Anybody have any clue if this means anything? In the level "Paradise" when you go into the basement with red lights where the target that brags about programming is, there is a screen that shows a 3x3 grid of ears if you shine the flashlight on it. What the hell? Maybe it's telling the player to listen? I know you can hear zombie moaning near sewer grates in that level.

Probably just for flavor, or an easter egg if you bothered to bring the flashlight all the way there.

I never was able to figure out where the noises were coming from.

Bro bring the flashlight and go into I think the first big house on the left when you start. There are some guards in the house but the basement is pitch black and has a flower chimera at the entrance. there is a whole little area down there filled with zombies and soldiers. I think you need Divine Link Restored to access the main underground area. Definitely bring the flashlight and tread very carefully. zombies can't hurt you if you are crouching because their attacks always go over you.

I was aware of the crouching trick but I didn't know there was other shit down there other than the Red-eyed fuckers with the rifles and the painting.

There's a secret level warp, there's a few others throughout the game as well and you need to do them all to access the final stage.

There's an illusory wall. If I recall right, it's literally the only one in the game.

No there's others. The ship stage has one for another secret. There's one in the second swamp level hiding a door in the base. Probably some others. Also if you count destructible walls there's a lot more.

No, but you will experience what psychedelic drugs are like without taking any.
What the fuck, I played cruelty squad for 41 minutes and now I'm suddenly a discord admin and I'm grooming a bunch of 16 year olds and sending them Brazilian cat hair estrogen?

Not new information but CSP is making a new game. It's been shown off for a year or so now on his personal twitter seems like it'll be a more in depth immersive sim.

Its a subgenre of game. Everyone understands what it means, if you like deus ex and system shock as well as the stylings of cruelty squad which already had elements of these games youll probably enjoy this game.
And this is why I hate the classification. Deus Ex and System Shock and Cruelty Squad are not at all similar outside of surface-level qualities.

They're both first person shooter/rpg hybrids where the rpg mechanics and choices have real impact on the outcome of the game. Deus ex is more of a stealth game (at least it can be) while system shock leans more toward survival horror, genres are all arbitrary at the end of the day but it helps categorize things and ultimately for many reasons if you like deus ex you most likely enjoy system shock 2 and vice versa. I can also make the assumption that you'd enjoy the first 3 Thief games, Fallout 3/New Vegas, Arx Fatalis, Ultima, even Cruelty Squad and many others. The categorization may be arbitrary but its still very helpful.

Both Deus Ex and SS2 are heavily inspired by Ultima in fact and their UI's are nearly identical. They're more the same than they are different which is why everyone inherently understands what "immersive sim" means just by being given a list of which games fall into the category.
