ah yes, the Power RangersCan you believe that the WARRIOR was them trying to cash in on MMPR? Talk about failing to understand the appeal.

Was she 13? I remembered that she was supposed to be her species equivalent of 16. Still bad though. Not defending that. Very creepy when she shapeshifted.No. Just a joke to shoe-horn in that reminder if people are going to start talking about comparing different GLs. The time Hal Jordan dates a 13 year old... yeah.
Fair enough but I will point out that it was Gunn's choice, not the best choice.Hal was in the insanely popular Green Lantern: The Animated Series (another great show cancelled for no good reason). As I said before Guy is actually a pretty understandable choice when you consider the kind of characters that Gunn likes - comedic characters with a douchey side. John, if we're just going by his DCAU depiction, is just a stoic military black man which doesn't leave much to work with for Gunn's tastes.
In my group, John is the GL. We grew up with him.I wouldn't put much stock in random TikTok clips (especially since I bet the guy that was coming in didn't even watch JL/JLU properly but just skimmed videos online otherwise he'd know that there are multiple human Green Lanterns). I hang out with a very sizable community of, let's say, nerd-adjacent people who aren't particularly aware of comics but want to get into them and I don't think I've ever met a single younger person for whom the default GL was John Stewart. Not a single one.
It was meant to evoke the transforming warrior gimmick without understanding what makes Tokusatsu/Henshin Hero work. If you do not see the connection between Guy and PR, trust me, you are not the only one.ah yes, the Power Rangers

I’m not super deep into Green Lantern lore, but is Guy Gardner’s whole thing being… the backup Green Lantern?Nobody likes him in-universe. Personally I find him the most relatable of all the Lanterns.

tbh there's been some Kamen Riders and other guys with weapon-ish handsIt was meant to evoke the transforming warrior gimmick without understanding what makes Tokusatsu/Henshin Hero work. If you do not see the connection between Guy and PR, trust me, you are not the only one.
Still learning, alright. He doesn't know what bat means in Spanish, fails to stop the bad guy's plan, and reminded me more of a The Crow extra than Bruce Wayne. The Reeves Batman movie was the panacea for all this. It portrayed Batman as intelligent but not magically all-knowing, a highly-skilled combatant but could still be hurt, impressive and just-past-realistic gadets but retained verisimilitude, gifted but still learning
"So there's these seemingly ordinary people who secretly dress up in wild costumes to fight villains and save the world with their powers..."It was meant to evoke the transforming warrior gimmick without understanding what makes Tokusatsu/Henshin Hero work.
Execs canceled Police Squad because they thought it was too funny. Keep that in mind.tbh there's been some Kamen Riders and other guys with weapon-ish hands
but yeah, that sorta makes sense in a "dumb exec misses the point" way
Seriously? Jesus...fun fact
According to Dan DiDio during development of Watchmen there was one exec who was determined to make sure The Watchmen had a robot dog as part of the crew
like, always bringing up "why not give them a robot dog?"
I had to look it up, I only posted it for a joke. We're both wrong. She was 14 in Earth years. Was she 13? I remembered that she was supposed to be her species equivalent of 16. Still bad though. Not defending that. Very creepy when she shapeshifted.
Best description I heard of him was something like "If Biff from Back to the Future was on the side of the good guys."I’m not super deep into Green Lantern lore, but is Guy Gardner’s whole thing being like… the backup Green Lantern? Like Hal gets his by a bus and the ring’s like, "Let’s go find this porn addict in Dundalk," and he looks like a guy who calls up Boston sports radio at 5 a.m.

Him and Hal were in competition for the ring, but Hal won out as we was closer when Abin Sur dies. The original story was a what if tale, with the main conclusion being that Hal would always end up as the Green Lantern due to Gardner being such a poor choice that he inevitably loses the ring. Hal is obviously prideful of this fact, but did go out of his way to make friends with Gardner so he could be closer to his would-be replacement. Later Stewart would shove Guy to the 3rd in line position for GL choices on Earth.I’m not super deep into Green Lantern lore, but is Guy Gardner’s whole thing being like… the backup Green Lantern? earlier drafts of the MST movie had higher density of riffs more like a normal episodeExecs canceled Police Squad because they thought it was too funny. Keep that in mind.
Yeah, I was under the impression that she was supposed to be 16 too.Was she 13? I remembered that she was supposed to be her species equivalent of 16. Still bad though. Not defending that. Very creepy when she shapeshifted.
Understood and maybe I didn't make this clear initially but I was mostly referring to the younger generations hence mentioning the DCAU being pretty old by now. Most 20 year olds today were only just born during the peak 2000s DCAU era and today's teens were born AFTER it. These are the primary intended demographics for capeshit films so I suspect it doesn't really make a difference whether you stick Gardner, Stewart or Simon Baz on-screen.In my group, John is the GL. Comics were in their "Ooof" years during those days. Every company had their "yikes" moments around that time.I had to look it up, I only posted it for a joke. We're both wrong. She was 14 in Earth years.
It depends on how young are we talking about. JL and JLU had younger audiences watching even if they we kids who were too young to understand everything that was going on. Both were easy to follow.Understood and maybe I didn't make this clear initially but I was mostly referring to the younger generations hence mentioning the DCAU being pretty old by now. I am early 20s, and grew up with Stewart as the primary Lantern. The DCAU has long outlasted its cancelation and is firmly rooted itself as the base of DC. Most 20 year old DC fans are mainly interested in shows that came out 20+ years ago, from DCAU to Teen Titans to Brave & The Bold, etc.. Check out most DC YT channels, there all like Shady Doorags where the main content is old series.Understood and maybe I didn't make this clear initially but I was mostly referring to the younger generations hence mentioning the DCAU being pretty old by now. I mean I guess it's not the most outlandish thing to exist in the Watchmen universe, tech-wise you can kinda squeeze it in.always bringing up "why not give them a robot dog?"
That Justice Lord episode cast a long shadow. I know Evil Superman had already been done to death, but I think that's the one that really put the idea of Good Superman turning evil on the map, even though S:TAS had already done a similar plot.Especially Injustice, where zoomer fans missed the memo that it was supposed to be yet another alternate universe evil Justice League from another dimension, not meant to be the default versions of these characters. Evil Justice league is a trope we’ve had since the ‘60s, if not earlier. And the DCAU did it better.
It's kinda the same with Frank Miller and DKR, and even Zack Snyder and BvS.people really should read Mark waids introduction at the start of the book
Tower of babel is probably the single biggest case of both fans and future creators having nfi what the actual point of a story is
According to the Wiki, yes:Injustice must have been inspired by it, but they made it really retarded and retooled it into Batgod wank.

First JLU picked it up for the two-season Cadmus arc. Injustice must have been inspired by it, but they made it really retarded and retooled it into Batgod wank.
