Consoomers / Consoomer Culture - Because if it has a recogniseable brand on it, I’d buy it!

$100+ dollars for a fucking Nerf Gun. https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/191701

It doesn't have any realistic detail - it's made of the same generic green plastic and has the same orange safety tip you'd find on any other toy gun. But it's STAR WARS and the packaging has Temura Morrison's picture on it, so I guess that means it's worth three figures.

Holy fucking shit. Even the name-brand Nerf "top of the line" gun isn't that expensive!

As far as I can tell, it kind of is. If you watch a bunch of these (not just the lip gloss ones, but the other "small businesses" as well) you start seeing the same products over and over again.

These videos make me confused, and I'm kind of surprised at the audacity of these girls. None of this seems special, and those who sell lip plumpers. Those are proven to damage the lips, if used constantly over time. Same could be said about preservatives.
Point is, I'm waiting for an outbreak of something something caused of some skin care by these basic bitches.

No need to fear, technology is here!
Use the QR code stickers on each shelf to track things and you'll be able to search for items on your smartphone!
Ha! This technology is late and gay. My father was doing the same thing decades ago with a Dymo labeller.

There's a whole unspoken thing about how great HDTVs were from right before the smart TV era, like the ones from around 2007-2012. You'd usually get something like 2-3 HDMI outs, 2 component outs, 1-2 composite outs, RF out, and maybe even optical audio and VGA out. And of course, a whole slew of on-TV buttons to change the channel and control the volume, which isn't something to take for granted anymore. Even the problem with weak speakers on early HDTVs seemed to be more or less solved by this point.

Nobody ever talks about this era of TVs, but I swear, it's when HDTVs peaked. And I'm in a similar boat, I've got a nice 2008 Samsung TV that already has one dead HDMI port.
Last I checked, Sony TVs still have a good amount of inputs.

Funny you chose that specific word. Check out this one's username:

Betting money that some overweight faggot is going to use this for some shitty cosplay. Lol why the orange tip? No one is going to mistake it for a real gun lol

The worst part is that it automatically orders new toilet paper whenever the roll is empty. Now, the average TP is sold in packs with multiple rolls. So if this thing works as advertised, that means that it will automatically order a new pack of toilet paper every time you finish one roll - meaning you will soon find yourself swamped with TP packs by the time you're finished with the one you already have.
It must order packs of a certain size and keep count so it reorders on the last one. It'd have to, or just buy single rolls which I've never seen for sale except from Facebook marketplace scalpers in March 2020.

Reordering when the last one is done seems a bit late anyway, what are you supposed to do until the next pack arrives? Hold it?

Hose yourself off in the shower. It gets cleaner and is cheaper in the long run. Some do use a sponge on a stick with soapy water. The true cheapskate way.
Or you can just install a bidet.

I am in Year 12 this year and so many girls in my grade have "small buisnesses" where they sell stuff like jewelry, makeup and one even sells brass knuckles as part of her "self-defence keychains". All of them are also on TikTok and I don't get it.

What's up with Gen Z kids thinking they can become successful buisnessmen through the power of social media and overly flashy Tik Tok videos showing their "buisnesses"?

I mean... it’s basically what their mother/grandmas/aunts did with Avon, Herbalife, essential oils, but with a glossy aesthetic, “grind” mentality and younger girls.

I clearly read into things too much and I like to sperg (going trhu something irl so I kinda decompress here) but I don’t like how consumerism has started to permeate every single aspect of life starting from your early teens. You can’t have a harmless hobby because it will be transformed into an “opportunity”.

I think people these days have just been corrupted by the desire for internet fame where they try to turn everything online into a business opportunity. Especially anything which they can put a "grind" mentality to. Gen Z has grown up on the mentality of "consuming product" since we were all in primary school and people would wear Nikes and Adidas clothes on mufti days and sometimes the other girls would even wear makeup and we were about 10-12 years old too.

It's better than thinking they can become influencers who get rich for vlogging their boring lives. Starting a business at least takes some initiative, creativity, and good work ethic. It might encourage some kids who end up starting companies that create jobs some day or otherwise add value to the world.

Unfortunately it will encourage many more who add a few more tonnes of rubbish to the ocean for a couple of years and then quit.

That's true. I think I made it seem a bit negative in my previous posts. I just still don't understand it and the girls doing the TikTok small businesses are also very nice people.

I think it's as simple as they saw women who seemed happy, independent and successful and they wanted that for themselves, because who doesn't. Social media fame might play into it and probably does on some level, but social media marketing is almost mandatory for any small business these days, especially ones with next to nothing in their marketing budgets. Making your own ads on TikTok or Instagram is free.

Ben and Jerry’s ice cream would be a perfect example of a product purchased by consoomers due to it’s political standing that provides Zero Actual Benefit to it’s Customers.
It's ice cream you retard, you eat it, that's the benefit

True. Unlike all these girls, I want to be successful and independent (already happy) but I'm just too lazy to even work for it. I don't even care about school as much as I should be academically.

That's going to catch up with you pretty quickly, maybe you should watch more small business TikToks for motivation.
