It would help if we knew precisely what kind of math Connor was taking. But he never tells us, I've asked several times what his maths classes (including past ones) entailed and never received a response.

@Connor Bible are you embarrassed ?
Considering he calls it algebra (as opposed to pre-algebra, geometry, or pre-calc), he's probably in the college equivalent of algebra 1 or algebra 2, probably 2 since he took an algebra course already and passed it (I believe.)

There's usually a college algebra course for tards, that is to say, liberal arts majors. It's basically dumber than high school math.

Not necessarily. I've had some experience in similar 'preperation classes' and most of the students where middle-aged moms who haven't thought of algebra since middle school, the elderly and immigrants who never had any real opportunity to learn it in the first place.

Not to say there wasn't a decent amount of borderline high school dropouts who spent an entire semester stuck on their times tables by virtue of making literally zero effort.

That's funny because our intro math course you had to take a prep exam for it and get at least 80% just to take the course. You could opt out if math wasn't in your field and take a philosophy course instead. Needless to say a lot of first year students took philosophy.

I can't make this shit up but a friend of mine went to some career college where they had to learn "business math". This was the actual term for the course and it was literally just fractions, percentages and really stupid questions that I think we did in third or fourth grade. I'm not kidding when I say this was one of the questions.

"A jar of pickles costs $0.75 cents. There are 15 pickles in the jar. How much does each pickle cost?"

That's not the worst part. There were people that actually failed that course. Needless to say I don't think it was a quality college.

Hey now, even us derpy liberal arts majors had to take advanced statistics. But then again, my university also pushed research really hard. I found out the hard way that despite coming from a family of researchers, I couldn't even make my own qualitative studies. *sigh*

Back on topic, I'm kinda surprised that Connor bailed so soon. I was expecting at least another few posts of whinging before telling us to go fucky ourselves.

EDIT: Actually, that's got me thinking---what's the education level of Connor's family? He's had to have mentioned in some WrongPlanet posts given how much he's complained about his parents. If they aren't college-educated themselves, chances are they may not put a whole lot of pressure on him getting an education, which is why he's free to take one class at a time. My parents both came from poor, hard-working blue collar families, & their parents discouraged their academic pursuits, as time spent going to school was time better spent making an honest living. On the flip side, since my parents went to college anyway, they'd pretty much already decided what universities my siblings & I were going to before we were in high school, & were always extremely strict about grades.

Or it could be Connor's parents are college-educated, but they've dismissed their only son as a 'tard & have considerably lowered their expectations of him. Which would be tragic if that was the case.

I'd never knock anyone who struggles with math since it's not everyone's strong suit, but when it's your ONLY CLASS, there's no excuse for struggling as much as Connor claims he does.

I'm just guessing on this, but I think his mother doesn't have a degree but his dad might. This is based off the work histories he's misquoted over the years. Based on what he's said on WrongPlanet I don't know if he knows what his dad does, because he claims he works as both a handyman and an EMT, but there's a chance unless he just drives an ambulance he has some kind of higher education.

His half-brother's an army veteran who was working towards becoming a lawyer, and Connor has lamented that his parents compare him to his more successful sibling.

Connor's dad has a painting and decorating business that looks to be reasonably successful. Whether or not he also works as a community first responder or something, I'm not sure.

I laughed so hard it gave me a headache. Awesome, awesome work @BOLDYSPICY!
That's what you get for turning me straight with your voice. But thank you.

I vaguely remember him saying that his dad was an EMT, but all I remember him saying about his mom was that she was a pill-popping, perpetually-drunk & mentally unstable hypochondriac. Although, you only need a high school education to be an EMT (as well as certification). & didn't he say his dad was a volunteer EMT? I can't remember.

Speaking of not remembering, I completely forgot about the half-brother. I guess they just hold Connor to a much lower standard after all.

Also, from the Arts & Literature thread:
Since it was close to November, I needed to ask. Anyone willing this year?
I know who isn't. :reality:

Sounds like his parents actually call him out on his shit. My guess is that he makes the autistic assumption that alcohol consumption = alcoholism.
Of course they call him out on his shit because he needs it. HFA/Aspergers or not you can't just leave these people to do whatever the fuck they want because they will literally stay in their room all day, playing with video games and themselves just hopefully not at the same time. Although to be fair while I don't know his parents and I don't know how accurate his words are if somebody pulls a gun on you or smacks you around because they've had a couple drinks then maybe they're not that nice to begin with. Just sayin'.

And I know it's been said before but Connor is just lazy. He doesn't have basic living skills or money management because he never bothered to learn them. And today there's no excuse for not learning a new skill when you have the wealth of information on the internet. You can learn a new language if you wanted but he doesn't want to. Oh he might say he wants to but that requires effort and we all know what kind of effort he puts into things.

No, Connor is right now at a stage in his life that he really needs to get his shit together. When his Grandmother passes on, who's he going to live with? I don't know of anybody in his family, based on what he's said, that is willing to put up with his shit. So my suggestion to him is to learn and start making himself useful.

Connor has lied not just about his parents but in general. I know somewhere among these 500 pages there is (or was) a screencap where Connor admits he's exaggerated what he says about his parents (assuming he didn't just flat-out admit it here in the thread). @Smutley do you know what I'm talking about and have the screencap on hand?

I do, and I do <3

Here's the post in question, where Connor admits his parents did no more than act like parents.

Contrast that with this post where he says that "I've got a family history that could make Chris Titus blush"

Or with this one where he blames his mother for everything.

The world in which I live...

...is a world of sh*t.

Everyone around me is retarded, a scumbag, or a psycho, and I'm expected to do my part and suck their d*cks. Well, let me tell you assholes something: I'm not sucking any cock. I'm mad as hell, and I wish you bastards would f*****g burn.

Engrave this quote on my fucking tombstone, asterisks and all. Holy shit.

Well in my defense I can't say I've read everything on Connor because, and let's get real here, there's a lot there and he's just not interesting enough to pay a huge amount of attention to.

Besides, who's to say that he's exaggerating about his parents being okay. Maybe that's the lie. I think what we can all on agree on here is that Connor is a fucked up individual who needs to get his shit together.
