Random but is there an "official" spelling for yaaay? Both on Twitter and screenshots from his book he spells it as "yaaa". As it's not really a word I guess it doesn't matter too much, I'd just not seen it his way before.

Sorry, but a budget of $1000? You'd be hard pressed to find someone to shoot a :30 commercial in most areas for that amount.

Daddy Derek likely owns all the production "equipment" (such as it is), edits stuff himself on his computer, definitely owns the Cool Cat costume and all the props. He films most stuff in his house/neighborhood (or in locations that were likely gratis from his quasi-celeb friends, like the parade). The only people he has to pay are whoever is in the Cool Cat suit, a handful of child actors and the camera guy; his quasi-celeb friends probably just appear for shits and giggles.

1000 bucks seems totally reasonable. The fact that he isn't taking the project into a lol memes direction and trying to appeal to weens while asking for 50,000 dollars makes me think it's definitely neither a scam nor Derek underestimating expenses.

Also, setting the asking price low makes it all the more likely that the Kickstarter will hit its funding goal so that he'll get at least that much. He'll likely walk away with a few thousand or so.

Yeah, the campaign says he's self-financing most of it, but he wants to get more celebs to improve the marketability. He wants Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber. Gaga has always been an anti-bullying type person, so she'd probably be happy to fool around for the day with Cool Cat. I don't know much about about Bieber, is he still relevant?

When I first heard about Daddy Derek, I thought he was somewhat famous already possibly as a porn director, because his name is so damn iconic. I guess its funnier that he's just this nobody who makes films for kids, but he's also friends with Erik Estrada for some reason.

Well, I mean. He was in Playgirl. So you were closer than you think.

He also self-published a Maradonia-tier novel (or is that being unfair to Gloria Tesch?) about a male stripper.

I still suspect he used to have some ties with the adult industry, either in front of or behind the camera. Many ex-pornstars have gotten into charity work or campaign for some wholesome cause -- e.g. Sasha Gray reading books to children --, so Derek may have felt compelled to do the same after he left that particular branch of showbusiness; for him, it was promoting gun safety and anti-bullying. Getting out of gambling/cocaine debts would have been an added benefit, but so far Cool Cat hasn't catapulted Daddy Derek to Dr. Seuss-like stardom...

The other cost saving thing is broke people trying to get "their break" may be willing to help out paticaluraly if he claims "well-known" actors will babe involved. Heck if your waiting tables doing your trade with C/D-listers for a day may be a good move even

Oh yeah, I saw a post about this essentiallly being a scam. This isn't even a sequel, it's just money that he can use to add more crap to the original so he can rehash it again
Guess that gif of Daddy Derek tugging the air's invisible udders was prophetic after all.

Now I have my hopes up for Ron Jeremy making an appearance.

So Derek is trying to pull a George Lucas and release a Special Edition of Cool Cat Saves the Kids? Instead of Han shot first, will we get Butch bullied first?

I found this creepy old Tails plush online, and holy shit, its resemblance to Cool Cat is fucking uncanny:
