Current issues with the market - Any ideas on avoiding the end?

Don't believe Graham Stephen, he's an entertainer and nothing more. I heard he was selling courses on how to become a popular youtuber and he was advising people to buy subs and views like he did early on. He's good at making money, but only off duping others, sort of like Tai Lopez and co.

This might seem sound retarded but the more articles I keep seeing MSM articles about how "the economy is collapsing and to pull out" the more I'm tempted to jump back in more.
Not really, I've made a good amount of money just being contradictory to analysts and trends. I'd never short anything because you never know how fucked that can get, but if I'm not worried about holding a position long term, I'm fine going against the grain.

The current inventory at the auction is still insanely low. Yes we see some repos and we are seeing them more frequently but they are being snatched by buyers like candy and above retail market value.

The banks want these people to repo. Because they are going to make a killing right now.

Damn man, my fuel efficient sedan I bought in 2005 is starting to stall on me. Really don't want to jump back into the market right now, but may have to.

Not getting an SUV of course, Americans and their fascination with them have always astounded me.

Buying a sedan will cost you arm and leg and a relatively newer sedans used is going to more than new right now.

I can sell my piece of shit 2014 sedan for $6000 with 160000 miles. It got new engine.

It was like this for large SUV last year but the trend is quickly changing and the SUV market is tanking.

But I will hold out on the small compact crossover/SUV market. They are just as good as sedan in fuel efficiency and people will buy them at large.

Was actually thinking about going that route. Subaru and Mazda both make "compact" SUVs that, while not quite on par, have similar mileage to your average sedan.

SUVs are sought after because they are great for a family but don't look or perform as cucked as a minivan does. They are also useful for transporting things like bicycles and larger paintings or boxes and such that you have no chance of fitting in a ford fiesta. (Any subcompact really).

Lastly, depending on the SUV they are useful for off-roading. Mainly their appeal is that they are useful for multiple things.

Edit: they also ride higher from the ground than a sedan and it provides much better visibility of the road.
 
I remember several years ago manufacturer would literally give away sedans. We would used to pick out some good sedans here and there since it was so cheap... What used to sell for $13000 is now $18000. Same year. Same mileage... If not more.

Mind fucking blowing...

Manufacturers stopped making sedans altogether. Ford, Chevorlet. Chrysler. All the domestics gtfo out sedan business several years ago just as the SUV boom was taking place. SUVs are considered safer, less on insurance, and higher sitting arrangement which a lot of old people love.

There are several reasons for this but one of the big reason was lack of growth in the segment (I. E. Even Camry sales were stagnating) and their inability to compete with the import manufacturers of Japanese and Koreans. They literally got btfo in everyway and SUV and trucks were making them so much money..

Now they are sitting of thousands of trucks and no buyers.

Sedans are a hole you throw your money into. SUVs retain their value better and trade in for more than a sedan or a subcompact.

I think also people feel safer in a big metal SUV. Whether or not they actually are safer is neither here nor there.

I think part of it is belief, part of it is physics. Out here in where I am every other jackass drives a lifted pickup. I feel like part of this is because if you drive a sedan, no matter how well rated it is, if a lifted truck hits your above the trunk, the only thing in the way is the seats, glass, A,B,C pillars and your head (mostly seems to be air) versus the more "crumple zone" you have in a taller vehicle with trunk, seats, vehicle transmission (still mostly air but I digress).

In a higher SUV, the chance of you getting hit in the head is less because it is higher. The only time I've seen it really make a difference was versus a semi-trailer (ironically). And that guy would have probably been dead anyways. Basically he was distracted (texting) I think and he ran a red light and decapitated himself under it. I guess that's the only time you'd want a lower car, but it more or less was a moot issue.

One thing that can make an SUV less safe is that there is a higher rollover risk while cornering at higher speeds, specifically because it's higher off the ground and so is the center of gravity. That can be mitigated with safe driving but not everyone drives safely.

A Civic will hold up pretty well, and I remember when the shortage was happening I had dealers offering me more in trade in value than I paid for it new. It wasn't much more than I paid and it has very little mileage on it, but everything was fucked back then. Offers have gone to more reasonable amounts now, though it's still held up well.
 
If the Fed seriously reverses course on rate-hikes less than six months into the tightening cycle, I'm just giving up on housing forever. Fuck it, let's have the government underwrite 60 and 90 year mortgages so we can keep driving up the price of a shitty mid-tier city suburban house from 250K back in 2015 to 1-2 million by 2025. Let's get the average rent up to 6000$ a month.

It seems like the only consistent policy the government has is permanently and irrevocably fucking up the housing market.
