Chess.

Preferably on a wooden board against a strong opponent.

While drinking a nice cup of Darjeeling.

Watch out boys we got a big brained nigga over here

In all seriousness though, Arx Fatalis is a pretty good game if you can get past how bad it is

Earthbound/MOTHER

The games had a lot of heart and quirks programmed that were atypical of other RPGs its time, like character specific conditions and real time based events.

Can we discuss board games here? I'm looking for a fun board game for 2 players, maybe 3. Something along the lines of Scrabble, Monopoly, or Risk.

Tenchu Z, Bladestorm, Kingdoms Under Fire, various Tycoon games, Fall From Heaven 2, and some others I can't think of.

Giants: Citizen Kabuto

It's three games in one, the story is actually alright, and there's some decent humor there, too. I heard something about a remake a while ago, but nothing since.

CarnEvil was a pretty neat light gun shooter game I liked to play back in the 90's and early 2000's when I was a kid. The mall nearest to where I lived had a Tilt Arcade with this machine and it was fun. Never got a console release or sequel, but from what I can gather, it has a small yet devoted cult following complete with some fanon and the like.

Other obscure "cult classic" games I like include Time Crisis (beloved by light gun game fans but otherwise forgotten), the Army Men franchise, and the first Empire Earth for the PC.

Toe Jam and Earl. Patiently waiting for the new one to come out. Shenmue as well, but that I got into more for it's hysterical voice lines that aren't supposed to be funny.

So many games but on the top of my head Gladius, a fun ancient world gladiator themed tactical turn based RPG by Lucasarts. Unpolished IMO but still a fun game that I play once in a while.

I also want to play again Ghost Trick for the DS. A game made by the same people of the Ace Attorney games where you guide a object possessing spirit to solve your supposed murder and identity.

Oh, the Shining Force games made by Camelot before they left Sega. The Genesis to Saturn games are great and the translated Shining Force 3 trilogy is a good reason to find a good Saturn emulator or a modded Saturn.
