Stipo made yet another video on how AMAZING the game is going to be, totally not suspicious and related to my last big post here(not linking it here because I don't want to give him anymore attention at this point). Just wait for him to be nothing but a shill hub for the game like every other "gaming channel" is when a new game comes out nowdays.
Funny how I don't see these kinds of posts on 4chan, it's mostly the same complaints already raised in this thread here, and I am inclined to believe these people actually played the game from the discussions that these threads have(it's so good to finally have an excuse to talk about Dead Rising on /v/ again)
There might be a group of people genuinely excited for this demake, but I am not going on social media or reddit/discord to find out. Those places are astroturfed to high hell anyways so who knows how genuine the support is anyways, I can only comment on what I see. One thing that is certain is that the only ones who are genuinely excited for the game are those who are blinded by nostalgia, have a really low bar of expectations(ie niggercattle consoomerists) or people who never played the game before and this whole Dead Rising things seems like a revolutionary idea.

Does anyone here have experience with Case West achievements? I found that there is a cool exploit at the start that lets you explore the entire facility for as long as you want, albeit without survivors or zombies. This would be perfect for easily getting achievements for things like breaking cameras or photographing PP stickers...except that I've also noticed that there is comments saying that nothing you do counts towards the achievements until you start Case 1-2, ie playing the game "normally" with a time limit and zombies. Can anyone confirm this? There is barely any documentation on this game, sadly.
Also, reminder that this game is STILL exclusive to the Xbox Live store, which is shutting down by the end of the month. After that, it's gone forever and you just don't know if Capcom will bother re-releasing it on Steam or newer consoles. Same goes for Case Zero(which grants you unique costumes for Dead Rising 2 as well)

Remake has alot of mixed bag unknowns but this song fucking rocks:

They took away my racially insensitive retarded butcher boss

That's really the problem: This isn't Marvel, this is Dead Rising. The track does not fit the setting and atmosphere at all, even if the song itself isn't that bad.
I guess that confirms that we will see a WACKY and ZANY comical Dead Rising that everyone hated like in Dead Rising 4. People forget that Dead Rising 1 felt like a horror game most of the time, what few moments there were to alleviate that(or if you created your own fun during downtime) didn't take away from the horrorshow going on in the background.

I just don't think they will be able to capture that feeling of dread with tracks like these, same goes with Psychos and the new original tracks. It just won't be the same, you can't recreate the convicts or Sean or Cliff or Steven without their iconic songs. Hell, all of Dead Rising was peak early 2000s, the whole mall is going to feel alien and foreign when they try to recreate that era 20 years later.
I still say that it's going to be a disaster purely based on the technical issues and downgraded graphics we've seen so far. The weird choice of music, censorship and removal of licensed tracks will just drag the game down more in case you actually enjoy it.

He's more of a Jack Scalfani, with all the raw meat around him and him being a little slow in the head.
Memes aside, I just don't think they will do Psychopaths justice either. The first thing we see is a raceswap, what else are they going to change?
The only thing they have going for the remake is being able to make the graphics look better than in the original and make the fights more dynamic than in the original. I heavily doubt they will be able to pull off the former from what we've seen so far, so I guess the actual gameplay is going to have to carry the whole experience.
Mind you, this is possible. Dead Rising 3 has a lot of issues, but what invalidates all of them is just how fun the game is. I don't care about weak timers or lack of survivors to escort when the main gameplay loop is taken to it's natural conclusion and you have non-stop seamless open world kino for the entire playtime. If they can make the game this addicting, then I might play it...
After it's been cracked. No way I am introducing Denuvo to my machine. It's going to have to be something special, just fixing the AI and making the game more fluid to play isn't going to cut it. I doubt Capcom has it in them, remember that this is the same studio that took one of the best third person shooters of all time and re-made it to be...just okay, inferior to the original in most ways and just barely able to stand on it's own. They have to do better than that.

Frank looks weird. He looks like a mashup of Dennis Leary and my neighbors kid
Hank East's redesign proves that art direction trumps graphic fidelity any day of the week. Every other character looks fine, but Frank West's redesign looks uncanny and distracting compared to his original 2006 look. Almost like AI generated "Frank West as a human being."

Okay, jokes aside, I hate how the RE engine just makes characters look unnaturally older. Some say its realistic but I say its just removing any chance for proper stylization.
It's a better direction than having females with no ass or tits, although the implementation was poorly executed as it takes away from the original artistic vision. The fun in Dead Rising came from the sandbox Capcom allowed for the player to experience a campy zombie outbreak.

Every other character looks fin
Every other character either looks like a potato(in case of Isabella) or 30 years older(in case of Brad). I have no clue what's going on with Jessie, frankly it looks like a man in a wig but that's more due to how poorly that model has been implemented rather than them trying to troonify her. Frank looks like he's straight out of a Marvel game, so I don't actually mind him that much(even the trailer track sounds straight out of Mahvel, so maybe it's intentional?). I do have a problem with how he sounds, however, and I have a feeling this won't be the last time I say this.
Survivors look okay, at least aside from covering up Cheryl, these just straight up look like the old characters with more polygons. This is what I expected out of the remake, why keep most of the NPCs the same but change how central characters look to make the whole thing weird and uncanny? They get the most screentime, after all.
I hope they don't ruin Carlito. Nu-Makarov from recent Modern Warfare remakes comes to mind: The original is an intimidating psychopath that starts WW3 and is set on glassing the entirety of Europe, his actions and words mirror that. New Makarov is, well...he was very flat, looked and sounded more like a manosphere grifter than anything. The story was so shit that what he did or didn't do barely mattered either, even Soap's death was just a fart in the wind rather than one of the more emotional moments of the original MW3 campaign.
makarov old vs new.jpg
Carlito carries the story, without him being an intimidating villain with rather human reasoning for what he's doing(arguably Justified, but you can say that about many NPCs and their actions, that's the core theme of the game: Everyone thinks they're Justified, but does it excuse what they've done?) I just don't see the story having the same impact. Without the overarching story, you just have a silly zombie game where you can crossdress and annoying timers.

Knowing Capcom I wouldn't put it past them to have done this on purpose just to make the pre-order 2006 skin more enticing to fans of the original game.

Well, that's good to hear. Maybe there is hope yet.
RE Engine is fairly moddable, at least RE4 was. I'm thinking that people will be able to mod in any potential changes crapcom makes anyways, so there is that.
It's still harder to patch out Denuvo, so we will see if the game is even worth playing(as no games with Denuvo are worth your time)

Looks ok so far. The change in design for the characters is always a negative for me. Its the same with the Bluepoint remakes of SotC and Demons Souls. They don't seem to understand the reason behind design choices. More polygons and higher resolution textures ≠ better looking games.

I also replayed the game last year on PC and it ran perfectly. I don't really see the need for a remake/remaster.

But most importantly if they change:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=lDeThz30JtQThey should all die a horrible death.
The DeS remake is a war crime. Turning boletaria from a clearly makeshift pile of metal, something hobbled together in hurry, something strictly utilitarian, into an oranatevictorian palace is an insult to the original. That first reveal trailer made me sick and I never played it because of that.

This just has me wondering wtf is happening with the new songs then, will beyond heaven just be in the regular rotation of mall music then? I know that's what they are doing with the dlc songs at least but beyond sounds way too energetic to fit with the rest of the music, maybe its just an attract video ost or something? still would love it playing in the background while using the real megabuster though.

Well, at least if it does well they might remake 2 next. I would be more charitable with a remake of that game since I never liked it as much as the first.

RE Engine is fairly moddable

each RE Engine game seems to be less modable than the last, but it's still pretty fucking moddable. DMC5 and RE4R were about on the same level, DD2 was a little less, but still easily got model/programming mods. so I expect DR to be a lil less, but still should be fine for model swaps and general touch ups. only bitch might be audio modding.

Holy shit, it's Jack Scalfani!
Honestly, I'm alright with this change since they both like to cook with rancid meat.

I honestly don't care about the remake.. I mean, shit, game is going on 20 years, that and Capcom is doing fuck all else.
"Game is going on 20 years"
Holy shit 2006 really is almost two decades ago (:_(
Didn't think about how much time has fly by, with even the first remaster coming out in 2016. I'm more surprised we didn't get dead rising 2 remaster since then.

There was a direct port to newer consoles and PC, similar to Dead Rising 1, however the physics are super fucked in that one and the game is buggier than the original releases. Not recommended, find an older gen 7 console copy of the games or try to find the original PC release of DR2.

It's actually funny how that I just realized how the Wii version of DR1 was very clearly on the RE4 engine and now this remake is going to be running on the same engine as the RE4 remake.
Not sure what the right term would be... ironic? Coincidental?

And both are going to be inferior to the real deal.
Time is a flat circle.
