How does he know so many celebrities? He seems to live in a very nice house in Hollywood, how did he get the money to buy it? And why did he become so intent on making a franchise about a giant orange catman that loves children?
[Trying to hide my powerlevel as much as possible]

If you live in Los Angeles it's hard not to meet producers and celebrities. Waiters and limo drivers can't avoid meeting them. If you have the chutzpa to approach them ("hi, I'm Derek and I have a great kids-targeted franchise...") they'll smile at you and take your card (only to throw it out right away).

His house (where the videos were shot) seems to be in a suburb in the Valley (or maybe San Bernardino?). During the early 2000s you could get those for peanuts. Even after the 2008 they are still very affordable.

Derek seems to have taken an online branding course. The whole repeating ad-nauseam "Cool Cat loves you!" it's the kind of stuff they teach you at those.

Dove reviews in general are kinda a huge joke.
With masterpieces as Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas or Joshua and the Promised Land in them?

Think he lives in Burbank, considering he was able to get an "I approve this message" out of its police chief at the tail end of Saves the Kids.

I wonder what the Dove reviewers would think if they found out that Derek keeps pictures of his Playgirl career (as well as a novel about a male stripper) on the same website he advertises Cool Cat on? Or how he cast a porn star as the policeman?
Derek is about as aware of what is appropriate in a children-friendly context as CWC.

Surprisingly, I don't think this video has been posted yet. It's a short video of Daddy Derek and Cool Cat advertising their merchandise; it actually shows up in the YMS review for a bit.

I just had the worst Geocities flashbacks.

Derek's website looks like it came from the fucking Stone Age of the Internet (also known as the year 1995). In general, everything he makes looks like it came from the 90s even though they're only a few years old. With all the connections Derek has, I'm surprised he doesn't know anyone who actually knows how to operate a website.

Perhaps he can't find one. Or has never heard of the thought. Either option is possible.

My favorite part of this video is that brief closeup of cool cat towards the end... which they probably did to avoid looking at whatever the hell Derek was doing at that moment.

"I will make you bleed for your words, Mr Critic!"

Seriously, Derek should give his entire franchise plus that "fair use" video to someone else who is more competent than him like, many of them.

How did he get Vivica A. Fox to star in Cool Cat? She's a pretty accomplished actress (Independence Day, Kill Bill), she shouldn't have to play in some washed-up porn actor's well-meaning but failtastic amateur video.

Because Derek thinks he can do it better than anybody else. He won't hire somebody to do it when he can update his MS Frontpage 1998 website.

Probably the only role that was available around the time. Then again I could be dead wrong. Could the same also be said for Eric Estrada?
