I hate everything about this. I hate tiktok in general, but the fact that the company ads are so insidious and the products are so stupid just adds to the list of the 1001 reasons I will never download that stupid app. And also I now realize why my dumb friends have been talking more about consoomer products. Because tiktok is just ads and stupid people.

Especially the further North you go and the less you see of towns - most which have cardlock stations because of gas theft and no cell service. If you get stuck or trapped, you're on your own so best to keep your car stocked with gas and blankets. Also a gun for bears. And natives.

Absolutely. If you actually have money and can afford genuinely good quality in everything that you consume, you don't need to flash it like this. Rich people are ostentatious too, but generally in a more subdued way: they know they will be noticed by people of the same economic status as them, without wearing logos. A good tailored suit or really good dress shoes are easily recognizable despite not being branded. Actually posh people (e.g. If you check the instagram accounts of the granddaughters of the Queen of England, or other young European royals) don't need to wear such flashy, ugly shit (what are those ugly driving mittens this Sophie Sohet wears even when shopping? What?).

Rich people know other rich consoomers will recognize more subdued luxury expenses and are aware that being too flashy is just tacky and 'nouveau-riche'. Don't get me wrong, I think anyone that has fashion as an active hobby is generally wasting money, and rich consumerism is still consumerism, but this thing that people like this Sophie woman do with covering themselves in expensive logos (that they are really buying on sale...) is just pure insanity. She must be deeply unhappy with herself for her life satisfaction to derive from spending like this.

Also LOL at one of the vids that you guys posted in which she justifies her love for spending, she says something like "I know it seems materialistic, but we live in the world we live in and money is important even if you want to pretend otherwise". No shit, money is important. That's why you shouldn't waste it in ostentatious, useless shit. I find it fascinating in a way because there's no demand for the crap he finds at Poundland, yet it exists. The Lootcrate boxes were blatantly cheap shit with a Marvel logo on it that sometimes ended up in dollar stores because they had to move their stock, yet Lootcrate went on for years. In this endless screeching world about how we need to be more environmentally friendly, companies will still churn out cheap plastic garbage that ends up going back to their warehouse to be liquidized, and they still have the gall to turn around and blame the public for global emissions and pollution. I believe in free markets and capitalism, and I don't think anyone should be buying pompom chicks for $1 at Dollar Tree, but it is interesting to me to see it in the first place because surely they cannot be making their money back on this. So why make it in the first place? It's all going to be in a landfill at the end of the day regardless, but maybe if they didn't produce the crap to begin with, those pompoms will be used somewhere else or not at all. But here we are, with companies and people trying to squeeze every penny out of you at any chance they can get and making pompom chicks in the slight chance you'll give in to get it as a "Decoration".

Advent calendars used to be crap chocolate for $1. Now even Chanel is doing them. Le Creuset just came out with a Harry Potter dishware set. Cashiers at gas stations are surrounded by impulse crap items and masks, trying to convince you that hey, maybe with that $30 fillup, you should buy a lighter and mask with the Batman logo on it.

So much if going to be thrown out at the end of the day, so I respect Ashens for making money off showcasing this crap and why you shouldn't buy it. But yeah. It's all bottom of the barrel and clogging up the earth.

In a way, I miss the Lootcraze because I liked Ashens' opening videos on them. He would make fun of them and praise the one good item every blue moon. It was refreshing and different.

Outdoor products are some of the most unnecessarily consoomer things on the market. As a general rule the stuff you'll buy for the outdoors will last a lot longer than most consumer goods, and don't need to be replaced often. I know old timers who still hunt every year with a rifle they bought when they were in their teens in the 1960s.
Recently though, lots of "influencers" online like to talk about how the latest model of such and such is infinitely better than the last one, and you'll never kill a deer/bird/whatever without the latest thing. I've had hunting buddies my age get rid of their $1500 shotgun for a $2800 shotgun as if the cheaper one wasn't good enough for their occasional trip to the duck pond. Lots of people kill more ducks than these guys with a $200 used pump action. I believe the industry wants to make hunting guns like cars, and make it "uncool" to own the cheaper/older ones.

Worse than the hunting side is the fishing side, specifically fly fishing. Fly fishing is a specific technique of fishing that's pretty autistic and loves to gatekeep. A lot of the serious fly fishermen look down on people who actually eat the fish that they catch, and some even get mad if you take the fish out of the water to unhook it. Fishing gear manufacturers have realized that these people will buy whatever dumb shit they make so you end up with companies like Abel, who will sell you a nice reel for $450 but want another $800 to put a specific paint job on it. Anybody who drops the money on these things will flaunt them constantly on instagram and reddit, even though they've just dropped as much as a small boat on a flashy reel. These reels are still functional so it's hard to consider them a purely consoomer item like a funko pop, but it's still pretty embarrassing to see fishing devolve to this sort of thing
