Chris is autistic. Anyone asking “how could she have fallen for this it’s so stupid” needs to remember that. Autistic and isolated from having pretty much any socialisation for years. The internet is the one place Chris gets to talk with others, it’s easy for any normal person to get trolled but even easier for someone who’s autistic and never really had friends that haven’t been just pretending to like her.
Stop trying to look at this logically, what’s important isn’t why Chris fell for this, it’s what can be done to help make sure this shit doesn’t keep happening. We all like a good laugh here, but this isn’t funny anymore. With how much Chris was willing to just go along with whatever these cunts said makes me honestly think they could have told her to kill herself and she would have put a good amount of thought into it.
Sonichu has been pretty much all Chris has had for years now- the only way she gets contact with others is from people who see the trolling and think lol i want a turn. If everyone around you was treating you like some fantasy comic world was real for years on end, eventually you would start believing it or at least give thought to it being real. Now it’s at the point where Chris believes it’s real- I don’t even know if it counts as delusional if it’s basically been slowly encouraged for the past like 10+ years. A group home would be better than psychiatric care imo- i don’t think this is something that’s gonna just be able to be “fixed” with therapy and honestly, would you really want it to be? Chris is pretty happy in her little world, if people didn’t take advantage of that, there wouldn’t be an issue. Living somewhere where there was help to make sure that she is taking care of herself well and trying to help her manage her finances etc would be a lot better than just trying to get her committed.
Also, like others, i work with Autistic kids- some extremely severe to the point where they’re pretty much non-verbal. They’re not crazy, they have a learning disability and it’s not gonna get better. That’s why we run the service we do- to give disabled kids somewhere to play and socialise with other disabled kids so they can have a life just like the rest of us. Chris needs that kind of environment- somewhere to meet other people with similar interests and try to make some actual real life friends whilst being supported by others to make sure no one is exploiting her.
TLDR: Chris is autistic not crazy, she needs support to live with it not being committed and drugged up to “fix” it.
