TJ Rotolo or bust
If you can actually explore Willamette like you could in DR4 I might consider playing it, but other than that I cannot see how modern day Capcom could NOT screw this up somehow. They turned Resident Evil 4 into a mediocre game when all they had to do was copy their notes and add a few new features, Dead Rising has even more moving parts behind the scenes.
Edit: Watched the trailer. It looks awful, sounds awful, Frank looks awful too.
I can't wait to see Stipo's reaction to this

You don't understand, every game HAS to be made in Unreal engine with the same shitty graphics and gameplay as the other 90 AAA slop games made.

Cautiously optimistic about this.
Frank West resembles his TGS Look from 2005.
Not to mention it even sounds more inline with him than DR1 Frank and DR4 Frank.

I will say, like how he looks like marvel frank
otherwise skeptical shit, DR 1 was such a perfect mix it's like catching lightning in a bottle
also, frank jumping out of a helicopter dange style gives me DR 4 vibes and that worries me heavily

I think Capcom was too afraid to make a Resident Evil 5 remake so they skipped over to Dead Rising instead.

I've seen comments say that this is his look from Marvel vs Capcom Infinite...where he was voiced by TJ Rotolo yet he acted like the GOOFY Hank East from Dead Rising 4.
I doubt this is supposed to be a nod to the original design of Frank, if so why not give him his old outfit too?
As someone who played an unhealthy amount of DR1 and DR2 lately, I can say right now that there is only a few things that bothered me in the original, like the janky controls and retarded AI. ALL of these things were fixed in Dead Rising 2, that's the peak of the franchise. Aside from the AI, the original game still aged rather well even today, so unless they "modernize" it to play like DR3 or DR4, I don't even see what they can do with it.
Yes, the "humorous" tone is worrying. People forget that DR1 wasn't goofy, just like DR2 OTR and DR4 really wanted to retcon. It was a very dark game, downright a horror title at times, it did alleviate some of that by letting you dress up in outfits or throw a pie at a zombie's face, but it was still a rather grim game at the end of the day. I don't think this one will be anything like the original tone wise at all.
Stipo already reacted, but all he did was say "OH MY GOD". I wanna see if he will love it, pretend to love it with a twitching eye or publicly hate on it. He's pretty much THE Dead Rising 1 guy.

Personally, the graphics don't mean shit if the art direction is crap, and the new Frank is...a cheap knockoff, let's be honest. Why is a stunt double taking over for the star actor?

What's interesting is, it seems like they're trying to replicate the original game 1-1 to a surprising degree.
The Animations, and Camera angles, are basically 1-1 with the original, even some of the weird facial expressions from OG Frank remain
But honestly, as long as they keep the original Dead Rising on Steam then I ain't going to complain, I'm still glad it is not locked to the 360 anymore.

Yeah, I don't think I am going to be excited at all for this. I spend several dozen hours playing the original recently, that includes a session that went on for over 14 hours straight to get that 7 Day Survivor achievement. Not once did I think "What this needs is a modernized(read: shit) remaster!" What I did think about when I saw a kink with the original was "Thank god they fixed this in the next one". Off The Record exists and the original was the lightning in the bottle, we won't get anything new or revolutionary here. At best, we will get watered down slop that slightly resembles the original, like we've seen with nu-Resident Evil
I wouldn't be so sure, they will likely censor certain things. We didn't even get the "ballistics" line in nu-RE4 and Ada couldn't even wear her dress. I doubt we will see the return of survivors blowing their brains out or other really graphical scenes, hell we might not even get blowjobs from female zombies because that is "harmful imagery" or something.
I doubt the characters will stay intact either, and I don't just mean visual and VA changes. I bet someone will be black/female/gay for no reason and crapcom defense force will be shilling like no tomorrow, this is the post ESG Capcom we're talking about.
Oh and let's not forget denuvo either, we might not even be able to play the game offline. For all we know, some features will be cut out and sold as DLC.
I was hoping this IP would stay dead and forgotten with the current Capcom, let's see if my fears were justified.
Speaking of which, we've seen a new remaster of Justified(credits song) from the original composer released a few years ago. I wonder if this was actually meant for this project

ngl, seems like a hail marry announcement for the franchise because people have been saying how crazy the RE engine would be for rendering zombies on dead rising.
otherwise seems like it's the end of the road, they could remake 2, include case west, zero and off the record but I can't seen them touching 3 just because of scope and touching 4 is a death sentence

if they're gonna change shit, have it be an in universe adaptation of the Willamette events or something, hell it would be a good excuse for the cast change, leaning more into the dead rising 2/4 style wackiness and give them a sense of freedom sorta like what off the record provided, could even play into commentary about horror movie remakes but it would be too perfect of a set up for capcom to take

Checked the /v/ thread on the announcement, unsurprisingly the crapcom defense force is already in full swing there, just like during the nu-RE4 reveal/launch
Here is some points they brought up:
*It's over if they uglify Jessie or Isabella(very likely)
*They will dumb down the game for casuals, such as making boss fights easier and making the clock more generous
*Gone Guru, Fly Routine and other iconic tracks will likely be removed as well. When TJ Rotollo is out, nothing is sacred. We might see shitty instrumental remixes in their place.
*Frank looks awful here, but he looked much better in other spin off games, case and point:
I think UMVC3 Frank is a good compromise on his original look and a new cartoony style, the Project X one is not bad either. This was the worst possible way to go about bringing back Frank other than making Hank East from Dead Rising 4 canon
Again, as a reminder, what we're ACTUALLY getting is this:
*We will likely see nepotism youtubers/e-celebs voicing certain characters. Sphere Troon is likely going to appear one way or another in the game as well
*Stipo might have become an influencer at some point. He took a "break" from creating content not too long ago, but now he's back and really simping for the game already. Time will tell if he's the Dead Rising equivalent of Sphere Troon now
*Story itself might even be dumbed down for "modern audiences". Story was one of the best aspects of the game and the original game still reigns supreme in that regard, don't be surprised if they butcher it because "it's the current year" or for a shitty subversive plot twist
Hell, do we even know if Japanese or Westerners are making this? Dead Rising has been in the hands of Capcom Vancouver since Dead Rising 2 in 2010, barring the side games. This would make it the first mainline Japanese title since 2006.

What I don't understand is why are they labeling it a remaster over a remake. If they did an engine change and updated graphics wouldn't it be considered a remake? Unless gameplay and mechanic wise it'll stay true to the original and just a facelift? Cause I consider the 2016 one to be a remaster.

Dead Rising is such a specific time capsule of the early 2000s, plus tech, plus dev team, that I don't see this being anything but a shit copy, really. Some shiny new graphics won't be worth losing the iconic voice acting, musical tracks, or lewdness. Taking candid shots up skirts is a gameplay mechanic. That shit won't be here for sure.
Especially since it's just going to have generic unreal engine grease all over it.
