Mobilefags beware!

The official YouTube app will now leak your youtube account/channel in the si parameter of a youtu.be shortlink. This is what gets copied to clipboard when you use the share button under the video. When you send the link to someone and they open it with YouTube app, YouTube will create a chat conversation between you and the person you sent the link to. Yes, YouTube now has an instant messaging service.

To avoid this, always remove the si URL parameter from youtube links, this is the "si=(random string)" stuff after the ? character in the link.

I appreciate a post like this. I remember growing up not that long ago. Middle school in the late 2000s we had a whole damn 30 minute or so class on net safety. Do they not do this anymore? Do they just assume these retarded ass kids are smarter than them and know it all already because their parents stuck an ipad in front of them because they can't be bothered to properly parent?
As much as people act like the Internet's permanence isn't a thing anymore, it still is. Sure, things can and do get buried. But use Murphy's law. What's goimg to be buried is the nice shit you do. Meanwhile, the shit you'd rather stay buried is going to be passed around so people can mock you. Hell, this site is a prime example.
I feel like a lot of this is kinda preaching to the choir. Go tell reedit users this and watch them play mental gymnastics just to contradict your statements.
I am admittedly prone to saying dumb shit online. We all get heated and, especially with instant access in your pocket, we'll be responding quickly between bites of cereal, only to realize later you said something dumb.
But, be better. Have a healthy relationship with the internet. And I'm the first one to admit I'm not the biggest poster child of that. I spend far too much time arguing with dumbass redditors. Been trying to step away. The number one thing you can do, for both yourself and security, is just not respond. Who gives a shit. As much as I wish people would be smarter, some two bit online ain't going to change their mind. Let them wallow in their ignorance.

Good looking out. What's the fucking point of this shit? Why do I want to DM people on fucking youtube?
