Dishonord's chaos system was absolute dogshit. 8 out of 10 powers and equipment are only useable in high chaos and if you actually try to have fun with the tools the game gives you you get the bad ending.
No? blink, dark vision, posession and bend time all have non lethal application. Hell, even devouring swarm level 1 since it really is just a distraction in most situations and also pairs with posession for a free room cross. Whats that even leave? shadow kill and adrenaline? You're still allowed to kill and get low chaos, shadow kill stops 1 kill turning into full alert and adrenaline is just a carry over from dark messiah and the only true loud skill. Also I forgot wind blast, level 1 is just a stun as long as you dont use it near a cliff letting you disengage as well as deflecting projectiles and level 2 opens doors.

The bigger issue is tools, most items only have lethal use in dishonored 1, the dlc added smoke bombs and stun mines which were carried over to D2 and DotO added the magnet mine which also has non-lethal mode. Also the pistol can also open doors.

Also high chaos is very lenient with the biggest factor being how you handle targets. Also high chaos is a reward for killing because it adds more enemies.

Devouring swarm 2, Windblast, Vitality, Bloodthristy, Shadowkill, Summon Asassin, Arcane bond.

Also, the pistol and all its upgrades and ammo types, 2/3rds of crossbow ammo, half the crossbow upgrades (in the second game), as well as springrazors, stickies and grenades.

Whenever I replay dishonored 1/2 I end up with so much spare money and runes that it starts to feel annoying due to the ammount of upgrades I can't buy or have no use for.

Adding more enemies doesn't matter if you get the shit ending because at that point you're ignoring the actual game and ruining your immersion. If you kill every guard but spare all the targets you still get the bad ending and I don't wanna measure my playthroughs with a pippete to make sure I didn't kill an arbitrary number of guards.
