Sometimes I feel bad for Bankman. He's just a generic degenerate who happened to have been decent at cryptocurrency, but then his parents (probably at the behest of the establishment) decided to turn into some big-name fraudster/money launderer.
Nah, he is worse in just every way possible. Madoff was at least competent enough to keep fooling everyone for years, while Bankmen trusted a woman to be silent. And there's all the ties of Bankmen to WEF, the Dems and other disturbing new world order (though I wouldn't be surprised Madoff was also a member of). Also the scale of the amount Bankmen pocketed seems to be insane.

Honestly would be worthwhile to check on who FTX ended up bailing out in the spring, logic would dictate that they are now in trouble

To add to this, Madoff made his last legit trade in the early to mid-90s. He managed to keep it going for almost 15 years. He also was brought down due to the crash of '08.
In comparison, FTX was founded in 2019, and was brought down by a Tweet from its rival, Changpeng Zhao. ( I know the fraud brought FTX down but the house of cards started to collapse with the Tweet)

I might be remembering this wrong, but Madoff was made the by the press to be the sole cause of the 2008 crash (as being the only individual named and consistently featured in the media) despite a ton of other bodies and individuals who had more direct effect. I always wondered how many of the victims of Madoff were ordinary people who's lives were ruined, rather than members of the elite.

You very much are. The big "Oh shit" moment for the 2008 great financial was in march, when Bear Stearns went under, and at least NPR at the time was very much open and talking about Credit Default Swaps and Mortgage Backed Securities. Hell, they even did planet money to explain all the bullshit.

Madoff was 6 or so months after that, so either what you watched ignored it until then, or you just focused on the easy story (because the rest of it is complicated BS)

Also, you couldn't invest with Madoff unless you had millions to play with, so not to many regular joes were involved with him

Madoff was intereresting 'cuz it was an actual ponzi scheme that had gone on for so long

and people HAD warned about it for years (the returns filed were sus af) but nobody cared until it exploded

Your last sentence is incorrect. Many normies were affected because pension funds invested in Madoff's firm, so a bunch of people lost their retirements.

He literally robbed everyone. Celebrities, politicians, hedge funds, pensions, you name it. He had 37,000 victims in 136 countries. Just insane.

I mean, Celebs, politicians, hedge funds ect I have a hard time feeling too bad about. For the pensions, if some got massively hosed, I blame the manager who had the fiduciary duty as much as Madoff because "boy, this guy can promise double digit returns for years is totally legit and responsible" are retarded. And they are getting paid a percent yearly off the fund to be that fucking retarded.

I am not one to absolve incredibly well paid people of their fiduciary duty. Part of the job is risk management, if you are not capable of that, you are as much to blame as the guy who swindles you.

Everyone on that list except the pension funds i don't give a fuck about. They took a speculative risk that seemed too good to be true and lost.

The pensioners i feel bad for. The system gives them little control over how their money gets managed and i agree that it's the fault of the fund managers that got in bed with Madoff.

Coffeezilla somehow managed to land an interview with SBF.
EDIT: Not Coffeezilla doing the interview. I'm a dumbass for seeing the title and watching 30 sec before posting.

Madoff's victims have ended up getting back 70% of their principal. FTX is not even going to be a fraction of that.
Madoff at least had US property and valuable belongings that could be sold for some coin at auction. He had a yacht (or boat), several vacation homes and some cash on hand too. If SBFs money is tied up in his shitcoin and offshore assets in the Bahamas, recovery gets alot more difficult. He's a millennial so I doubt he placed significantly less on ownership than someone of Madoffs demographic, meaning less assets to liquidate.

It also really doesn't help that SBF and friends seem to have run everything through the company credit account. I'm talking things like owing Margaritaville $55k.

Coffeezilla didn't land the interview, he is just in contact with someone who did.

Still and interesting video though. I get the suspicion that Bankman agreed to the interview because the interviewer is an Asian woman he wanted to add to the polycule.
