@Shishio , i don't think anyone ever went to jail for the simple fact of being an asshole.
Unless he fucks up royally, like he goes insane and starts macing people too, he won't go to jail.
The only time he ever risked something was when he publically declared he would doxx people who try to do it to him. If he did that, then you could say he commited a crime.
@Shishio, you are way too damned obsessed with this guy. I think you should disconnect from this shit for a while and reprioritize. When it is all said and done, Phil is just a jackass on the internet. He's not Stalin McHitler.
ofcourse i cared, i watched his vids for years, he was like an online friend that not only betrayed me, he told me to fuck off and shit on the attention i gave him
no i didnt give him money directly but i did give him views
the crime is betrayal of my trust.
i dont think he is as stupid as you think but ok.
i havent done anything against him, except voice my mind and i dont care to do anything more, its not worth the effort.
i just wait and hope for the best (his worst)
Are you kidding dude? I mean that's what I call being overly obsessed with some random Youtube personality. There are so many more out there you can watch and enjoy their videos. I'm not crying because I don't like The Amazing Atheist anymore. I simply move on and find something else to watch or listen to.
I was googling random fighting game stuff and came across these videos. I've always wanted to see Phil's performance at Evo 2005 but never thought to really dig into finding them. If they're legit, they're interesting. In the match against Tokido (btw, one of the best in the fighting game community ever), Phil gets wrecked pretty easily, even if he gets a win in Match Two. In the second video against Hinh, while Phil is getting wrecked, he pauses the game, which is very much frowned upon in the fighting game community and is pretty hilarious considering what a sore loser Phil has turned out to be.
PS @Shishio
Lurk more and stop being dumb. You're probably already threadbanned but you keep derailing threads with your banality. I actually agree with you on some things, well, one thing and that being that Phil isnt going anywhere for awhile, but you need to chill out.
Despite what he always says, he was pretty much a terrible player.
And he always caused trouble, doing cheap shit (like pausing or spamming fireballs/ultras) , picking fights with other partecipants (and then backing off at the last second) and being generally rude, even to the tourney organizers.
He was just garbage, yet he kept bragging and picking fights on the shoryuoken forums.
He would even threat violence, then he would not present himself at the tourney.
He won against Justin Wong just because they had used a shitty PSX port of SFII with messed up mechanics and different frames. A port which only DSP was familiar with at the tournament.
Because of this... he was considered the joke of the FGC and he was hated by all.
Since Phil had "won" in his mind, he played the victim with the usual "they're just jealous" and "haters gonna hate" and dubbed himself the King of Hate.
The FGC still mocks him to this very day. They probably use him as an example on WHAT NOT TO DO in competitive playing.
That's why Phil keeps saying "i moved on from the FGC", he was not wanted in the first place and everyone hated his guts.
Also... Phil playstyle is pretty much "spam fireballs" and "rush" without any semblance of mindgames or zoning. He's like an open book for other players.
And he complained about Deathstroke. Pffff.
So I've been lurking this thread for a while, but I hadn't actually watched many of DSP's videos for longer than a few minutes simply because of how instantaneously insufferable he is. Today I bit the bullet and finally watched about two hours' worth of TIHYDP L.A. Noire and Fallout: New Vegas.
It isn't enough to just read about DSP; you have to watch. You have to absorb the failure directly, like an IV drip. He is literally an idiot. The utter incompetence and lack of professionalism have to be witnessed firsthand, from the video camera pointed at the TV screen to the loud belching he can't be arsed to edit out. I have no idea who his genuine fans are, or how he was once making six figures. After both TIHYDPs, I fully understand why he's in a relationship with someone who thinks higher education is for suckers: there's no way either of them are cut out for it. Phil still can't work out how to play the things he's dedicated his entire life to for the past God knows how many years -- how could he ever be knowledgeable about a subject as complex as science, or history, or literature?
And I know it's already been stated many times that DSP is incapable of following basic instructions or reading prompts on-screen, but man, it has to be seen to be believed. In L.A. Noire, you only ask one question in one of your first interrogations, and they basically tell you the answer (because it's the sodding tutorial), but he still managed to get it wrong. Despite the on-screen text telling you that sometimes witnesses lie, and the blatant "Press Triangle to accuse the witness of lying" straight afterwards, he goes ahead and selects Doubt anyway. It took him three tries to succeed.
He read the text aloud, so it's not like he didn't notice it. It's like he absorbs information but then completely fails to understand why he's being told that information, or how it might be relevant to the situation. Afterwards, he complained that the witness wasn't doing anything to suggest she was lying. What, do you mean besides looking around, swallowing uncomfortably and swivelling her eyes everywhere? It's the sodding tutorial and they're trying to make it as obvious as possible that she's not telling the truth. It's been posited before that DSP might be somewhere on the autism spectrum, and now I'm wondering if that might be the case, given that he couldn't pick up on even the most exaggerated body language. The rest of the TIHYDP was just as hopeless.
- Phil thinks that as good as the face capture is, it doesn't add anything to the game because you still can't tell who's lying or not. Sunshine, it's not the face capture, you're just incapable of registering even the most obvious physical cues.
- Tasked with picking evidence that proves the suspect can be directly linked to the crime scene, he passes over the witness statement that positively identified the suspect as being there, and instead opts for the fact that the murder weapon had been serviced by the suspect -- as though the weapon couldn't possibly have been used by anyone else afterwards.
- A suspect says he doesn't know anything about a specific type of rope used in a murder, and Phil accuses him of lying. To prove this, he uses the evidence that the rope was found in the car of a completely different suspect, and is then shocked when his total absence of logic screws him over. ("What? What the fuck? Are you serious? What the fuck just happened?")
- Is completely baffled when he gets a one-star rating at the end of a case, despite charging an innocent guy with murder. Blames the game.
As bad as DSP is at his current job, thank your stars that he isn't a detective.
- Names his character Jacques DeCock. -Agrees with the statement "I ain't given to relying on others for support," disagrees with "Conflict just ain't in my nature," and strongly disagrees with "I am slow to embrace new ideas."
- Has no idea that quest markers exist or how to use them, wanders around aimlessly, and then blames the game for not telling him where to go.
- Strips a dead woman of her clothes and then ogles the corpse.
- NPC tells him in an unmarked quest "Go up the path past the broken radio tower and go to the right, they're at the top of the trail." DSP immediately after conversation has ended: "OK, where is this? What? They didn't even give me a mission. What the fuck? Dude. He didn't give me a mission, so how do I know where to go? What is going on?" - Gets wrecked by a pack of geckos and dies.
- Walks into three mines in quick succession and dies.
- Walks through the middle of Boomer territory and dies.
- Goes into Vault 34 without a Rebreather and drowns repeatedly.
- Gets outnumbered by radscorpions while low on health, saves his game before instant death.
- Wanders around dressed as an NCR soldier, gets jumped by Legionaries. - Thinks that some characters pronounce "Caesar" the modern Anglicised way and some the original Latin way because the voice actors weren't coached properly.
- Gets locked out of the Strip, blames it on bugged game mechanics.
- Doesn't retrieve the quest item from a dead Brotherhood soldier in Repconn HQ, goes all the way back to the bunker, blames his failure to read instructions on a game bug.
- Opens up Mr. House's chamber and leaves him alive, wonders afterwards why the quest goal "Kill or disable Mr. House" is still active. Blames it on another bug.
I also watched some of his Dead Money playthrough, and he seemed to take a shine to Dean Domino. I like to think it was because he instantly recognised a fellow narcissist.
For the full DSP experience, the Jak II TIHYDP is probably the best one. His attitude about the game (which while not a masterpiece is pretty decent) is so bad that I couldn't watch the whole thing. He acted like an extremely petulant child starting in the tutorial and it only got worse as time went on. He got so salty at some points that he sounded like he was gonna cry.
Honestly the best way to learn about him is to watch TIHYDP MGS2 and MGS3. You know, the beginning of the TIHYDP craze.
You can watch him trying to sneak around by literally rolling around everywhere, while making the most noise he could ever make.
He walks right in front of the line of sight of guards, even tho he has a fucking radar!
He tries to use shotguns in long range, and uses the sniper rifle without the scope for very long shots!
He adopts the most asinine strategies against bosses, culminating in the most retarded way to fight a boss ever. The Boss!
Between the two games, he must have gotten at least 200 alert phases and 50 deaths.
Oh yes. The DSP talk is not as funny if you've never really watched that much of the "kahhhntent" or seen his tweets and those TIHYDP videos are great for summarizing how incompetent of a person he can be. I also highly recommend the DSP Tries It (especially the Bullying video) and the Bugged (Blank) Mechanics videos too that also make fun of other weird things that he does outside of his video game playthroughs.
he spent most of the game going HUH WUUUT
instead of shutting up and trying to piece things together. he honestly expected a rogue like (he didn't realize it might be randomly generated until quite a ways in) to hold his hand and explain everything
