Content creators in financial disarray after Patreon declines payments

Some creators on Patreon have been left in panic after finding that the platform has declined their payout for this month.

According to tweets from Patreon users, internal problems with the platform caused every single pledge to a creator to be declined. This chargeback also allegedly triggered credit fraud marks from banks.

Those using Patreon as a crowdfunding tool have also posted screenshots of their patrons' pledges being declined in bulk. This isn't ideal for creators relying on Patreon as a main source of income.

Patreon is yet to comment on the issue. The last noise from the company was that it was resolving some connectivity issues.

I'm told this was mainly in relation to adult content creators/porn. Can anyone confirm a trend one way or the other?

EDIT: as the thread pointed out, it was mismanagement just moving to the UK. So apparently the NFSW creators just noticed first. I guess porn/drawing artists are just that much more involved in their communities and pages/income?

what bank were they using and are they using now.

most all payments online go thru either the card backer eg visa Amex or use clearing houses that are international.

i disrespectfully disagree with the former; if i could get paid for something i already do for fun (like playing vidya), i'm going to do just that

if people are foolish enough to give some faggot streamer/youtuber some money, that's on them

the latter. hustle up if you can enjoy a hobby and make money god bless I mean it. But if you do this full time you can make bank look at that fortnight dude pewds etc. that's rare but if I heard they needed money I'd laugh as you'd laugh at anone racking in 5 figures or more a month and still broke.

if you barely eek by and need your next paycheck to it.. get a real job.
 
Well I can’t log in. I follow an author who posts short stories, and offers signed copies and such of their published works. I filled in my name and password, and clicking log-in does nothing.

Edit: even better, you can’t contact them because the recaptcha isn’t working on their contact form.

Problem is caused by Patreon moving their offices to the UK and just suddenly charging everyone from the UK instead of from inside the US.

The people that run this company are fucking stupid as hell lol.

Guess I wasn't wrong to get that software engineer position :thinking:

There's retarded troons and Let's Players on Patreon, but people easily dismiss actual quality services and content funded through it.
