Going back to Colin Moriarty for a second, I didn't know who he was then and I don't care or follow him now but what happened was an exemplary sign of the times we live in.
It was posted way back in this or the journalism thread plus other places that some (let's assume woke) people had set their sights on him way before he was ousted and they were just waiting for something, anything, that would let them attack him and drive him out. That's why when he made that tweet things went from zero to sixty in a split second and those that weren't actively driving him out would turn a blind eye, defending him right then would not be in their best interest.
A lot of people scratched their heads over the enormous and wide reaching outrage over such a tame joke and that was because it was an actual conspiracy behind it, not the natural reaction to a tweet.
They continue to attack him because he didn't go away forever, it was not just about getting him fired, they also wanted to burn his life down for reasons I can't remember, but it was probably over something stupid that wouldn't get much traction if they try to use it for a social media lynching. Must have been some real petty shit.
tl;dr
Actions have consequences even if the actions are vague, confusing and only known to a secret cabal of cunts.
