Lon Chaney, the guy in the first one, did his own makeup effects. That’s why they were so extreme - he knew what he could take. I love old-skool special effects.

Her neck seems to be smooth but from the angle it's hard to tell...and oddly enough I think there's some kind of facial hair on the chin BUT that could either be my eyes playing tricks on me, a shadow of her long head hair.
