"Current year" terms that piss you off

“Eating good”, referring to excitement or contentment within a fandom or group.

Example: “Croc: Legend of the Gobbos fans be eating goooood!”

It’s usually a given that such fans are not eating good at all in a literal sense…
 
I really dislike right-leaning channels using the term "degenerate" (or degen), especially when more common words like sick, perverted, etc. would work just as well. Like I really enjoy the term "profligate" (it even has one less sylable) but I don't use it in conversation because it would appear obviously forced. Maybe it's because I can dimly remember when the term first started getting traction and then appearing in lots of places. I can just tell it's not a natural term, but one someone used once for effect and then filtered down and that's why I don't like it.

I don't like it when I can obviously sense someone is just using a term without actually thinking about what they are saying. It just seems so artificial; I can't imagine that people would say this, in person, when discussing the same topic.

Maybe it's partly because you can't just call people fags or trannies anymore on YouTube.

I like "degenerate", it's precise and has implications (in) ways other words aren't and don't.

  • "sick"
    • implies muhmentalillness and suggests that the individual needs help;
    • it has been a positive slang word, too.
  • "perverted" is
    • passive (exculpates the individual),
    • not derogatory enough (basically "queer"), and
    • carries no consequences: so I am perverted, so what.
  • "profligate" is too narrow and not actionable, it means "exuberantly wasteful" and only applies to them in the metaphorical sense (you think they are wasting their lifetimes):
    • Many of them are well-off.
    • Many of them are on gibs but not any worse economically than the average lazy person.
    • Finally, it's their life to waste: normies will tell you to mind your own business.
"degenerate" is clearly derogatory -- weak but also dangerously defective -- and has connotations of reproduction, family, legacy, etc. You really don't want a degenerate anywhere near, because one bad apple rapes the whole barrel.

I am totally fine with "degenerate" and don't even care if it has semi-fascist implications to a certain group of retards. It does not inherently mean anything fascist. It is quite simply a degradation of a person or class of people into a state worse than what they were previously.

By definition, degeneracy is a descent into a worse state.

Troonery, cuckoldry, especially from a marriage, and debased adaptations of other, far better works are quite literally degeneracy in its actual dictionary meaning.

People who engage in degeneracy are degenerates. There's really no way around that.

I've seen those pussies censor the words "cut" or "knife". Is the algorithm that faggy nowadays? I remember when you could discuss heavy topics without using corporate-enforced euphemisms like "unalive".

Here's the thing, it initially starts off with content creators using those censors and alternatives because they don't want to be shadow banned or demonetized, but then the babies that watch those videos start using those censors even when it's not necessary because they think it's funny or cool, or maybe they are starting to be afraid of saying bad words idk

I honestly think they're just so used to doing it that the thought of "oh yeah, I don't have to censor that word here" doesn't really cross their minds.

I once witnessed a whole back and forth discussion on a forum dedicated to a particularly sensitive and serious topic where the the thread's OP kept using using euphemisms like "unalive" or "self delete", while the commenter she was responding to would just say "suicide". It was surreal.
 
"Comfort food". Often used by middle-upper and upper class twats to describe foods they like instead of just saying favorite food or tasty foods in general.

I can't really describe it, but the phrase gave me a feel of smugness or snobbishness. It also beg some questions. How about other foods other than your comfort foods? Don't you enjoy eating them? Do eating them make you not comfortable? Do you eat to seek comfort instead of fulfilling your nutrient needs, to live? Also, if a certain food make you comfortable, then why not having it everyday? Or better yet, eat it 3 times a day?

YT should have remained like it was before 2007: one couldn't make money being a "YouTube Partner" as that program didn't exist yet, so people would usually make stuff just for fun. Unlike now, with many "influencers" being excessively self-censoring out of fear of being "demonitized" -- "demonitized" is also a very Current Year sounding term.
