Oh, and it recently came to my attention that some woman is writing Harry Potter fanfiction where Harry pretty much goes to seminary, Dumbledore is straight, and evolution is a fairytail. I really want to believe this is just a troll, but I know that if they'll start a creationism museum...

I don't know if it's a Poe, but if it's not, it's all the more hilarious.

We have a crazy Christian preacher who comes by my school about 3x a week. Stands in the diag, tells us all we're going to Hell, gets into "debates" with stoners.

Do schools across the country all do this? At my school we always have this fire and brimstone preacher come every year to tell us that we're all going to hell and give the best sex-ed lesion I've ever heard, names brother Jed if you're curious.

I don't remember anyone coming to my school just to say we're damned. I do remember having an awesome sex-ed instructor though back in high school.

It depends on the region the school is based in because when I was in high school I moved in my sophomore year. My first school was right outside of Washington D.C. it was very forward thinking we had sex-ed, diversity clubs, GSA, and even an Atheist club. When we moved to rural Virginia all the school had was a Christian Club and high teenage pregnancy. We even had a fire and brimstone preacher come for a lecture it was a strange assembly all about the evils of sex before marriage and the evils of popular culture. This school was rather tame in comparison to the more devout parts of the Bible Belt where you could not opt out of the assemblies at least the second school had the option to opt out.

This is an old (and very long) post that was powerleveling out the ass so I'm editing it,

tl;dr grandparents went full retard and joined one of those cults after being atheist my entire life. They are being conned and one of them came over to try and exorcise demons from my mom when she was sick. They don't celebrate Halloween or eat devil's food cake because "devil". And they gave a lot of my old toys (which they knew I was still interested in) to children from the cult without asking.

Sparkling Adventures is one I can't even read, I feel so terrible for the kids. Actually, I feel that way about a lot of fundie blogs.

Do not even get me started on her fucking goddamned gayby. Lauren pisses me off more than Ken Ham, Lori Alexander, Steve Anderson and Steve Maxwell combined. I can't stand her bullshit and her attempt at 'giving something to the LGBT community' is utter bullshit. She's just doing it for cool points and ass pats, meanwhile her poor little girls have to pretend the murder of their baby brother was a neutral event and watch while she gives up another baby brother (one due basically on Elijah's second birthday, too). At least when she was a fundie her kids had a roof over their heads (I mean the time before they began their messy slide into "homelessness" as a hobby).

Boy do I know that one, because we had one of those at my school and attendance was mandatory. I pissed off a lot of people when I said I didn't want to attend because I don't believe in abstinence-only sex-ed and believe it to be bullshit (fun fact: Arizona was the first state in the nation to have mandatory abstinence-only sex-ed). The assembly itself was almost like a caricature of these kinds of things. Attempting to be "hip" while over-exaggerating the eeeevil statistics through a very lame, very corny "play". Which they frequently paused to shoehorn in their statistics. The only thing they didn't do was show the pictures of STD-infected genitals, and that was only because they wanted to ensure attendance was mandatory (otherwise we'd have needed permission slips to attend).

He's also being a clown for their "Halloween", they don't celebrate the holiday though because it's evil and have an October Fest (I think it's called) instead
People who think Halloween is evil are retarded and are forgetting the roots of the holiday.

My old school did this. But the bonus to that was, though, in a town of roughly 1,500 people, we had three different churches, and all three of them got into it every year in regards to who was going to speak at what time.

They were also responsible for our schools completely dropping Halloween parties, too (because kids would dress up as witches, and we couldn't have that - not joking, sadly enough, this was the excuse they gave).

I think the fact that they haven't disabled reviews (I think you can still do that?) tells me that it's definitely a troll fic. I'm sure if they were serious, they'd have disabled them by now.

I saw a display for Kirk Cameron's movie in the lobby of my local theater. And while I don't follow his antics too closely, I'll say this: "Actor/executive producer" is usually code for "Dissenters were shot, quickly and quietly."

I heard he released some sort of statement recently in which he more or less said that women belong in the kitchen and raise the children.

I always hate this time of the year because it's when the local homeless shelter really kicks up their ads. There's nothing inherently wrong with a shelter asking for money or supplies. The local government doesn't supply them with funding, as their heavily Christian based. Here's the problem with that

This mission can (and has) persecuted people for their religion. I have seen it myself. Every day you're forced to go into chapel and whether you're religious or hold a different religious stance, practice Christianity. The other option is to end up on the streets. Pride? Love for your own faith? Forget it. If you don't sit there and let them tell you what you should think, you'll be on the cold streets and good luck finding anywhere else, they're the only place in town.

It's not even that, though. No, the worst part is how they treat the homeless. The homeless are treated like garbage. They would spend every moment telling you just how destitute you were, they would harangue you about not having a job (almost impossible to get a job without a standing address and access to a phone. Guess what the mission wouldn't let you use?) and would basically go far to control your life.

They're what I call the 'Business Christians'. They would use religion only as a tool to get more money. Private organizations and church relief groups would pour money into the place, and guess how much of it went to homeless living conditions and individual care? If you guessed 'almost none', ding ding ding, you'd be right. The main director would buy himself a luxury vehicle every year, and his salary was...wait for it...120 K. 120 K for a homeless director of a shelter of maybe a 35 person max occupancy.

This fat cat piece of shit didn't even stop there, no, obviously over inflating his salary and probably skimming funds wasn't good enough for him. See, you could technically donate pretty much anything to the mission. Old electronics, clothing, food items, one time there was even like a pool table we (slave laborers) had to unload from a box truck. He was especially attentive on anything going to the basement. Why? He'd go down there and treat it like his own person stock of goods. Yes, a man who made 120 K a year even stole material donations meant for the homeless or severely impoverished.

I could go in forever about that piece of shit but let's just say he used Jesus's name to make bank.

I don't know if that counts as crazy but that definitely counts as scummy. Got anything else to share?

Oh Dan (the mission director) was crazy, just in different ways. He was a very shrewd manipulator. See while I was there, the mission director was a really old guy and was passing the buck to one of two guys. One was Dan, the other guy was Jim, an old fella I consider pretty close to saintly. I don't know how Dan won out against Jim (who legitimately cared about homeless rights and helping people) but he did.

Dan was crazy in a hard way to explain. There are places in the world which feel closed off from the rest of the world and crazy people can get affluence within the place and just use it for their own little ways. Dan was that kind of man. His office was next to the chapel which was normally out of bounds except for one time of the day, before dinner when services were held. The exception was for when the work program men (which I was a part of) were cleaning out the mission. The chapel wasn't hard work, just mopping the floors, taking out the trash, setting the bibles and hymnals in the proper places. Well one day I skipped lunch because it was nasty (work program men were only allowed to leave one day a week so we were there all day) and so I went into the chapel to do my daily shit. When I got in there he was, I shit you not, loudly fucking the women's coordinator on what I could assume was his desk. He might have well as left his office door open for how loud he was screwing that woman. Keep in mind the two of them were married to different people and supposedly very devout Christians...

It wasn't only that though. He hated blacks. I mean just outright hated them. He wouldn't do anything racist himself though. See, there were two dinner tines. One for mission residents, and the other for impoverished people in the community who needed a meal. The latter could he given bags of food to help supplement the food they had at home. The mission program men were in charge of distributing and putting together the food and we were told, verbatim, to give black people nothing more than stale or moldy bread items because he wanted to discourage 'welfare niggers' from taking advantage of their supplies. Supplies which were donated to them by stores on a weekly basis. We would have fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and we would be forced to throw it in the dumpster because of how much this man hated the poor and especially poor black people.

It didn't even just stop at the black people. There were a father and daughter Italian pair of transients just passing through a few days from New York and he just hated them. Loathed those Italians. He planted a knife from the confiscated items box in the Italian girl's bunk, called the police, and told them she had threatened him. She got hauled away and so did the father because he had gotten pissed off and raised a ruckus.

A guy came into the store today for gift cards, and demanded to know why we didn't have any that said Merry Christmas. 'None of this HAPPY HOLIDAYS bull, I want CHRISTMAS!'

We said all the stuff about how not everybody does Christmas and it's easier to have generic holiday cards than cards for every holiday so it doesn't single anybody out.

He raged a bit about liberals and atheists. Then he bought his shit and then aggressively said, 'HEY GUYS, MERRY CHRISTMAS!' and expected us to say it back. The guy I was working with at the time said, 'I'm Jewish', and I said, 'I celebrate Kwanzaa'. He's black, I'm white.

Guy walked away very annoyed.

Wait, wait, don't tell me, let me guess... Salvation Army? Yeah, no. I'm pretty familiar with how they screw over the needy, especially the non-Christians and the queer kids. Those sanctimonious bell-ringers give out nothing but tension headaches to holiday shoppers. Assholes.

Going back and looking at OP I just gotta say this is ridiculous. My father is Bipolar and I'm very lucky not to have inherited it, I can tell you that he doesn't choose to have mood swings and dramatically altered opinions based on said moods. Funny enough I actually identify as an Orthodox Christian with some sympathies for Theravada Buddhism and certain forms of Ancient Faiths, and I advocate mental health. My dad is more less a Deist and for reasons similar to the Fundamentalists mentioned, refuses to get any sort of treatment; he believes it's more 'Independent Personality Disorder' than 'Bipolar'.
