Here's what Microsoft needs to do regarding Japan.

They need to hire Itagaki and buy the rights to DOA and Ninja Gaiden and publish a new Itagaki led DOA and Ninja Gaiden.

I'm actually surprised Microsoft didn't buy Team Ninja back during the heyday of their relationship with Xbox, it would have made perfect sense, but it's not too late.

Either way whether it's DOA and NG or not Microsoft needs to help Itagaki make a new game.

It's not going to happen for a good long while, they just spent 7 billion to buy bethesda and it's going to take even more money to sort everything else out legally. Just like how Disney buying Fox took them years and are still sorting it out and wound up now crippling them when the economy turned sour. Bethesda's purchase is on par with that. Something goes wrong, that's a massive rock around their neck.

KT/Gust also just had Atelier Ryza and Atelier Ryza 2 become one of their best selling games and the sequel become the most pre-ordered game in their history. There's no xbox one version on the horizon. Any type of nitche Japanese game on the xbox is digital only which means they're not getting prime coveted space to be promoted or getting physical releases.

Whether it's DOA and Ninja Gaiden or not, I don't see what Microsoft would have to lose by funding Itagaki's next game, it certainly wouldn't cost them 7 billion dollars.

Even if the ship is sailed now though I do think it was a huge missed opportunity for Microsoft not to buy Team Ninja.

I dunno you can compare them to Fromsoft as small japanese developers that grew and got bigger and more prominent and the choices the Team Ninja games made as far as gameplay went were not really good ones. Kinda of Platinum making their games overly tedious or real shallow depending on the day of the week, they couldn't get a consistant quality that would attract a solid base.

This is the same story from last week that was mis-represented.

Players are allowed to record each other and can submit their conversation to sony for moderation purposes if they were wronged by a person online. Sony will not be having employees listen to randos over the network like the NSA and feds do.

This is par for the course with any online network now, even Battle.net has it. You could even use third party software to record people and submit it to any major online network to get people banned for years. I had a family member fuck up and get my my original Xbox 360 account banned when they played SMITE on it and shit like that happened because he kept throwing insults.

That entirely depends, on PC yeah you could have dedicated private servers you can run if it's outside the influence of a major digital platform like Steam and Battle.net. But on consoles all online activities are on a platform even if it's a private room.
