What happened to all that ESG stuff where they actually make more through woke investors than they do by the product they turn out? Pretty sure that's still a thing. Birds of Prey is getting a spin-off movie, by the way, and its Black Canary is appearing in the new Flash movie. Money doesn't matter to them because its all 1s and 0s now and they can just make up more.
Last I checked, it depended on the country. I think it was Norway that used to use ESG but ditched it since it was working. I haven't looked into much since it first went mainstream on Joe Rogan, so don't quote me on that.

black rock doesn't have unlimited funds either, just quite a lot of it, and they're burning through billions. and I highly doubt their new and better world (tm) will happen anytime soon or without the old blowing up, which will take a lot of that money with it (in assets, contracts etc.).
and that's after companies and countries have jumped ship because money only gets you re-elected or your company running for so far.

trying to forcefully subvert the population has never really worked, not even when governments tried to do it for decades.

I wasn't too sure on it since both Disney and Netflix have been taking pretty huge hits on the stock market despite being everything the ESG asks for.

Nice to see Spawn Wave not waste time and admit that Microsoft is making XBOX into more than just an original fat rectangle console that will now make Activision/Blizzard work for them now.

2020’s for Microsoft will be an interesting time to see how far mega conglomerates will make their corporation shine.

I think it's important to figure this out.

People are essentially treating the ESG thing like how Epic would buy out games to put on the EGS (weird how they are the same words as ESG huh) so basically no one needs to buy the game since the dev costs were theoretically covered by Epic.

And one way to figure out if something woke actually did become popular; Are people still talking about it? Is it getting fan art? Is the general sentiment positive and genuine? Is it getting genuine hype and excitement?

Blackrock has something like 10 trillion in assets under management, which is over 5% of the entire global economy. Their boss Larry Fink is fucking obsessed with ESG and has managed to spread the idea to many other CEOs in similar positions.

But I think what you're seeing with ESG is lots of throwaway bullshit getting made to boost the ESG score so companies can make slight less ESG-friendly products which are more likely to sell. Granted, a lot of ESG stuff sells anyway, Disney Star Wars made money up until Solo bombed, Rise of Skywalker went grossly over-budget, and they invested billions of dollars in a shitty theme park that got closed within months of opening because of China's virus. I always come back to Disney Star Wars because it's almost the ur-example and template for how things work these days.
The difference is woke products and ESG products don't want a fandom, they don't want too many people as fans, only as consumers who come and go
I disagree. ESG NEEDS fans because fanboys are some of the dumbest people on the planet. The people who bitch about how Pokemon sucks now yet go buy the newest Pokemon game are exactly the target audience. If they released the most lazy, half-assed Pokemon game full of glitches that played itself where half the people in the game were troons and black people ranting about how veganism and saving the planet rules, people would still buy it because it had the name "Pokemon" on it and it would be a smashing success because it was cheap as hell to produce some Twitter troons coded it and wrote all the dialogue. They could do that a few more times before enough fanboys caught on and only the most hardcore soyboys cared anymore.

The thing is, no one takes preaching in media seriously as we seen in the last couple of years while dumb shit like "Youtubers for change" or whatever wokeshit go rightfully downvoted. The leftists are too cynical to see the corps doing the right thing so they don't support corporate attempts at wokeness even if you have doomsayers screaming from the top of their lungs.

So the new strategy is to completely excise your fanbase and plant shills and obedient drones/astroturfs who back said shills to speak on your behalf.

Why else do franchises like Warhammer alienate people like Arch and his fanbase of actual Warhammer secondaries and put in new ToS designed to fuck over the fancontent makers aside from money?

Nah, GenCon will still be great. It's hard to gather that many board gamers together and have it not be fantastic. (Yes, those eighty year-old men playing war games in the corner are OG spergs.) I simply enjoy the sudden and necessary inclusivity angle being played at a convention I've never noticed anyone being left out of. It's an odd niche to have sub-groups.
P1-"Hey, I enjoy board games!"
P2-"You mean, like Monopoly?"
P1-"Fuck, no! Let me show you how board games can be challenging and fun."
P2- "But are you inclusive enough, though?"
P1- "Do you want to play board games?"

I'm not going to support anything that shits all over Gary Gygax at every available opportunity. Fuck those people.

It's like shitting on Mark Twain or Shakespear, his establishment/popularization of a genre is widely documented and known and whatever they do they can't tear it away from his legacy since they're pretty much connected and one would not exist without the other. Like if you want to go back to pre-D&D they would find games like Gettysburg, but Gygax used those as a template to make D&D. They really can't erase him no matter what they try.

Better hope it's just the promotional art material receiving the change and not actually in-game, but it's the kind of thing that makes me distrust western releases for japanese games as usual

For those who don't know, it's the remake of Pocky & Rocky / Kiki Kai Kai soon releasing on Switch and PS4.
