In the past pretty much every contract I've signed have had details about respecting peoples this and that with the intention to keep personal politics OUT OF THE WORKPLACE. Just so that people don't turn against each other. Imagine if Iron Grinders Team 1 started to protest and try to sabotage their fellow workers, Iron Grinders Team 2, that would be lunacy and ruin for the mill! Imagine if the mill supported it.

I actually miss the days when emails came out and said to keep personal politics out of work and do the job you’re asked/assigned to do. Now these days, it’s pander central to be mindful of other people’s feelings while work gets half-arsed or not even done correctly.

It literally won't matter who they replace him with. Sony Group has plans already well in motion about IP growth and branding that have so far worked very much in their favor, Jim Ryan has stuck around this long because he does not resist what Tokyo tells him to do. So if he does wind up replaced it's going to be with another person who will agree to everything that the parent company says.

People were baffled by shit like the bungie purchase and put that supposed gaff on him, but that had less to do with Microsoft and more to do with games like Apex Legends and to a lesser extent Fortnite since while Sony is one of Epic's sugardaddies, Fortnite is still not Sony's own homegrown IP even though it still generates a lot of revenue for their platform.

Demagoguery and extremism and its dangers are pretty much the one unifying bond of Bioshock 1 and Infinite (despite the latter's Voyager-tier sci fi pretensions). In both the revolutionaries are never better than the regime they're overthrowing. Splicers are drugged up, anarchic maniacs, and the Vox Populi are brutish thugs that throw people out of their homes and threaten to rape the owners' wives.

Eurogamer put out a preview/puff piece where they interviewed a couple of Nu-Saints Row devs and the fun thing is that the higher ups seem to have told them to cool it. "I was the one that came out and said, 'the Saints are not coming back', and that can be very nerve wracking." - maybe you shouldn't tell the Saint's Row players that.

But even with the huge swathe of cosmetics included within the game itself, the Saints Row team has decided to keep the protagonist's pronouns gender neutral, with the Boss always being referred to as either "they", "them" or "you" throughout. This is something the developers say is purely for technical reasons, and not done to suggest the Boss is non-binary.

"Trying to put all that together with eight different voices and to have multiple different options in there and also to then make it feel natural... That alone would be a challenge that, just right now, is not something that we're looking at facing," Allen said.

It was "just some extra voice lines" when other games like Assassins Creed didn't have multiple genders, or when Cyberpunk had your pronouns tied to voice.

I've always been confident in this, and I personally have loved what we've made. So yeah, it can be frustrating, but I'm also pretty confident still.

And it wasn't, from my point of view, as if we had to pivot or shift or anything [following the announcement's reception]. It was, 'this is this is the path we've been going down this whole time,' and we've been very confident in that.

There's a general trend to now shy away from diversity stuff after what happened to Disney and it essentially playing both sides.

I mean Bill Mahr the other night was in earnest saying shit that looked like it was ripped right from /pol.

Considering in the recent preview video nothing really looked out of place compared to previous games.

As someone who only played the games (3 and 4) for the first time last year, I am looking forward to dancing on its grave.
