Just a thread for my ongoing project mainly for feedback and suggestions on what i'm making.

Bugout kit/gear based upon the 1970's-80's Dark Lord aesthetics, because it's cool.
Essentially fully functional larp gear, engineered with real materials, and refined through prototyping.
Most of the kit is for self-defense/protection/armor, also ROC applies and takes first priority.

Methods & Materials

I’m using a mix of 3D modeling, resin printing, composites, and electronics. Everything is designed iteratively — print, test, refine.

Circulus Imperii:

This is a power ring built around miniaturized electronics, with the goal of integrating a real energy source and output into a wearable band. The intent is to keep the Dark Lord aesthetic, but engineered so it actually functions as more than just jewelry.

I’ve finished the base prototype design. It’s already been 3D printed and came out great. I also reworked the 3D model so I can now scale the overall ring size without messing up the finger-hole dimensions — makes future iterations much easier.

The design process went like this: I had ChatGPT generate a concept image based on my requirements and aesthetic, then used Meshy to convert that into a 3D model. Their system did a surprisingly good job, though I had to pay for a subscription to download it. (Funny sidenote: their “half-off first month” only applied to Stripe payments — buried in a tooltip — so I told paypal to suck my dick, hit them with a chargeback, and ended up paying nothing in the end.)

I also ordered some cheap test components for fitting. This was dumb as fuck — I could’ve just modeled the parts in Blender and tested fit virtually. Still, it was useful to get a feel for the physical proportions.

Right now i am creating other more expensive component parts in blender to see how they fit in the ring.

Circulus Imperii:

Just finished up another test print.
Unfortunately i had to severely thicken the band of the ring to match that of a smart ring as there aren't any smaller lipo batteries than the ones they use, well at least there's a readily available option for me to buy.

From this point onward it's going to take awhile as I'll be waiting on components and such i guess.
I'll also smooth out some inconsistencies and polish it up a little.

This is the coolest project ever, good luck my friend.
Thanks, it'll be even cooler when i show what electronics I'm putting in but that's a surprise.

I don't know what that is, but I just want to see someone build their own armored powered exoskeleton (and carry a big gun). Could cost tens of thousands of dollars, depending on the level of sophistication of the exoskeleton and whether or not you buy it off the shelf.

Ive been smashing my skull against a brick wall the past couple days on the components to put into the ring. There just isn't anything i can use to get the result i'm seeking without massively increasing the ring size, atleast nothing i can find anyway.

So i either have to take the fattest biggest L in existence and keep the ring at it's current size, which is barely acceptable for daily wear or say fuck it and go balls to the wall complete total retard ring.
I guess I'll just do both, a normal ring that I'll turn into a set, one for each finger and a retard ring. There is a longer term project for a much better design but it involves designing a custom flexible PCB board that fits into the band leaving more space for a super capacitor or battery cell.

I'm going to order the components and do another test print of the ring tomorrow.

How are you building things with such little arms?

I have an elegoo 3d resin printer.
there latest models specifically the saturn are quite good and i haven't had to fiddle much like with the previous model.

The components i ordered from the US finally arrived it only took 3 fucking weeks holy shit.
Anyway now that i have the exact dimensions of the 2 most important components i should be able to finalize the initial design, more updates will come over the next few days as I continue to progress.

No clue what dank Lord is. Is this from some video game or cartoon or something? Wrong subforum perhaps?

Good news everyone, everything fits.

3 Components all crammed into the normal ring body.
I'd say I'm in the middle stages of prototyping by now, mainly because i still have to order a couple more components although they are much smaller and easier to fit elsewhere in the ring body.
After that I'll do some tests to make sure everything runs and then cast the ring out of metal, probably sterling silver.

If you recognize the components you might realize what I'm building.

Also the plastic disc is a model of one of the batteries i might use.
