I was never really much into Star Wars but played some great video games on the N64 into Gamecube and Xbox like KOTOR, Battlefield and Rouge Squadron. I always felt those games I played enjoyed the source material compared Disney. Lucasfilms prior to the Disney take over sure shilled garbage to the fans but at least the material that people that can enjoy was good and not to shill the the common dominator. Makes me miss when there was some actual material to enjoy than just merchanting.

My family are big Disney consoomers. I am not thankfully. Like they are on Disney forums arguing with people over the color of the castle or some other asinine detail. They are also huge shareholders too and follow the internal corporate drama so I inevitably hear some of it. The current CEO Chapek has turned Disney into a cheap sellout just doing whats good for the bottom line with no regard for their legacy. They have gotten lazy with their media because they thought the mentally ill consoomers would be braindead enough to pay double for parks and just buy product. Its great for meeting quarterly quotas but a horrible long term strategy thats unsustainable.

That's true, but the same comics fan will also line up for a ticket opening weekend just so they can spend months throwing hissifits about the movie on the interwebz afterwards. Batman fans are probably the most autistic bunch in this regard.

the Nolan movies, the third specially and Joker already felt like that, like they just wanted to make another movie but had to include the Batman stuff somehow.

They are a meme now but even the Schumaher movies were hits at the box office, the bat credit card and bat nipple suit that traumatized Doug Walker and all,

This is why I really hate alternative timelines, it really screw things over and makes the product less special. How is Spiderman a unique character when anyone can possibly be him? Peter Parker is just a speck in the Spiderman possibilities rather than the ONE and ONLY.
If it wasn't for Miles Morales piggybacking off of the Spiderman name, no one would have cared about him.

On the other side of the coin, Rick and Morty is a show built on dimension crossing from the get-go and makes it clear that the titular characters are 1 in an infinite possibilities so you go in with that in mind.

Mortal Kombat has fallen victim to the Marvel version of the problem. I wish that they stop messing around with the timeline and focus on world-building in the one they've created in the Aftermath ending. Please, no more timeline rubbish!

I totally agree, and with the benefit of hindsight many other people now think this too. However when that movie first came out people swallowed it hook line and sinker, and then Rogue One coasted on that good will until The Last Jedi pulled one of the most violent public relations one-eighties in living memory.

You mean the one with Nicholas Cage? Yeah that was a fun movie but it predates the MCU idea by about a decade, and Blade is in the same boat but it was even earlier. I don't consider them Marvel movies since they're not part of the Disney MCU.

Even someone as jaded as Mike Stoklasa liked TFA when it came out, there's something about that movie that blinded people for about half a year. I thought it would've been because it was so long since the last SW movie, but it was only 10 years. Compare that to 16 years between RotJ and PM - which everyone hated on release.
 
It's because TFA was first Star Wars movie in 10 years and had been promoted from the start as a "new direction, no more shitty George Lucas Jar Jar garbage" which drove the hype and people thought because JJ Abrams was involved he'd make something pure Star Wars and even if it wasn't the best it would be fun. Everyone wanted to see the direction it would go in after the Prequels and miserable shit like the Clone Wars cartoon movie, it was as natural a hype machine could get.

Of course, that's been his thing since the 90s when he thought the best way to make money was shit out endless direct to video sequels to Disney movies and try and hype them up. That and his long term relationship with fucking over Disney parks to save a buck is why he's known as Bob Cheapek. He's probably somehow responsible for most of your bad Disney memories, hell his decisions are probably related to even shit like the kid who got munched on by a gator at Disneyworld.

On topic, I notice nobody ever seems to consoom much related to said direct to video sequels.

It was minimally competent, looked good, had oodles of fan service, and dangled something like four different mystery boxes in front of our noses.

Even a basic ass 3 bed 1 bath home out in the suburbs of LA seems to be like $800k. Does everyone just commute for 2 hours each way or something?

They either commute for several hours each way, or they live in a ghetto full of homeless people and gangbangers. Also with illegal immigrants specifically, you'll get cases of them cramming ten people into a single 1 bedroom flat.

Its a business strategy. Target mentally ill people who CONSOOM as a coping mechanism for their problems. Getting them to advertise also makes them seem part of something bigger which is a source of copium. It helps build a reliable consumer base that will always buy your product regardless of how dogshit or lazy it is. Stockholm syndrome with extra steps.

Ironically I use Dossier and their stuff is pretty good, but there are tons of cases where people are shilling rebranded junk from Chyna like Funkos. Defending their mountain of plastic is their hill to die on.
