Video Game Autism News: yesterday, the full sourcecode and all assets of 2001's Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty were anonymously leaked on 4chan, sourced from Armature Studios' work on the PS Vita port.
Metal Gear Network's statement:
It’s not just the HD versions in the dump, it’s the full source code for the PS2 / Xbox / PC versions, everything up to Vita. The original E3 trailer script files are here. The cut Tanker water-escape sequence. 9/11 censored scripting. Internal file editors & tooling, etc.
At a brief glance, Arsenal Gear -> Manhattan crash stuff was censored by simply commenting out code. Likewise, there’s E3 / Demo assets. HD version was definitely made from OG source, not 100% reverse engineered as people misinterpret from old Bluepoint Games interviews.
Modders are still digging through everything, but the implications are massive. This could mean restoring cut content, uncovering unseen material, and gaining a much deeper understanding of how the game was built.
This is especially intriguing, as the game's climax (set in New York) underwent significant last-minute censorship in the wake of 9/11, and this leak includes several gigantic peeks into it that may lead to reconstruction.
Beyond that, it is also a huge step in extra preservation, with people already working on recompiling it (which is relevant with the latest version available on Steam having several known bugs and glitches that the fans have had to fix themselves).
What makes this leak notable is that it was coded by a fellow named Miles Taylor, a man who oversaw the Department of Homeland Security during President Trump's first term while leaking like a sieve to the press (he famously documented this in his book I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration). Taylor would later leverage this experience to become a security researcher for Google.

On Twitter, Mama Kpointed out that whatever Nick is carrying out of the vape shop looks a lot like some of the nitrous canisters she saw. If you lookg closely you can see that that Nick's holding has a cap and strap handle just like those cans on the right in Mama K's video.

Two people have died and several were injured after a car drove into a crowd in the eastern German city of Leipzig on Monday afternoon, local authorities said.
