our world is getting so ridiculous
There's already the "Current year" terms that piss you off thread, so here's a thread of Current Year trends you don't like.

to get the ball rolling:

  • "bughives" and "tiny homes"
  • "election fortifying"
  • endless riots "fiery but mostly peaceful protests"
  • "influencers"
  • looming "competency crisis"
  • overpriced groceries
  • overpriced housing
  • "smartphone zombies"
  • "social media"
  • "The New Normal" (thank goodness it seems that one ended)

i'm so sick of people (mostly women) calling their dogs puppers or doggos, just say dog, also you're not a dog-mom you're a fucking pet owner.

Tipping culture. You an actual server and do an excellent job? tip. You hand me my food/drink over a counter? no tip

And then the percentages... why so high?

How dating is nowadays. The generation that grew up spending their teenaged users on the Internet are now trying to build adult relationships after avoiding them and the results speak for themselves.

That's a common theme in r/Serverlife that the cook from r/KitchenConfidential facepalm at their comments. I understand the logic. A server gets extra from tips. Well, I hope that's true. I have seen signs saw like this on the web so I take it's more confusing than straightforward. BQNBUUH.jpg

Regardless I was never a fan of restaurants myself. So why should I pay an arm and leg for a meal then tip even more money my server. You'd have a better time learning how to cook better food at home.

catering to the adhds with these modern shows and movies that have cuts and new lines of dialogue every other second, mein Gott - please slow down this is not a race nor a rally documentary
and also the transgenders and the gays and atheists and their accomplices running around all unashamed, big problem
photographing and filming people in public not being a crime punished by stoning

Also, calling their claws 'nails'. Bitch, they're attached to the bone. Try climbing a tree by your nails.
Dog 'spas' and other things that involve projecting what some humans find enjoyable onto the dog. Dog groomers all offer stupid shit like blueberry 'colognes' where they spray a scent onto your dog so it smells less dog-like. I imagine that for the dog this would be like somebody taping a pound shop air freshener to your nose.

Zoomer noserings. Every fashion era has at least one disastrous trend in it and noserings is this one's.

Any YouTuber that holds the microphone gets an instant "Do no recommend this channel" from me, it looks fucking stupid, youre not a reporter at the scene of some big happening, youre some asshole sitting in their bedroom talking about dumb shit on the internet, no need to be so fucking dramatic about it.

Using the claim “bad faith arguments” to shut down critical thinking. Doesn’t matter if you’re correct or not, right and wrong are decided by your motives now.

Also who could forget "social justice" -- and how "identity politics" spread from Tumblr and fringe activism to infiltrate and infect academia, business, and even politics?

Before Current Year, tattoos were a "tough guy" thing, like among bikers, gangs, and in the military.

Now around 1/3rd of Americans have tattoos (according to Pew Research Center).

I hate the self-censorship of no-no words despite everyone knowing what you're talking about just because advertisers go into a tizzy. "SAing" instead of sexual assault, "sewer slide" instead of suicide. Recently, when I was looking at the reddit thread I saw someone use "k-worded" to say that someone was killed despite there being no moderation that would stop you from saying it. Even if you go on youtube and see a video about some heinous true crime story, they'll describe to you in graphic detail what happened, but redact the word "kill" or "murder" despite having millions of views and getting mainstream attention and no one seems to think that might be a problem we've gotten used to it.
