What I don't understand is the lack of coverage on Silent Hill 2 given his interest in that era of gaming.
That remake looked like shit. The internet is fake and gay with how much hype it got when it was new, disregarding how all of classic SH2’s grittiness really made that game what it was.

SH1 is the one that needs a remake, and not like Shattered Memories which was more or less a retelling. Literally just a Silent Hill 1 but made to look like SH2 Classic is what I want.

It's getting one by blooper. 1 doesn't need to be remade at all. The soundtrack will never be the same. It will only be raped and ruined.

Silent hill 1 is a platform definer. You don't need to remake it. Not even in later entries graphics.

If it's really what you want then maybe someday someone can remake the SH2 PS2 prototype with Cybil in the cafe if we get decompiled PC ports and go from there.

Silent Hill 1 was lightning in a bottle - a perfect example of developers working around technical limitations to create a masterpiece that defined a genre.
It could never have the same impact with "improved" presentation.

People should experience jank in its purest form. Fuck remake shit.

Crowbcat's sensitivity to RE4 indicates to me he's an Older Millennial probably. While I've never been into RE myself, I remember the stranglehold it had on gaming at the time. Forums, magazines, early Internet gaming websites, coverage was wall to wall. Praise was universal.

All this for a game on a console that didn't sell particularly well, and it kind of exploded all over again when it got released on PS2 months later.

I think his bitterness was especially stoked by people saying they never played the original RE4, or people who said it was clunky/outdated/bad. For someone who had probably previously experienced and lived through the highs the original RE4 had, I'm thinking it must sting a lot. Especially if you think over half of them are brainless influencers (Which to be fair they are)
Re4 is one of those insane S rank watershed titles like Half Life that nail the concept so comprehensively it writes the book on how to do it. but that distinction is kind of lost on anyone young because the industry loves destroying its legacy for no benefit. The RE games after 4 are all retarded and Dead Space is a literal mechanical paint-by-numbers piecemeal clone of RE4 by western developers. to someone who is 21 (born after the xbox 360 came out btw) they probably just think most of these uncs are full of shit. I would too if i was that age

Amen.

It still looks beautiful as well especially on a CRT. And plays very well for a PS1 title.

I thought it looked like Lego even way back in 2002.

Which is also around the time it could have gotten a good remake. It shouldn’t get one now, obviously, because it would look sterile and get developed by jeets and retards. The remake I have in mind is currently impossible with the state of the industry.

but shitting on RE 4 Remake was a pure 4chan only opinion
Even before Crowbcat dropped his video, people were already criticizing the remake all over the internet for the changes it made. His video wasn’t even the first one to tear it apart. You just let all the aggressive shilling cloud your judgment.

The reason his video hit as hard as it did is pretty simple: he put both versions side by side and let the differences speak for themselves. That kind of direct comparison shattered the illusion people were trying to maintain. That’s why they went after the audio section so hard—and still failed. At that point, it wasn’t about arguing anymore; they just couldn’t cope with the fact that the narrative had completely fallen apart.

Re4 remake is like the modern day remake of The Thing. It's a remake of something absolutely nobody asked for or could see a purpose for besides trying, and failing, to grasp at the absolutely psychotic delusion that you can just magically do better just because you're attempting it again 20 years later. A monument to hubris.

These things (heh) are so critically acclaimed that the studios can't keep their filthy mitts of of it, but any attempt to actually use new technology and budget to elevate a remaster like they imagine can't actually escape the hair brained requirements of the executives funding it in the first place.

It's poetic, like a george lucas film

Please don't track in The Thing 2011 worshippers here... It's already cancerous enough.

There’s this part in the Metallica documentary Some Kind of Monster that I think perfectly describes why video games remakes are artistically bankrupt. Lars Ulrich is talking to Kirk Hammett about how guitar solos are outdated and that they should replace it. Kirk fires back by saying that by not including guitar solos it will just date the album to this period and it will cement the album to a trend that is happening in music right now.
Kirk ended up being right and the album they were working on is widely regarded as their worst album.

I've seen people refuse to accept that the original had tank controls, so that whole scuffle is retarded from the beginning. "Newfags" seem to gel with the game imo, with the True Fans having a stick up their ass about the purity of the franchise.

Think the worst complaint I've seen about the original RE4 is that it feels comparatively clunky, which is hardly unfair. Game was a goddamn revolution at the time, that its aged well enough to stand against its own remake is evidence of that.
