Well in my defense I can't say I've read everything on Connor because, and let's get real here, there's a lot there and he's just not interesting enough to pay a huge amount of attention to.

Besides, who's to say that he's exaggerating about his parents being okay. Maybe that's the lie. I think what we can all on agree on here is that Connor is a fucked up individual who needs to get his shit together.

That's understandable to not know or remember everything. I remembered it because it stood out to me. And it's true we don't know what's fact and what's fiction. What we do know is that that one of those is a lie. And Connor lies all the time here in this thread. Promises to create a resume and write for an hour that never pan out. Promises to look into volunteer work and exercise that don't go anywhere. Sometimes I think what gets Connor pissed off is when people remember his latest lies and ask for the results.

I do believe there's a strong likelyhood that Connor was psychologically or emotionally abused, and while claims of abuse are common among lolcows, and the claims from him are likely exaggerated, the type of behavior such as claiming that you're going to leave and not having the motivation to stay away, self-pity, and attention whoring for sympathy are common among people who have suffered abuse and are untreated.

For people who have suffered abuse, and suffer from PTSD from childhood trauma, their cognitive map for interacting with people and often they act emotionally fragile, so people won't abandon them, however often times it can make people emotionally burned out and frustrated from dealing with them, which causes abandonment among "friends" , and add the fears of abandonment become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Actually, I was in a bad way mentally at the time of my second suicide attempt, in addition to being drugged.

I thought Power of Attorney was only applicable for health care decisions and only came into effect in the event that the person wasn't able to make health care decisions such as being in a coma. It doesn't allow people, including the people who act as your power of attorney to violate your day to day rights. How are your parents using the fact that they're your POA to prevent you from getting a job? Are they telling you that "If you get a part time job, then if you ever end up brain dead I'm going to make sure they keep you on life support?"

PoA is a status that can mean whatever the individual wants it to mean, it doesn't have to be medical. In fact, at the end of life, it's very common for someone to appoint a PoA over their legal and financial affairs, and a completely seperate PoA over their medical affairs. The idea being to trust the decision to the person best able to handle them.

PoA is essentially just giving someone the legal right to make decisions for you, as if they actually were you. You can assign someone PoA to, for example, sell your car or house if you don't want to bother with the paperwork. When you appoint them PoA, you are able to specify what area of your life they can influence, and for what length of time.

Disclaimer: IANAL. But I've been down that road.

If Connor's appointed someone PoA, and that prevents him from having a job, it's only because that was his intention from the start.

While this is true, I don't think it's true for Connor. I'd like to think that after hundreds of pages of people trying to sympathize, exposing their powerlevels, recounting their own stories of abuse & struggles with mental illness, a true abuse victim would be a little more humbled in the face of all that.

But Connor pretty much ignored all of that.
