom will finally pull the plug on DR and let it rest in peace permanently. How sad is that I have reached a point in my life where Im so jaded and cynical that I legit find joy in my favorite franchises dying because I can now enjoy them for what they were and not what they became. Modern audiences wont grieve for them, it never meant anything to them, but their real fans will.

I'd have to agree. The only difference for Dead Rising is that I actually bought the original on Steam cause I figured the devs might pull it like Ubisoft did for Beyond Good and Evil. Still holds up really well and I started playing the second, which I never did back in the day.

The stuff about the Chinese studio coming to light explains basically everything and it's sad to hear; the removal of erotica, Cheryl's less revealing clothing, Cliff's changed lines, and the whitewashing of Larry just fit.
What does a Chinese studio imposing censorship or aesthetic changes with a remake have to do with "woke?" I thought Chinese does not play by "woke" cultural standards. Hell, they don't even allow Black people to be front and center in marketing or advertising.

This is what happens when you remake a game of an already sort of niche IP you've left to the dust. I gurantee the same fate awaits SH2 remake and other future remakes of games people already played and loved. Unless game remakes fundamentally make their original redundant they usually serve as a side thing at best. I'm pretty sure CAPCOM knew this remake wouldn't be another RE but they were making it anyway just to do something with the IP since enough fans have bitched about it for years. Weird how it was outsourced to Neoboards though, really says everything about how little they gave a shit about reviving DR. I was expecting more people to defend this game and have huge hype around it but its kind of underwhelming. I guess its also since most people didn't see the need for this to exist and the original was already available. This remake doesn't have much love in it in my opinion, seems like it was made out of obligation or to fulfill quotas and scrape a few dollars from starved dead rising fans in an effort to get extra funding for whatever they're doing next.

CCP dislikes exposed skin and boobs IIRC, that's why some games and gachas have special versions for mainland China where the ladies are more covered up. Didn't Genshin cause some controversy because a patch made some characters show less skin?

Imo the only thing better about the game was the basic gameplay. Skill moves are much easier to pull off. Almost everything else was not as good. Not to mention the censorship. Putting fast forward into the game was lame. Being able to save and suspend your infinity mode run would have been enough.

100%ed the original and the remake. I don't really recommend this until it goes on a very deep discount. Very forgettable remake.

I played a bit of the Dead Rising Remake and it its fine there is a lot of stuff that just make it better than the original imo. I do think its not worth $50, $60 if you bought the deluxe edition. It should just be $40, $30 at best. I do understand the frustration with the censorship but I wouldn't be surprised if someone makes a mod that fixes these issues.

Overall not bad so far however I do not recommend getting it at the price it is. Get it when its on sale or for on key store.

Skill moves are much easier to pull off
Is that a good thing? I was under the impression that the whole point of skill moves was so that you could master them, which requires skill, but if you did you could potentially never be vulnerable even without a weapon, or perhaps you wouldn't even need one. It's entirely possible to finish DR1 with just your fist and optionally a spitfire.
list of infinity mode changes, if anyone's curious.

- Basic OG rules still apply. Mall food does not re-spawn and Frank's health constantly drains, when you die it's perma death. Zombie aggression is at its max.

- Frank's watch and camera are now enabled

- PP gain is now enabled, meaning a level 1 to 50 infinity mode run is now possible and all the normal methods to collect PP also function.

- The ability to "suspend" infinity mode has been added. When you suspend the game will save and then force you to quit, when you load you return where you left off and the last save gets deleted.

- Time can now be sped up at any save point. When you speed up time your health drain increases to match, so you still need to collect food to survive and stop speeding up time to eat.

- Survivor and psycho spawns are now randomized every run and so are their drops. They can also spawn past day 8 now and presumably rotate forever.

- Survivors and psychos appear on the map now after they spawn so you can make up routes on the fly

- Cultists and Special forces get added to the mix on day 3 and team up with the zombies

- Zombies, cultists and special forces have a chance to drop a box with a single item now. The item can be literally anything in the game including food, useless junk, rocket launchers, boss weapons, and even the heavy machine gun
That's actually very informative. Why didn't you just make posts like these or like one @Dickhorn Magnetbutter made instead of having an autism fit for a few pages?

I actually don't hate these changes. Seems like a natural evolution of Infinity Mode, which is very lacking and was probably made last minute in the original. In fact, my recent 7 day survivor(technically 8 day for me) was enough for a lifetime so I doubt I will ever play the mode again in any iteration, but hopefully somebody else can get a kick off of trying to replay the mode over and over again. Personally, I would have liked to see the hunger meter(health depleting) be made a toggle for the main game, would fit in well thematically with what Carlito talks about, but then again we know there is very little soul in this game to begin with. Why bother adding in more content with care and love if you're just out for a paycheck?
This still doesn't make the remake worth a buy on it's own when the original exists, and I still say that the original engine could theoretically do everything listed here, aside from maybe having a mini-map with enemies(scoops could pop up to inform the player of psychos and location could be viewed on the pause screen map but that's about the closest we can get in the original).

I think it was a good change. As someone who could pull them all off flawlessly, lot of the special moves were just awkward.

It depends move to move. It might just be me, but I think they were much more intuitive in Dead Rising 2, which is ironic considering how much of a hunk of meat Chuck is compared to Frank. I mostly used Double Lariat, Face Smash or the Karate Chop in DR1, occasionally the Football Tackle as well. While not an attack, Zombie Climbing is always fun as well and I am disappointed it hasn't come back(it might have in DR2:OTR but I would have to check). Too many skill moves were redundant, more awkward to pull off as you said and were unlocked too late.

man really waited 2 days to quote me again insulting me because he was too stupid to understand that I like to mod video games.

speakin' of modding video games, tons of script mods came out today, infinite weapon durability, no HP drain in infinity mode, and even some level changes like making mountains visible around williamette. some promising stuff. also yellow paint remover if for you guys with sensory overstimulation issues.

Modding is showing promise. The modding scene is literally the only hope I have for the demake.

Were there any major mods for RE4R? The ones that fixed it's problems? I haven't seen any, aside from model swaps and it's been a year. Somehow, I am not so optimistic.
it's the only reason to get the game. only thing it has over the original.
Demake has nothing over the original, as I said vast majority of these are very simple ones that could easily be ported over to the original. There is also much more in-depth ones for the original right now, like one that enables speed running or randomizes all your missions.

it's like trying to have a conversation and an autistic chimpanzee keeps throwing shit at me from across the street. is anyone else seeing this?
