David Hahn was a crazy motherfucker. In fact he built far more then just a neutron source, he had a full functioning reactor running just about critical mass in his mother's pottery shed, the readings from which (when he could detect heightened radioactivity down the street!) finally scared him enough to disassemble it.

However once they had achieved borderline criticality, all the components were even more radioactive then before and he was trying to get masses of the material away from each other and buried far away that finally led to his bust: he was pulled over for suspicion of trying to siphon gas from parked cars or something and warned the officer not to handle the material in the trunk of his car or it would seriously hurt him. That's when the 'Radioactive Eagle Scout' legend was born, he was still a fucking TEENAGER and boy scout when he built this! He got his "Atomic Energy" merit badge, that's for damn sure!

This picture of him was taken many years later and the sores and shit all over his face were more from his crack addiction then radiation burns, although he apparently WAS collecting radiation sources like smoke detectors for the tiny smear of Americium inside all over again before he died.
