Consoomers / Consoomer Culture - Because if it has a recogniseable brand on it, I’d buy it!

Physical media is great. Digital libraries keep getting yoinked.
Shame more and more of it is getting tied to "always online/phone home check-in" bullshit (like the new Assassin's Creed garbage -- it won't run unless it can ask Ubisoft for permission to run, at least on PS5 and Xbox).

I absolutely consoom BNPL. If it's 0 APR for 1-2 years, I take the cash I would've used and throw it in a high yield savings account. Interest earnings and inflation over this time gives you a nice discount. If you're worried about overconsumption or missing payments, save up for the item first. You'll know if you really want or need it and you won't have to worry about suddenly losing income to pay for it. This is how I've learned to use debt.

Nintendo is raping their soy-fueled customer base again, and here's why that's a good thing!

Nintendo loves you! Mario is real, and he's also your best friend! Better consoom whatever they tell you to, no matter the price, they need to know you love them back! Buy two of everything!

After complaining about the prices, Nintendo fans are in a race to pre-order the Switch 2 and complain they can't do it fast enough. Guess we're going to be stuck with the high prices for the foreseeable future, glad I have a nice big backlog.

I have a nice big black log too. At least that's what your mom said when she was "pre ordering" my Switch last night.

in 1997 Age of Empires was $49.95, with basic inflation that should now cost about $95

so if anything its a deal
Has this argument ever worked ... like, for anything?

Like, hey, that's neat it was $49.95 back in the day. But I don't want to pay $95 for it now.

I've also used BNPL, it just breaks the price of something up into 4 payments. I don't go for anything with a fee or interest, and honestly I just assumed this was how credit cards worked to begin with.

That Mario picture is AI isn't it? A real bugman hates AI and would never.
Are you kidding me? AI is a bugman's dream come true- content to consume on demand, endless, worthless, without vision and without merit, slurp it up and generate some more before your brain gets bored and kills itself of atrophy

Well, what the credit card issuers want you to do is rack up a huge debt and only make the minimum payments and pay interest on interest. BNPLs at the very least set a start and end date with every loan you take out with them. They are typically at a lower rate than what traditional cards give you. Ideally you want 0 APR which is possible if your credit record is good.

I get that the Yen is weak and Nintendo wants to get some more money out of a larger economy but this ain't it man.

In public they cry about how bad it is.

Those are different people, and when they do happen to intersect, just look for a moment longer and you'll see their statements are just performative, they play around with AI, make it write for them, listen to AI generated 'music' and consume the memes, they just heard their favorite artist express that it's bad but they didn't comprehend how or why, just that THAT'S what they're SUPPOSED to think, so they'll loudly parrot it and continue to not understand what they're saying

I just discovered this youtuber called Kwebbelkop. I never heard of him but apparently he's been around as long as Pewdiepie and I see him as a Dutch Pewdiepie. There was some recent drama about how he's getting burnout and wants to replace his content with an AI version of himself who will do the content for him while he collects the checks.
That's not to say he made good content before AI, I can't stand his sense of humor. Not even his fans like his AI videos. He's not even hurting for money so if he doesn't enjoy making the content, then what's the point? I think that's what irritates me about this AI shit, it's shitting up the Internet and I'm convinced more than half of it is some retarded get-rich-quick schemes.
