the author responds by saying he literally made shit up as he went along
Which is abundantly clear if you go back and read his devlogs.
That's probably why symbolism for the first final boss is subliminally inserted over the entire game while LIFE is on a single computer screen in a secret map added in the update before the LIFE ending was added.

My neighbor is a pretty cool guy.

I tried, I tried so hard to like this game...

I don't. It drives me crazy. Maybe some day looong in the future when my brain is chutney I can go back and give it another try but for now...

fuck this game.

That's fine, dude. This game is a fucking mess. It's just such a fascinating mess that it makes it a little bit worth it if you stick it out. It is 100% not for everyone, and even the starting control scheme it offers is particularly wonky and nonsensical.

What the heck do the Eyes of Corporate Insight do??
Helps with market transactions.
I like the gun that turns people inside out.
dna scrambler also turn zombies inside out so it's the best way to deal with them, you can also use a armor piercing weapon to deal damage to the armored zombies so you can scramble them on trauma loop.
funny thing about the game is that with the golem suit the missions past apartment atrocity becomes nigh impossible unless you have a backup item, i tried running with the golem suit but even bog business was impossible for me, archon grind is interesting because of the bug with the stealth suit + minifier to make abraxas unkillable since he cannot detect the player.

no templeos emoticon on the farms, what a disgraçe

It really is a good game. It's the sort of game that Matthewmatosis would/should do a video on. Cruelty Squad even satisfies his extremely autistic desire for active reload mechanics.

I played it, almost completed, but got bored. Overall I'll say that it's not bad, but rather overrated. The only reason it got popular is that it made players go
Wow, a game that looks like that is actually enjoyable! Unbelievable!
If it had a normal art style, it would probably go unnoticed.
Oh, and it runs like shit despite looking like something that was made back in the 90's.

At least for me, I'd say it's less "Wow, this shitty looking game is good" and more "Wow, someone made a professional game that looks like all the bizarre Roblox and Goldsrc shit I've played".
How bad does it run for you? I haven't played the latest update but it's alwayr run really well for me.
I usually played it with a browser full of tabs in the background and it ran like a dream. I can't remember the exact metrics but it was using a minuscule amount of RAM and processing speed (as most games fucking should).

I think it dips below 30 fps while running at native resolution(measly full HD). Compare that to Dusk, which also looks like it's made in the nineties, but runs at stable 60 fps at same resolution.

For context, his computer is an Apple from 2011.
Ah, right. My best guess is it's because Godot only recently added occlusion culling to the 3.0 branch so nothing behind walls is culled.
There's also the fact that Unity was originally specifically an Apple engine so it's no surprise that it runs better.

I think it's more about the optimization of individual games.

I've been loving this game. Recently started a new file, and have unlocked all the implants and weapons, except for the Zippy. I've been having no luck with that in the casino, so far. Easily the best game of 2021.
