It's been done to death but here's one more crack at it: retards really need to have their heads examined if they can't tell the difference between ham-fistedly inserting obviously one-sided political lecturing that coincidentally aligns with all modern popular progressive views... and a fuckin ameriboo nip obsessed with action movies and the horrors of nuclear war. I like that they were trying rope fallout into this and every attempt was another example of missing the point so hard it makes sense why no one tries anymore since anything remotely close to subtlety is a waste of your time.

I have no clue why dummies like pineapple here get a taste of clout via content that is decidedly apolitical in almost every regard an inevitably devolve into slapfights (of course via twitter where else) over politics.

Bioshock Infinite was anti extremist as well (until Burial at Sea Part 2 where they retcon her because a black female socialist revolutionary becoming a terrorist leader either didn't sit well with the team, games journos, or both)

Also Fallout is about how the inherently destructive nature of man leads them to make the same mistakes over and over again to the point where pointless large scale wars are being fought over literal radioactive wastelands because we as a species have an irrational need for conquest and destruction.

Anyone injecting current year politics into Fallout is writing shitty fan fiction. They're very basic "humans suck" stories.

There was a study a couple of years ago done by an association of publishers/libraries/librarians(not to be confused with libertarians) that examined why Young Adult fiction had been growing so rapidly over the years.

People don't read as much anymore but YA can be extremely popular and sell massive amounts and this makes it a curiosity, why is that? They found that many people don't want shades of grey(unless there's 50 of them) and when finishing the book they wanted the ending to clearly lay out who won. It should be decisive not nebulous, can't even be a thunkworthy "they won but at what cost?". Finishing the book and having to think about things like morality, personal cost and implications of actions is just an annoyance and confusing.
It was just a small study in Norway centered around young people, but young people grow older and they carry their preferences with them and we all know how Harry Potter, Twilight and Hunger Games(I don't know more YA books) and the genre in general continues to be close to the heart of many adults. I feel like there's something to this.

This is also a type of thinking that I have encountered in real life from seemingly sane, rational people. I know a sane, educated and rational adult woman(with some interest in YA) who was a huge fan of House of Cards. When talking about it I said that I thought Doug Stamper was a good character and was met with an immediate "no, he bad man, evil!". What the fuck? And this went on for a while, the Stamper character shouldn't be removed from the show because it would make the show less, but he should be boo'd by the viewer. It actually shocked me. There's some kind of pro-wrestlingification of fiction and entertainment going on. [edit: meaning that the separation between what is on screen and reality is growing thinner despite the viewer knowing the difference]

I will say at least they aren't like everything else trans people have taken over and every single page on the site doesn't have something personally about them and their gender identity littering every page. I could do without all the furry shit on the streams, but at least I can still read about stuff for now.

The trouble with Rapture is it's libertarian system is what allowed someone like Fontaine to flourish like he did, but in both Bioshocks it rightfully presents leftist rebellions as being nothing but destructive forces led by hucksters, even though he watered that down a bit with Infinite's DLC.

Anti-extremist is what it boils down to, but it's also a critique of libertarianism as taking an overly rosy view of human nature, too much freedom inevitably leads to that dynamic of communism/fascism as things spiral out of control, which is arguably what's been happening in real life since the game came out.

All she was was a woman in a bikini, pretty mild at the end of the day compared to some things and this was in a series that had fanservicey female characters before as well as frequent moments where male characters are shirtless or even nude, it was tonally consistent with what the series always was up to that point and again... it was just a bikini.

But because it was 2015 even a bikini was a BIG FUCKING DEAL that is worthy of OUTRAGE! GRRRR, WE HATE ANY FEMALE SKIN BEING SEEN EVER! GRRRR!

It was a perfect example of how tight people's assholes were getting and sadly it's never gotten any better since.

Personally I have no problem with the tweet, its a normal fart sniffing gaming tweet. But he got so mad that he ran multiple block bots on his own followers, and everyone who quote tweeted. And this wasn't the first time lol

It's a mix of social desirability bias and having too much of good thing. This occurs in all media and even sub genres.

Horror games were rife with this. James Sunderland in Silent Hill 2 was a good character, and that story had a good twist. This quickly devolved into a formula where ever character needed a dark past they had suppressed. MMOs have it with players constantly talking about raids, but only a small percentage of the player base touch them. Ask a DnD player what kind of game they want to play, they'll say an open world game with NPCs, factions, and intrigue, but in practice want a linear dungeon crawl with epic loot.

Moral ambiguity, deep characterisation, or downer endings can work in small amounts. Look at films like The Joker, The Mist, or Silence of the Lambs. But most of the time, people want to see Vin Diesel drive fast cars and blow things up.

Games can be political and it's fine but when the politics are personal and tied to the nuts of the creator it becomes embarrassingly apparent and annoying. I always found it funny that Cliff thought that Gears of War was a metaphor for the Military Industrial Complex, yet the recent one had an addition where you’re allowed to show a rainbow trans flag on your army outfit.
