I'd be curious to know which scenes you're referring to or what sort of exposition you wanted. Honest inquiry, as I felt his stories flowed very well and conveyed everything they needed to.
"I disagree. I don’t know about Foriegn Agent cuz I didn’t buy it, but Earthbound got pretty annoying awfully quick with it’s jolting scene transitions and disjointed story telling." - Trunksdragonball
Trunks summed it up well enough.
Is that really the final artwork, and not just work in progress shots? I like Narwhal's art, but what the fuck happened between this.
And this!?
He got even more lazy and complacent.
We don't know yet. Looks like he's trying to do something different for this particular story.
But if you've read his prior books, you know what he's capable of. Looking at each individual drawing and complaining is like having your nose pressed against a Monet painting.
If you are interested, wait for the finished piece of work, read it, and then make a judgment.
Excuses, excuses. What pretentious bullshit.
Looking at each individual drawing is an integral part of the comic reading experience. If one panel in ten looks like dog shit it's jarring and takes the reader out of the intended flow.
If ten out of ten look like dog shit no flow is established because the experience is devoid of compelling reasons to turn the page. This isn't Wizard of Id where the point is the gag on the third panel and the ugly art is unimportant.
I didn't mind Narwhal's style when I bought Earthbound because I was giving an obvious amateur a chance and I thought I'd support the spark of real talent I saw.
Then I read it, and despite there being a spark of something, I realized that the crude nature of the drawings wasn't so much from a lack of skill building as it was laziness and a 'don't give a fuck' attitude that he was 'good enough' that he didn't need to finish a drawing.
I was done after the disjointed mess of Earthbound and his
regression progression to 499 shows I made the right choice.
It isn't "artistic" when every panel just looks lazy. Then it's just bad.
I still don't really know why Tim and Nerkish left that book. But either way, I don't think Ethan every said "YOU MUST LEAVE CG FOR MAKING TRUMP BOOKS" I just think he and Tim butted heads a little, so Tim left.
Maybe the word WarCampaign will ring a bell. Did WC come after you when you were excommunicated? Or did Caesar give you a reprieve?
There's nothing wrong with that. Trump doesn't have to be on everything--he doesn't have to be the focus of our comics, especially when CG started because we were fed up with politics being shoved down our throats.
At the same time though I don't care if somebody makes a Trump book. I bought all of Tim's Trump books and they were funny. But there's nothing wrong with Ethan saying "Let's do something other than parodies."
Trump wasn't on everything in CG. He was in Tim Lim's comics and Ethan said Trump comics weren't CG and then PRETENDED he didn't know they were Tim's.
Passive aggressive attacks are still attacks.
Well yeah, don't go lecturing your customers.
There's one thing everybody needs to keep in mind: IF IT'S BAD FOR BUSINESS DON'T DO IT.
Was it good for Mike's business for Ethan to dig up a days old tweet
no one gave a shit about and blow it up publicly to scold him and to seriously hurt his bottom line? Was he helping Mike?
You're an idiot Nasser.
(I didn't give a shit about Tim Lim.)
IIRC Tim Lim called bullshit on one of your passive aggressive shit takes in one of your streams and backed it up embarrassing you in front of your friends.
After that he was booted out of the tree house and "Political comics aren't ComicsGate" became a ComicsGate mantra.
