The second group, which your John sounds like, uses magical thinking to explain it all away. Satan planted all the fossils to confuse us, whispers in the ears of scientists who say our actions have affected the climate, and is generally responsible for anything else they don't want to acknowledge.

It appears Eric Metaxas (another crazy Christian fundie guy) does believe in fossil evidence, but he somehow thinks that it DISPROVES evolution/"Darwinism" somehow.

Ugh these people mentioned in people's power-levely posts make me want to A-log myself off into the Sun.
-These are the people that leave tracts in place of monetary tips saying "Jesus is the only thing you need in this world" while insisting you "give until it hurts."
:heart-empty:I've blanked from memory most of theFundie indoctrination that I've been exposed to, so I really can't share any lulzy Crazy Christian stories.

-Other than a girl telling me that 80's music was "of the Devil" and Billy Idol was particularly Satanic. For some reason.

Two weeks ago a group of some particularly hardcore Christians came to my college headed by possibly the most hardcore Christian preacher I've ever witnessed, the man was stuck in the 50s and the type that called women who wore shorts whores and said word for word "I believe that women should get an education, so I buy my wife cookbooks".

The advertisement for the event itself was can only be described as 'Kick the Christian'.

The event the day of started off by having students be given dollar bills for answering trivia before it moved onto religious trivia that they promised if answered correctly the person would be given 20$. All the questions were the kind that had one bit of information off that you wouldn't notice right away and the guy who participated was given 5$. They only wanted atheists to question them so they could answer back with religious word salad that I swear was more or less used for every question regardless of the context and how the question was poised. Some kid was told he was a murderer because he lied, cheated, and stole at some point in his life. I was told free thought was a sin.

Before I left campus for the day a woman stepped up asking how she could convert members of her family that were either atheists or practitioners of other religions.

Has anyone pointed out the American fundies who think they're the "most oppressed" group in the world?
It's pretty fucking pathetic when in some parts of the world Islamist extremists kidnap and forcibly convert or brutally murder Christians. But no, real oppression is separation of church and state and the local news stations saying "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas".

Something really tasteless that many crazy hardcore Christians do is blame natural disasters on sinners. Basically if you don't meet their high standards it's literally your fault someone died in that recent hurricane, or the tornado last week.

2009 , the year American Christians will be killed en masse in unless we do something NOW!!! The Bible says so! Don't question it! If you stop to consider it, you'll BE DEAD!!!!!!

how about some Christian scare films - made by Estus Pirkle

this one's about hell and features an unbelieving motorcyclist getting decapitated in an accident

this one is called "if footmen tire you, what will horses do" and is about how if America doesn't shape up and follow Rev. Pirkle's advice, the communists will take over and kill millions of people - it depicts torture and mass killings, and a young boy is beheaded after he refuses to stomp on a picture of Jesus

Oh yeah! For a bunch of people who cry about violence in the media, they sure as hell love to see violence among their own.

I wonder if these people ever realize how fucking possessed and wrong their behavior looks to everyone else.
I mean they usually have the anger issues, the drugs, the embezzling, misappropriation of parishioners' monies, adultery, advocacy of genocide/hatecrimes, etc.

They're so worried about the "fruit" others bear, but for some reason they never notice their own rotten fruits driving people into poverty, despair, and suicide. Or even murder. But, hey, what do I know about leadership? I'm just a sinful vessel made for destruction fer tha glerry of GAWD.

If they were to realize how foolish they were, they'd admit being in the wrong. Ego is one hell of a drug though. They'd rather perceive everyone else as being agents of Satans, even if they did see bits of themselves in others.
