I'd say it is highly likely a response to that, they want to make it more difficult to scrape while still making the logs accessible. The archive sites and slur leaderboards were bad enough PR to jolt Valve out of inaction. Also worth noting that they encrypted logs in CSGO demos in the same way, all this does is return CS2 to where CSGO was.

I'm very glad the problem with blood barely being visible has finally been fixed and now it looks more like it was in CS:GO. It's always been a good indicator to know if you're actually hitting shit or not.

Now all that needs to be done is making the bullet tracers a bit thicker and we'd come full circle back to CS:GO.

They also changed the way premiere works so that its randomly selected from 4 chosen maps rather than the last choice picking the map. Kino.

TF2 did it first, albeit with a custom server plugin that added little player/robot/other NPC models that followed players around. This is obviously a more polished version of that, where the chickens don't just phase through walls and objects to follow the player like the "pets" in the TF2 server plugins did. Is the chicken feed to grow your baby chicken into a big chicken? I don't play CS2 so I don't know.
