In fairness, gaslight is a specific form of manipulation. The term does have valid use though.

Although it is fucking creepy how much it gets overused now. I think that's one thing that bugs me about a lot of these new-speak terms is how they spread memetically. No one ever talked about gaslighting a couple years ago, but now apparently everyone is being fucking gaslight by everyone and their pets. It's like the knowledge of these problems creates the perception of them, similar to the phenomenon where med students will often suspect they have disease they recently learned of. Except instead of isolated cases, technology has allowed for this to occur across entire cultures in a matter of weeks.
 
One common term I find used in feminist circle is "pick-me," which they use to describe women that don't blindly hate men by claiming that they just want dick. It's kind of like that Handmaiden slur, but without the shitty pop-culture reference.

Is that a thing that's in again with e-speds? I remember that the whole "le [thing]" was something that every idiot/13 year old girl on Tumblr was doing about a decade ago, along with stuff like "RAWR XD," "ERMAGERD," and pretending like liking bacon is quirky. There were often little four panel comics they make where they'd usually start their story off with "le me." Then people would mock the "le" thing all the time especially when making greentext posts on 4chan.

I don't remember seeing it yonks ago. I do remember the Rawr XD though. Reading that part of your post gave me an IRL chuckle thinking about the flashy, autistic MySpace pages of teens being 'random' and doing the cat claw RAWR pose, usually wearing rabbit ears or emo-like mascara.

I do miss that optimistic, silly, fun outlook on internet pages. Even though they were often aids to look at, the unique and weird shit on there was pretty cool. Nowadays we're stuck with blandagram and blandbook profiles. Le sigh.

Ive never understood the appeal of Reddit. Aside from a few months on r/conspiracy in 2015, it is, and always has been, a faggot infested fart huffing orgy.

Maybe i should upgrade my current year term to every fucking word spoken on le reddit.

Ostensibly? It's a place for content aggregation where you can discuss your favorite topics. Basically a nexus of forums on one site.

But yeah. I knew it wasn't the place I wanted to be when I learned of r/atheism, arguably one of the primordial soups from whence the hordes of circlejerking, smarter-than-thou SJW cretins came.

It's a conformist NPC's idea of a digital Wild West. There are still people who think it's like KF or 4chan.

maybe way way back in the day it might have been alright, I didn't really hear about it until 2008 or something? But i've always known it as a heavily curated, heavily modified, agenda pushed, one-sided shit hole.

I just remembered while typing this, r/neofag was a good laugh until it was banned in the original purge of hate sites. coontown, niggerhate, fatpeoplehate, something else and neofag were shut down. Neofag, a subreddit for laughing at tyler malka, the owner of neogaf, was shut down as a hate site in the same breath as coontown. Yet r/watchpeopledie, lasted years. You could go watch snuff films and laugh at humans losing their lives, but joking about fatties, wogs and pedos was a no no.

I'm MATI now. Fuck reddit.

Like a year ago, there were several word filters on the site. R3t4rd changed to retard, milk turned to tard cum, and a few others. I think this got reset when null had to overhaul the site, and he just now got around to putting it back up.
