Given how real life doesn't exactly complete itself in one instant, Connor is gonna be beyond screwed if he ever loses the financial backing of his family.
What will happen when Connor's parents die?

As Connor appears less capable of taking care of himself than Chris, I don't want to think about it as it's actually rather depressing.

These are on my cluttered shelves:
  • Making Shapely Fiction, Jerome Stern. This one lists some of the gimmicks that automatically make a story bad, so you can read that bit, laugh at Stern's humorous style, and be enlightened.
  • Anything on writing by John Gardner. He wrote a novel retelling the Beowulf story from Grendel's POV. Since you've been interested in monsters in the past, and Gardner enjoyed dealing with major mythic themes, it seems like On Writing and other books he wrote (he taught writing, so the books come from that experience) might be helpful.
  • Writing Down the Bones and its sequels by Natalie Goldberg. She is a Buddhist, so some of her writing exercises use meditation and mindfulness techniques, but since she's coming from such a different viewpoint to your own, she could really shake things up for you. One of her exercises in that particular book involves letting a Hershey's Kiss melt on your tongue, so that can't be bad, right?
  • The Artist's Way and related books by Julia Cameron. This is technically a workbook, but you don't have to use it like that. Just reading around in it at random pages might be very inspiring.
I mean, if you ask your parents for books... I can't honestly see them refusing, unless they're far bigger dicks than you describe. If they want my credentials, PM me and I can loosely describe where I am and how I got there.

Oh my, who left this large and well-organized zipfile full of writing guides just lying around the internet where anyone could upload it?

(In before Connor says "Nice try, Knife; I know it's full of viruses and/or porn.")

ETA: Of course, knowing me, it could very well be full of porn....

Hey guys. The router at my house died, so I have been without Internet access over there for the past couple of days. However, I did get just a tiny bit of writing done. It wasn't ten pages, but it was something.

The Heat Death of the universe could happen in about a googol years.* Here's an easy goal Connor could meet: finish Redesigning Eva sometime before then.

*(around the year 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 AD.)

Honey, my hard drive is missing all, I repeat, ALL of my HD Transsexual My Little Pony porn :surprised:. Did you have something to do with that? Have you seen it? It was about a terabite.

So...about 6 or 7 words then? Congrats!

For someone who is betting on writing to support him in the future, you sure don't get shit done. Yeah, I know I'm beating a dead horse, but this wouldn't be a problem if you didn't powerlevel all over the Farms.

Don't get me wrong, I'm supporting you Connor, but do work my friend. A story ain't going to write itself.

Wouldn't not having the internet make writing easier? It would have been a good time to take advantage of the lack of distraction.

I was working on the first chapter of RE's second draft. Unfortunately, it's on my tablet.
Why do you jump around so much? I'd recommend focusing your energy on a single project.
