Don't you love how "there are Natsees" has become THE rallying cry for these services to maintain their monopoly and crush any competition.
 
Sony has bought Evo and has mandated that all games not on playstation platforms will be forbidden from being played. if you believe the lie that "it will be open to all platforms" you're gullible as hell. All the games listed are multiplats and will be played on playstation hardware, any and all voting for additional slots will be fucking fixed.

This has now caused a chain effect of all major fighting game publishers to pretty much be queued up to sign exclusivity deals and for Hori to pretty much just manufacture arcade sticks for a single platform now.

This has also had the wonderful side effect of killing smash brothers melee. Nintendo will not be hosting any equivalent tournaments and has been actively shutting down any event that gets too big. With nowhere to go melee fags have finally met their end, some are trying to organize a mail campaign so that nintendo will re-release melee for the switch while some are saying they can make a melee clone be just as successful even if it uses knockoff nintendo characters (does nobody remember Icons and Brawlout?)

Get ready for a fucking Fate fighting game because that's what's probably happening.

Honestly I think this was something that was eventually going to happen in some form. The original people who started evo fucked it all up for themselves and it was pretty much signaling that they needed a big corporate sponsor to go forward and make the bad things go away. Evo still had all the major fighting series be centered around it and nothing rose up to replace it in it's absence.

This won't really change things much in Asia since many of the series were already running on the same equipment, however no way in hell will Smash Brothers stick around as one of the main draws when it's a not only a direct competitor, there's also the fact that companies like Bandai Namco and Capcom are going to be part of that Funimation/Kadokawa deal and are tied to Crunchyroll with many of their IPs having exclusive distribution there. Bandai's upcoming online event is geared towards Western Audiences and most of the games to be shown have an anime adaptation coming out or will be coming out. They're also putting a ton of Tales of stuff out in the near future both anime and game related.

How did they fuck it up? I've never followed EVO or fighting games but since they were the first (and I assume) really the only game in town how did they blow it?

It was a bit worse than your average #metoo pile on. One of the founders (Mr. Wizard) was accused of creeping on underaged boys in the fighting game scene dating back to the pre-esports arcade days. Mainly "contests" and "bets" that conveniently involved getting naive 12-17 year olds to strip or expose themselves for prizes. Despite their claims to the contrary, there's a 0% chance the other EVO founders and other FGC powerbrokers from that era didn't know. Just something to keep in mind the next time you see any of these fucking clowns woke posting for clout on social media.

Woke posting at this point is a game in itself and nobody is sincere about it. Even after you have everyone conform to woketards it won't be good enough because then the next stage is that people are just conforming out of fear and they don't really hold those beliefs so everyone must be tested and retested until only the true believers and whittled down to what remains, but at that point you have everyone exiled now greatly outnumbering the in crowd. It's not a system that can sustain itself because it relies on destroying things and not replacing them with anything better or worthy in it's place.

It's probably one of the better examples of game thoery in action, and I don't mean game creation. I mean the game theory made by the paranoid schizophrenic John Nash.

It also doesn't help that the woketards themselves hold up their own prejudices. That's basically what their humanities degrees did to them, was replace one set of prejudices with a different set.

This is kinda overblown, tbh. Yes, the woketards try to get alternatives to their bullshit shut down, but a lot of the time they either don't succeed or if they succeed with one service another one takes it's place. Hatreon got nuked, but Subscribestar is still around. Vidme is dead(I don't know if this one is due to woketards, actually.)but Bitchute, Odysee, Rumble and Dailymotion all exist. Communities get kicked off of Reddit and just set up on .win instead.

Hell, even the Daily Stormer still exists. A viable alternative to Twitch is inevitable, frankly. It's just a matter of who will create one that sticks around.

much easier to set up another forum or whatever compared to a whole streaming service. and the one bankrolling it must want to be a competition, not just bait to be bought out by a big corp. and remember, not even microsoft could make mixer (mostly because it's ms, but still).

Oh I was never under the illusion that such a thing would be easy or even likely within the next few years, but rather that if Twitch continues down it's current course it will eventually wind up being out-competed by someone who offers a better service eventually.

that's the ideal outcome, but it's more likely any competition just gets bought out and shuttered while the market leader keeps stagnating because there is no competition. no one would use twitch or youtube with it's retarded rules and inconsistent policies if they didn't have to.
much easier to get VC this way too, when you can promise a big payout 1-2 years down the line instead of having to grow your business from the ground up and need to take care of it's growth.

one counter to this is splitting them up to cut them down in size and have parts compete on their own instead of getting carried by amazon or google, but that's not gonna happen with the current us administration, so they're safe for at least another 4 years (probably more).
