I'm an adult so I have only heard of this kid before twice. Both by video recommendations and the news reporting the kid was a multimillionaire by reviewing toys. It's crazy how popular and successful someone can become reviewing a product. Like it makes me angry I'm barely able to rub two pennies together so I'm openly jealous, but I won't deny I didn't think of doing something similar where I could be popular enough that I'd get paid to play video games or review movies.
Today it's normal to see people who are nostalgic for commercials and advertisements found in magazines. When I was growing up it was what decade you grew up in. So if you're a baby boomer you'd be a fan of Elvis, while those in the 80's would be Kiss fans. The difference is parents were up in arms about junk being marketed to kids. As such McDonalds toys being seen as a means for fast food restaurants to sell junk food to kids. Don't forget about candy cigarettes preparing kids to smoke real cigarettes.
I'm middle class and worked hard to get where I am. I'm genuinely happy that my parents reduced my television time to two hours as a preteen. They of course fucked up when the internet came around lol If or when I have kids I refuse to let them sit all day on electronics during their development period. I think it's what lead to peak consumerism. Growing up like that seems to cause a lack of motivation as an adult that is too late to teach.
