But the fact that it ever existed, even in theory tells you everything you need to know about the state of the DCU. This was Gunn's and Safran's idea by the way, shut down by the bean counters.

You thought Snyder was bad, didn't you. I mean, I thought he was terrible, but Jesus Christ, it's going to get so very mich worse.
I fully believe James Gunn a drama whore at this point. Not even the recent MCU shitstorms never got this bad as post James Gunn DC.

Well shit. I've never heard of Sgt. Rock but the Reeve's Batman was the comic book movie that I've enjoyed more than any other in decades. If it's cancelled because of Gunn's envy and jealousy.

On the video itself, have to say it's a bit unfair to criticise "slow writing" for the sequel given Gunn reportedly keeps yanking around what characters Reeves is and isn't allowed to include and Reeves being a writer who gets very invested in meticulous plotting.

As an aside, that video's logic is also flawed when it says British Winters are warm because women still go out in mini-skirts. British women would go out in mini-skirts in weather that would kill a polar bear.

The rumors have been the last month or two that behind the scenes Matt Reeves (or someone close to him) is legitimately dying. him or a family member or something has some sort of terminal illness or cancer or some shit and this back and forth getting fucked with and having to go back to the drawing board on his script multiple times he just can't turn in a final script, because he's dealing with some serious shit in his personal life, and Gunn keeps cucking him out of what he wants to do when he has turned anything in, and he has no idea when the fuck he'll have time to finish it or get to filming or if he even will.

the other rumor tied to all this is the clayface script that apparently according to Gunn was so fuckin' good (and resulted in Reeves going back to the beginning and throwing out the script he had done where Clayface was his villian) isn't even a fuckin' full script it's the skeleton of one. If that's true it's even more fucked up.

>Snyder's daughter commits suicide midway through him making Justice League.
>Reeves himself or his family member is nearly dying while he works ona The Batman 2.

Just how fucking cursed is DCEU?

I will say, I have no idea if any of that is true or just some internet bullshit. but what was being thrown around in rumor articles is that Matt Reeves was in a 'Chadwick Boseman situation' but referring to him and not someone else involved in the movie, and the various leakers/rumor grifters who put it out there said it was unclear if it was him or someone close to him.

if it is the case, and the specifics of whatever it is come out whether it gets scrapped or not or retooled again it's just going to be used as Gunn PR to be like look what a great guy I am I let him take his sweet ass time and didn't fire or cancel him it was his decision or he died or whatever ends up happening with it. which, realistically I don't know these people maybe he really is being like that about it and that has been the case the whole time.

but it really just sucks if this poor guy is really sick or taking care of someone who is and he's got that guy harassing him for a new script all the time, green lighting a movie utilizing his planned villian, shit like that. if he does just say fuck it and drop out of it I can't really be mad at him. If James Gunn was my boss and I wanted to make my Batman movie even if I wasn't dealing with that shit and he told me Robin and Clayface were off limits I'd walk too.

Hes an egotist. He believes his interpretations or versions of characters are absolute and that they were NOTHING until he came onto the scene and adapted them in his own superficial way. Thats it. He was for example, demonstrably angry with Gamora dying in IW, Starlord being an inept manchild who helps doom the universe and Thor joining the Guardians. So what does he do? Forces Watiti to write out the Guardians from Thor 4 rather than incorporating them into a buddy movie and having them all go on an adventure and growing. Then dismisses Thor entirely from Guardians 3 at all when he had pretty good chemistry with Rocket/Groot.

I do understand some frustration. He might have had plans for Gamora and he is right in the sense that characters like Star Lord should be consistent in a shared universe. He is the head GotG guy. He should be consulted for these things. That is how shared universes work. You have to keep the characters consistent. Of course he is hard to work with and so is Taika but the point still stands. There should have been an adult in the room to force some compromise. That adult should have been Feige but he screwed it up.

Fuck it, it's maybe not coming out. what would y'all have done for a sequel to the Batman if you were behind it? Said before I liked but didn't love the first, thought it was good set up for the kind of Batman I want.

I'd go Bat-shit crazy for Part II (pun-intended). this movie is about 2's, pairs and mirror images. But no Harvey Dent we don't need to retread that.

In the aftermath of the last movie and the Penguin, Bruce is trying to balance being both Batman and Wayne more. he's failing at doing both effectively. Penguin has consolidated crime in the city and as things are changing him and his gangs are embracing theatrics. They're doing this because the only gangs not under his control are Jokerz who even without their boss are still out doing crazy shit, and guys rising up under the name of riddler, alongside the fact with some politicians in Cobblepots pocket they're doing it just because they fucking can.

We retcon, that adrenaline Bruce took in the end of the last one? It's fucking Venom. He synthesized it himself somehow from 'drops'. He's stretched thin. In order to keep up appearances as Wayne and Batman he's getting addicted. He's focusing on busting up dopehouses and scrambling off with the drugs to get more venom.

to streamline things we find out these drops are also used to make other drugs. we have name drops of fear and Joker toxin. someone else is also mixing together them and something else. His name is Kirk Langstrom. yeah, baby. We're getting Man Bat.

Bruce is increasingly unhinged. Batman is accused of killing innocent people, and Bruce Wayne is making a total ass of himself and doing shady shit poisoning his fledgling reputation after being a recluse for 20 years. Gordon and Alfred are noticing the changes and are not sure if they can trust him and if he's totally lost his mind.

Bruce is fucking frustrated. He's strung out, his only friend thinks he might be a murderer, his dad knows he's a junkie and thinks he's ruining the family name. Bruce tells Alfred I'm doing this for you. You're the one who taught me to be Batman, and you're the fucking one who's been begging me to be Bruce Wayne. Alfred asks him, but who are you, Bruce?

Bruce is hunting down Man Bat. another player is on the scene in the crime world. Hush has been manipulating and working with gangs. Doing, something idk. The point is nerds like us will have figured this out, but normies will have their shit rocked because halfway through the second act hush will unmask and it will be revealed that us the audience weren't told when we were seeing Pattinson as Bruce Wayne and when we saw him as Tommy Elliot because he's got Bruce's face and he's been fucking with his life.

Bruce has been totally losing it. He's at the point he really has no idea if he's the one who's been doing all of this or not. He's been so strung out he's like maybe I've been blacking out.

At a Wayne fundraiser the flying graysons are killed by some sort of gang issue orchestrated by hush. Bruce is devastated seeing 8 year old Dick. Alfred convinces him to take the boy in thinking this might be the thing to get him to clean himself up. He does. He tries to talk to him later, talks to him about the anger and the rage. tells him he's been there and he understands. Dick sort of tells him to fuck off.

He goes out and finds manbat and brings him in. Bruce feels vindicated. Gordon's trust is reinstated. Still, Bruce is trying to figure out what is going on with his other identity. Bruce and Dick bond a bit off and on but Dick is thrown off by how he's like 2 different people. Alfred tells Bruce this has to stop. For your son. He goes into the batcave to detox. Alfred is spending a lot of time with dick and worried about Bruce. Little Dick is the one who puts together that a lot of the out of character shit Bruce was up to on the news is someone else. Alfred almost shits his pants. Another detective huh? This is when it's revealed to the audience hush has the face of Bruce Wayne.

By the end of the movie hush as Bruce has taken Dick. Batman goes to save him blah blah blah Bruce Wayne is absolved of all whatever the fuck because this psycho was trying to take over his life.

Movie ends with Bruce taking Dick to both of their parents graves, then into the batcave where they burn a candle. and he starts teaching him how to fight while Alfred looks on.

Honestly I would've used some untapped villains who have yet to be given the same kind of treatment others have. We've yet to see a good Mad Hatter or Hugo Strange for example.

0/10 Not enough Killer Moth as a dark reflection of Bruce.

In seriousness, seems fine. If we are being real, the plot of 2 was seemingly going to be the millionth retread of No Man’s Land, better known now as Arkham City. If leaks were to be believed, either Freeze or Clayface were the villain, which, technically speaking, you could have just used Clayface impersonating Bruce rather than Hush if we had to use him.

Since you are using Venom, Bane also could be a great villain. Actually do Knightfall with Bane being the cause of Batman’s stress (secret leader of the gangs, possibly working with Penguin) and movement towards being a junkie. Dude just wants to break Batman down before brutally clobbering the shit out of him. Could work as a reflection of Bruce’s abuse as Bane himself is a junkie. Let’s be honest, Bane could use an adaptation that isn’t shit since Arkham Origins is like the sole good Bane adaptation.

At least Mad Hatter is a canonical incel.
Honestly, would love to see Hatter in a film, especially one with the Bat Brats. I think a story that tries to make connections between Batman taking in children and Hatter forcing young girls to be his Alice would be a disturbed dynamic.

Personally, an ideal Batman outing for me would include Hatter and Scarecrow doing a full assault on Batman’s mental state. The psychology of the Bat is the most interesting part of the series to me and these two always seem way underplayed when they are the best candidates to truly break him.

Honestly I would've used some untapped villains who have yet to be given the same kind of treatment others have. We've yet to see a good Mad Hatter or Hugo Strange for example.
Agree, though I am also partial to giving many villains a second go as Batman movies have been awful to a good majority of the rogues that aren’t Joker, Penguin or Catwoman (and even then they still kind of suck). We really need a better Freeze, Ivy, Scarecrow, Ras, hell even Two-Face and Bane really need another go.

@Basic Blond Boy

I wouldn't want Bane in a Batman 2 he's better saved for like a 4th movie after Venom was set up already and we've already had Batman fight a bunch of his other rogues. I wouldn't mind him as the guy in the shadows for multiple films beforehand though.

Mad Hatter is one I've always wanted but only specifically once we have Robin. With Bruce trying to keep Robin out of it because he's a pedophile and Robin trying to butt in because it's personal because girls he knows from school or whatever are being mind controlled and taken. Have Bruce underestimate the Hatter and get his psyche rocked their first interaction and be trying double hard to keep Robin the fuck out of it but Robin is basically like fuck you I'm either helping or stopping this son of a bitch myself.

The only reason I wouldn't want clayface as the villian in that story I rambled out impersonating Bruce, is I specifically want clayface in a movie about Hollywood excess and disgusting elite behavior which he wouldn't need to be impersonating Bruce, you'd have Bruce undercover as himself to investigate. It'd be some weinstein shit. I just like the idea of Batman dealing with someone fucking with him as Batman and someone else unrelated as Bruce so you'd have man bat and Hush is absolutely terrible outside of the story where he pretended to be Bruce so it'd be using him the only way he hasn't been a total waste. I also wouldn't want our first out there villian experience to be two in one. let clayface be Batman 3.

then eventually after you've exhausted every villian possible in like 5 or 6 movies do one final one that's just a remake of the raid set in arkham asylum that's Batman and Robin beating the shit out of (and getting beat up by) every guy you've seen with little to no plot before finally getting to the Joker who's done all this just to give Batman a shitty day.

I'd be down with that too. Ivy especially if they can play some smart, sincere environmental message and make her tragic and sympathetic.
Unfortunately we'll never get a good poison ivy. She'll always be an angry dyke who was wronged by every man ever and with the most heavy handed she's absolutely the one in the right message possible.

Instead of a tragic figure doing what she believes is right and has good intentions just taken too far. she'll probably also never be a hot femme fatale ever again either which sucks. Ivy is a favorite character of mine and she's been pretty much irreversibly ruined the last 10 years

I wouldn't trust Midnight's Edge as a source, maybe they quote a better source, but not going to give that clickbait farm the watch to find out.

This from world of reel, using Production Weekly as the source.
If this speculation is true, seems like he maybe stepping down or replaced, but using his script. But would be shocked if the Batman Part 2 got canceled, first one made money and reviewed well, and the Penguin show last year did much the same.

The rumors I heard, was that his wife was dealing with cancer.

I feel like the Reeves-verse had the potential to back-pedal on the modern adaptation given he was avoiding Jonkler, and by extension Harley. Without the clown, modern Ivy really has no reason to exist as her entire character is based around Harley.

Personally, I am more in it for a second round of Scarecrow. Crane has been slept on by this franchise way too often to the point where even his "good" adaptations are usually still poor. He has to be up there with Bane in having every version be shit besides like 1-or-2 rare exceptions (would argue Arkham Asylum was his best outing).

After Scarecrow, easily Ivy needs another round. I feel like Ivy would be a good final villain, the peak in power leveling for the franchise. Always had an idea for a proper DC Universe Batman set of films, and I think she would be best reserved as an end-cap to Batman's side of the universe.

Yeah, Batman Begins could have been a great Scarecrow movie, but Nolan was the wrong director and shifted the villain role to Liam Neeson anyways.

I would be pissed too.
he probably signed up for something different than he got.
The reason he even put Adam Warlock in Guardians 2 was because he was setting him up for Avengers Endgame... you know, like in the source material.
But Marvel chose to fuck up his set up and release Guardians 3 after Endgame because they wanted Captain Marvel instead and that fucked up his story.

Imagine 2019 MCU with GotG3 instead of Captain Marvel.
Would be much better.
I'm with Gunn on this.

That seems to be the general problem with Scarecrow. He appears and has great scenes, but he can never be the main focus regardless of how good the setup is. Arkham Knight had this exact issue. Scarecrow going full scorched Earth mode and trying to kill the symbol of the Bat and any hope he brings people is a great concept, but he gets sidelined early-on for a shitty Red Hood plot and more Jonkler.

Great design, great voice, great concept, even some great scenes, yet in the end, Scarecrow barely matters to Arkham Knight beyond shoehorning in the Joker. They couldn't even give us fun drugged-up horror set pieces like Asylum had. Had to wait for the Mad Hatter DLC to do the thing people wanted a Scarecrow game to provide.

Even past that, there really hasn't been a good depiction as BTAS didn't really seem to know what to do with him, then he was basically barred from being in the other cartoons. Has a few good minor roles like Brave & The Bold - He was a cool final boss for the DS game even if it wasn't actually him - and Injustice 2. Really his best depiction was Asylum, which makes Knight all the more worse for screwing him up so badly.
