As you may know, otocolobus manul is known in the West as the "pallas cat", pallas being a degeneration of the word "palace".
This is because foreigners first encountered the species at the courts of Mongol aristocracy, who revered the animal due to its ferocious spirit, luxurious fur and beautiful voice.

Human attempts to replicate their songs led to the invention of throat singing.

Their natural environment doesn't have a lot of building materials.

The ears being on the side of their head instead of the top allows them to peer over obstacles without giving their position away.

Also they have round pupils instead of the slit "cat eye" type, for better binocular vision.

The animal in the video is a hyrax, a rodent whose natural habitat is in Africa (although rock hyraxes also live in Middle East). They are the few rodents who do not construct their own dens rather seek existing holes to live in. Despite their appearances being similiar that to a pika or marmonts, genetically they are more related to manatees and elephants. They are nocturnal and solitary creatures.

I was able to help a Chickadee out of my sunroom today. While he was very mad at me, he did hang out for a moment on my hand before he flew away. That was very cute and cool.
(I absolutely love chickadees)
