that's 100% the case with me.

I left, I was wrong, I failed. I had it so good with comicsgate and threw it away.

I know it'll take a lot to mend bridges, but I will do whatever I can.

How to put it delicately? You always failed. Or rather, your writing always needed a lot more work and practise right from the start. But with Stardust you lucked into the initial wave of excitement for comicsgate crowdfunding campaigns. You will probably make more money again if you go back into comicsgate, but I don't fully equate that with success. I have my doubts that you'll be put through your paces as a writer and forced to improve if you're subsidised by 'comicsgate welfare'. When it all goes away again, where will you be?

Reignbow Brute will sell as long as people can insert your story into his. I was still a fan of yours when you first came up with that and I thought it was hilarious.

Reignbow Brute was a deviantart-level joke that stopped eliciting a chuckle by the third time you heard it. The average comicsgater will probably lap up a whole comic of it like it was cream.

Whats there to nuke? His run ended some time ago now and nobody cares, Batman works just as fine as he did before his run.

back before 'chron nuked itself, it was evident that a segment of Batman's readership weren't buying the title. Maybe ten percent at most. It was disheartening to some who like Tynion's run.

Having read allot of the earlier issues, I can say it was better than Tom King's run at any of its points. Not good enough to wash the bad taste out of my mouth and from what I understand, it's keeping continuity with the Kingshit. Of course if your like me and you weren't thrilled with Scott Snyder's SJW characters, it doesn't matter. They brought back Harper Row, cringe brother in tow, for the Punchline spinoff.

Make of that what you will.

HI!!! #COMICSGATE

I was raised in the farmland and love corn.

Figured it was time to join since I have been told that 10+ people are me. If you have any questions just let me know.

oh @Mister Dongs I hope you are having a lovely morning/day, and if there is anything you need. Just let me know! #ORANGEDRAGON

With money to pay his rent. Money is money and if it wasn't on him it'd be on some grifter like Liam or WC.

I actually think the story of a father and his son could be good. Depends where Ethan takes it.

Wasn't Snyder's run before SJW shit got big?

If you have time to tease an update, you have time to post an update. He's stalling until he can come up with his latest excuse. Is there anyone who even gives a shit about Lobo Light anymore?

Hey @NasserRabadi13, have you gotten your measly $900 from this prick yet?

This shit's starting to remind me of how the original Image imploded.

Short answer is your mileage varies. The SJW elements are there, but not pervasive until after most people stopped caring.

If you buy the CG standard line, it all appeared out of nowhere in 2017. I can tell you, it was there in Nu52 and DCYou was them copying SJW Marvel. Snyder's run covers both and veers into it periodically.

DC started bringing Vertigo writers over to work on the cape titles shortly prior to Flashpoint. Snyder was one of them. Vertigo was a breeding ground for SJWs and adjacents. Him, Jeff Lemire, and some others. Snyder was given the Batman flagship after writing one solid, decompressed story in 'Tec. The warning signs were all there. Court of Owls doesn't have it, but then there's the first Annual. He introduced Harper Row and retconned Mr. Freeze's origin. Harper is a walking cringe factory. She's super good at the engineering/science and loves batman because he stopped cartoon school bullies from killing her cartoon gay brother (this is literally the plot of her origin story I shit you not). Mr. Freeze is no longer really in love with his wife, he's just crazy guy who freezes people.

It got worse. Snyder created Duke Thomas who becomes black Tim Drake without any of the actual character development or stories that made people like him. Then Snyder and Tynion took an event that was supposed to be a celebration of Robin as a character and made it about Harper Row. To wit, she's the perfect Robin, but doesn't want to be one.

Yep.
Hmm that doesn't really seem SJWy to me and the retcon to Freeze's character comes off as more edgelordy then anything.

But eh as you say mileage may vary.

Speaking of DC I took a look through their digital first titles and noticed they are selling them for only 99 cents a "book".

Why the fuck can't they do this with their print titles? Is taking this shit to a printer that expensive? If DC and Marvel slashed prices and trimmed their output down they probably wouldn't be in a tail spin now.

Aren't their digital first comics shorter than print ones?

As for SJW thing, I'm not sure if I'd agree about Snyder being one, I never actually read his Batman stuff outside of couple of issues, but I got the impression that he just wanted to insert his own pet characters. And you know, they have to be super kewl or nobody will use them after he leaves. But as a broader point I agree that SJW in comics didn't magically materialise in 2017, many of the writers that are responsible for this have been writing at least since mid 2000s. Just back then they weren't as overt.

Well, give a man a fish, so to speak. Also, I was under the impression Nasser had a day job for that.

....Do people seriously still think CG will replace the mainstream comics industry?

This is what I mean. For all the talk of 'making comics that customers want to buy' - a statement with it's own problems and contradictions The intent to artificially prop up Smiller's book that apparently no-one wants to buy, for one thing - comicsgate in it's various incarnations is still inherently a movement or marketing strategy based on an angry reaction to something else. As much or more "this is what those people do" as "this is what we offer". I heard something recently about how that kind of business doesn't last too long, though don't ask me where. A little future-proofing in one form or another might be prudent.

I think Frog will be okay, he's got his fanbase in place. His fanbase, though, not Cyberfrog's. I wonder about the capos and soldiers further down the chain.

This shit's starting to remind me of how the original Image imploded.

Way ahead of you. ;)

By 6 pages, don't know how that justifies a 3$ price hike.

Yeah comics like other entertainment mediums has always had a Leftist bent.

There was no marxist takeover of comics the same guys who were writing before wokeness became trendy are still there.

I think it's just the general trend of politics becoming more tribalistic and toxic in the 2010s affecting the medium.

If it was wokeshit causing comics to decline it would be hurting every entertainment medium but it isn't. That tells me there's more to this.

Exactly. Guys like Snyder were smart enough to keep it slow and slip it into stories about other characters. Harper Row and Duke were the two that glare at me. But I also just wasn't thrilled with Snyder's run. Lots of decompression.

I'm not one of those people that hates legacy characters. Cassandra Cain and Stephanie Brown were both better Batgirls than Barbara Gordon has been and I would love for Wally West's daughter to have been the next Flash. Jessica Cruz was a bright spot in the otherwise terrible Darkseid War. Jamie Reyes is a true successor to Ted Kord.

But that's not what's happened or is happening.

No digital comic is worth four dollars if its ten pages or twenty, nothing physical is being produced.

Somewhat. There was a left lean. But it previously allowed some diversity of opinion. Some creative difference. It's gotten bad. This threads first five hundred pages before amphibian Alogging and drama spreading documented that.

Some of them. Chuck Dixon's not, Bill Willingham isn't, Mike Baron isn't. The leaches, the parasites, the less than talented are clinging on like Gail Simone and Bendis. But comics has long had a problem, it's just gotten to a critical mass in a shrinking industry.
I think it's just the general trend of politics becoming more tribalistic and toxic in the 2010s affecting the medium.
That and Disney owning Marvel, insulating them from market realities. If Marvel goes I'd struggle to define American sequential art as an industry. too few people would earn their livelihood from it.
If it was wokeshit causing comics to decline it would be hurting every entertainment medium but it isn't.
I think Birds of Prey, Terminator Dark Fate, and STD all disagree. Other mediums are healthier and lack competition.
That tells me there's more to this.
There is. But as I frequently remind people, it's not an either or.

The mainstream industry will never be replaced, especially while they own Spider-Man and Batman and so on, but I do think there's some room to grow in the self-publishing model, and for the current mindset of "I buy new comics from the comic store" to become "I buy new comics directly from the creators online." Whether you call that ComicsGate or not is up to you. We're already starting to see some people who would never allow themselves to be labeled with an alt-right racist homophobic etc. etc. hate group term like that, like Aubrey Sitterson, start up their own campaigns and they're deluding themselves if they think watching Frog and Zack be successful at it first has nothing to do with it. Frog can speak for himself, but I'm wiling to bet that Zack, at least, would be more than happy to put ideological differences aside and help a fellow creator be successful if Aubrey humbled himself enough to come to him asking for tips on the crowdfund model (I bet a lot of them breaking into it the first time are going to have to make the same mistakes early CGers did if they don't make an effort to learn from them first).

Being 21-23 and needing to improve your writing is nothing new. That's definitely not failing. Most people aren't that good in their early 20s.

Comics were just as woke in the 60s and 70s when Progressiveness was trendy then * Wonder Woman had a very brief GRRRL PWR run where she became a Charlies Angels expy,Lois Lane magically became a black woman to "understand the struggle",Green Arrow's comic became a social commentary and Power Girl's 70s run was so terrible DC had to retcon it twice * and 90s comics ran on what were then mainstream Left politics * 2099 was essentially a giant middle finger to Mega Corps, Senator Kelly was a caricature of Conservative politicians and mid to late 90s comics were tailor made to piss off Conservative moral puritans. *

Everyone who wrote the comics I enjoyed as a kid are either still working or retired but still regurgitating Left Wing views on Twitter.

Marvel nearly died in the mid 90s when their catering to the spectator bubble and outsourcing to Image bit them in the ass they've been primarily a toy/merchandising company ever since Avi and Ike bought them out and DC's been owned by Time Warner since the 70s.

The film industry much like comics is struggling with shifting market trends and even then streaming is continuing to expand. And video games which are just as woke are booming despite the occasional bomb.

Looks like my previous post about Mike S Miller's Lonestar 3 launch stream got a lot of people talking. First was a shout out from Mecha McCheese who offered his thoughts on the whole situation. In the video Mecha praises @FROG for investing the money he has raised back into Comicsgate by producing toys and improving value for his backers. Mecha hopes that Comicsgate can learn forgiveness and help each other as the mainstream continues to die and believes everyone deserves a chance at redemption.

The second video in the same day was from @NasserRabadi13 who read my post to his viewers and offered his opinions and insights. Mike S Miller was present in the chat however refused to come on the stream as it was the sabbath and wanted a day off. Nasser eventually puts the streamyards link in the chat and was joined by Fake Liam who previously appeared on the Lonestar 3 launch stream. Fake Liam informs the audience that the real Liam Gray had posted a comment on Mike's video threatening Mike with a strike over the parody. After a quick investigation the comment appears to have been deleted but not before Mike posted it to twitter.

Nasser then went to do a stream with @FROG and the two of them again read the post with Jon Malin and Adam Post present. Of particular interest was the table of data comparing Graveyard Shift and Lonestar. The stream has since been taken down, however Oz Art's was stream sniping at the time. [timestamp in embed]

Also welcome to the Farms @TESTEFY-HD we hope you enjoy your stay. If there's anything you need don't hesitate to ask @Mister Dongs

Yesterday was good for continuing to heal the rifts in ComicsGate.

Although I wish things could be as they were, I'm not sure that's a possibility. But maybe something better will happen instead.

I've forgiven Mike, and apologized to Mike, and I'm just going to move forward without the negative feelings towards him. A lot of my subscribers expressed disgust at the idea of ever having to look at Mike's face again, and asked that he never be allowed back on my channel. Here's a message I got in my comments that sums up the general mood:

EVS,

I am not even sure why I bother to type stuff like this out as you have never listened, so I am doubtful it'll sink in now. Forgiving Smiller The Smug and Nasser The Sociopath is one thing. You do that for your own peace of mind, to avoid the Soul Cancer they have, and because of your beliefs; I understand and admire that. However, that is not the same thing as allowing these Scorpions in skin suits back into your circle. You are a fool if you do and you are going to reap the just rewards of this extremely bad decision very, very quickly.

Your heart is too big, and your vision to narrow, to see these "people" for what they are. They are SJW's of a different stripe. You would not allow SJW's into your circle, but you will allow people that have, TIME AND TIME AGAIN slandered, libeled, personally attacked and insulted you. They are Donnie Cates with a different coat of paint. They have betrayed you at every turn and in every way. Worst of all, they attacked your family to boot! I do not, for the life of me, understand how you equate forgiving these Ankles with allowing them back into your life on any level. I simply do not get it.

You are far, far too old and intelligent to be this naive to fall for this for this blatant ploy. They want back on your coat tails, period. I will never support anything they touch; we both know damn well I am not alone on this. Just like with Mitch, THEY BETRAYED THE CUSTOMERS/FANS TOO. And you are going to welcome them back with open arms because you believe that will heal all wounds? You cannot, simply CANNOT be this naive. I refuse to believe that.

You talk down about how dumb you are all_the_time, but you know you are not. You are no dummy. You just have far too big a heart for your own good. These Ankles attacked your business, your IP, your reputation, your honor, and YOUR FAMILY. They used and abused you time and time and time again. Not to mention the Transcripts Lim and Benedict Ernst level GHEY OPS they all ran for months and months on you. Or is it years now? And you will welcome them back?

You calling yourself Caesar is more poignant than you know. You when welcome your own destruction it is hard for me to muster up any empathy for you, Ethan. Alas, as always, you won't be able to process these words over what your definition of forgiveness is. I will always wish only the best for you and yours. Even when you've pissed me off to no end, and I gave up on CG, entirely, for 3+ months, I still did. In fact, you are the very reason I came back. YouTube kept recommending your videos to me and I finally just clicked on one again and just sucked back in.

What you call hate I see as common f*(king sense. I do not hate Smiller The Smug or Nasser The Sociopath. I just want absolutely nothing to do with either of them. They have displayed who and what they are succinctly and on scores of occasions. How many scores of times are you going to fall for the same BS? At this point, you might as well start wearing Clown Makeup every episode because these Scorpions in skin suits are gonna treat you as one. Again.

Please wake TF up, EVS. Do not let your YUGE heart override common sense. They are the flip side of Mags and Antos. Would you ever welcome those Ankles into your circle? Ever, ever, ever? How many times, and how many people, are you going to allow to use you as human Toilet Paper and laugh it off as it was just a goof/mistake? They never have been. It was: malicious, intentional, and done out of jealousy and spite. Week after week, month after month. Is it not years now? It has all gone by so fast, I am not even sure anymore. I do not comprehend how you fail to see these "people" for what they are.

Anyway, God Bless and much love to you and yours. This will be the last time I try to convey this to you. I am in the double digits in attempts now, for sure.

___END___

As far as I can tell, it's less about Mike and more about the people who came with him, who felt disenfranchised by Mike's disenfranchisement. Those people seemed happy to see Mike and I come to terms of agreement, and begin healing. That's what matters.

If there's an hysteria about Mike immediately being let back into my "inner circle" to "betray me once more," those people should understand. It's ALWAYS about the customers for me. Every single time.

AFTERLIFE WITH NASSER #9 - SMILLER, EVS, COMICSGATE #MALINMILITIA

"Afterlife with Nasser" is a new vlogging series by the born again Comicsgater @NasserRabadi13, named in tribute of his nemesis Liam. The reference is quite a direct one, going so far as to make Liam's meltdown over Nasser returning to CG the introduction clip. Nasser gets right to it, plugs Lonestar and at the two minute mark Smiller is brought in for the scheduled interview. Mike immediately vents his grievances with Nasser predicating some of Mike's statements with "if what he says is true" and the circumstances of Nasser having his mod wrench removed from Mike's youtube channel. Once that "pressing issue" is resolved the show goes on for a fairly amiable reading of chats, a sedate mix of people yelling their suspicions of Mike and Nasser, mocking Liam along with promotions of active crowdfunds. At 10:20, one of Mike's many children appears in the background with a stick to poke at his sibling.

1605627194653.png

At 11 minutes in, the real topic is finally broached as "Gigadeath the Graphic Novel" calls upon Mike to move past the grudges and grievances of before and let Comicsgate into his heart once more. To renounce the yoke of his past and be free (of debt). Nasser agrees. Mike asks if there's a way he can be "CG Adjacent". Nasser says no. Miller then says since Comicsgate is a fan movement by his definition and since Mike is a creator and not a fan, he cannot be Comicsgate - creators can cater to and be answerable to Comicgate fans as per its stated principles, but cannot be CG themselves . Nasser says "come on man, just be Comicsgate again". Mike threatens to leave the stream if this was all just a set up for Nasser to perform Comicsgate missionary work to which Nasser replies it totally wasn't, but unrelated he also doesn't have anything else planned and uh, he was just going off what the chat said who all really want him back. The topic returns to some product promotion which placates an increasingly irate Smiller.

Nasser then opts to try and boil this lobster gradually as discussion of product like their respective works segues into craft, and the craft of creating comics naturally moves into the subject of marketing and selling them, and how this would all be much easier if Mike just declared himself Comicsgate again like Nasser did. Mike says he will not recant, but the chink in his armor of wanting to debate online shows itself and Nasser moves to strike. Mike cites the injustice that Thomas Morya: Wizard for Hire by Celina Hernandez, an extremely impressive debut comic under the CG banner that is doing even worse that Lonestar 3 and that disproves the so called benefit of declaring oneself Comicsgate; the only real benefit of declaring Comicsgate is access to Frog's platform. Nasser doesn't have an argument for this on hand and buys for time byr trashing Donal and his latest excuse for not fulfilling Brutas the Badass. It works as Mike joins in on laughing at Donal's inept cuck ass. There's some more discussion at 46 minutes on Mike's end about the difficulty of writing, drawing, inking and coloring an entire book with the level of "extreme detail" that Thomas Morya boasts on a 13,000 dollar budget and how an average of $270 a page before costs isn't worth the amount of labor involved.

At 1:04:20 some color commentary was provided on the value of Smiler's input on such matters.

1605634877968.png

Thrilled, Nasser obediently offers to send Frog the link and "get the band back together". Miller is visibly uncomfortable at the suggestion but too polite to give Nasser a "if he's on I leave" ultimatum, opting instead to say he doesn't want a front row seat to watch Nasser's asskissing. Nasser has no idea what he's talking about but just thinks it would be awesome if they were both on. The chat pushes for it and Frog promises that the two of them can just talk about comics and things don't have to get "homotional" . Mike relents, much to the host's delight. Frog hops on and, true to his word at first, starts talking about hot button comic book industry news about DC Comics' sinking fortunes and their rumored plans to cease making physical comics at some point early next year. For a brief window in time (1:16:30) all three panelists settled into old grooves as Mike, Nasser and Frog bantered about SJWs and bitcoins as if the last year an a half never happened. Frog even held his tongue when Mike proclaimed that he's only bought more bitcoin.

The subject of "business" is pursued and with a veiled insistence, the performance of Lonestar 3's campaign relative to previous campaigns as well as relative to other CG and CG-adjacent crowdfunds is broached. Paraphrasing, Frog's argument is that, not unlike a band, CG creators are stronger together than they are as solo acts and that at the end of the day no one person can claim ownership of the group's fans, not even the lead. Mike protests that he wants people to be hist customer because they like his books, not because he's popular or they like his marketing. Nasser argues that customers can buy his product for whatever reason they want and it's only Mike's business to ensure that they sell period. Thomas Morya and how the success that Mike feels the comic clearly merits is touched upon again, but Frog flips that around as another example of how important marketing any product is, good or bad, adding that Mike enjoys 28 years of established reputation as a comic book artist that Celina Hernandez simply does not, that Comicsgate needs established veterans like Mike to help advocate for prospects like Celina Hernandez and that he can't do it all by himself.

At 1:36:00, things start getting to brass tacks as Mike and Frog start debating over the definition of what Comicsgate even is. Mike's argument, to reiterate, is that Comicsgate is a customer-driven movement with stated principles and proscriptions outlined by the original "OGCG" inceptors who were customers, detailing a value system and terms with which they will patronize publishers and creators who had proved themselves as a class to be increasingly abusive and dismissive towards the customer. As Mike is a creator who receives money from Comicsgate customers, he cannot be CG himself. Frog's definition is more broad and nebulous, describing the movement as a reaction to encroaching "cancel culture" that secured positions in the comic book industry to impose their ideology and drive it into the ground, concluding that this movement encompasses both fan and creator and that the "CG principles" themselves are merely a small part of a greater phenomenon. "Comicsgate" at the end of the day was just a convenient label applied to both fan and creator by SJWs that was then redefined and repurposed by the labelled. It's an interesting debate and actually one that is a reversal of Smiller's position with Testefy last week regarding ideals versus reality.

Mike delves into the history of how it was Frog who decided for himself that "creators can be Comicsgate" and an increasingly impatient Frog accuses Smiller of quibbling over semantics and asks if he wants to own the SJWs or not and if he does he should get in the boat, pussy. Matthew Fowler, author of Seicho 66 says in the chat that @TheCosmicWarrior Jon del Arroz should be brought on to clear this out because he started Comicsgate to fight the satanic pedowood cabal (JDA didnt respond to DMs though). Nasser interrupts to ask what kind of weirdo would admit to liking Donal? Testefy_HD spends 2 dollars to ask if he can be Comicsgate again too. Frog says no.

It's at around 1:47:00 that the elephant in the room is addressed about the various accusations, claims that Mike "hates the customers now" and spite campaigns have had on his own business, which Frog at first brushes off saying that it doesn't matter what someone defines Comicsgate as and that Mike is welcome to his own personal interpretations but that at the end of the day his interests are best served by coming back returning to "the show." But Smiller is still reticent, saying he would rather people read his books than pay him money. Nasser says he needs money to live, he doesn't need people to read his books. Additionally, Frog claims that he doesn't remember vowing to destroy Mike as Mike claims, but if he did he was sorry and that he probably meant it as a joke. At two hours in, Frog goes for broke and decides to formally apologizes for conduct he says was done in anger, that he regrets it and that he sincerely hopes he considers coming back because Mike leaving hasn't done anyone good, least of all Mike. Mike accepts the apology and offers apologies for things said in spite, like that time he posted a frog being vivisected alive on pieman's twitter. Nasser checks Lonestar 3 and it has passed $14k

At 2:10:00 Frog reflects over the past year of blood and infighting and has asked himself if any of it was worth it, if any of it led to anything good or help him achieve any of his goals. He is forced to conclude 'no', and that none of this furthered his dream of building a team of talented comic creators able to forge careers in opposition to the mainstream. Many people left, but now more people like Davis, Fraga, Rocafort and soon Bill Willingham are on board and that if there was no bad blood or history between the two he can't imagine that Miller would not want to be on board himself. Mike shows visible delight at the idea of Willingham being CG. In this growing spirit of CG Anmesty, at 2:18:12 Frog expresses his hope that even @VIkkiVerse might come around some day and even though he doesn't know what her deal is, she seems to have a voice and he would like it if that voice supported Comicsgate as well. PixelTraitor in the chat asks if he should get IndieCron going again too.

Nasser closes the stream by reading superchats and sharing his giddy elation about healing this rift in Comicsgate once again while Mike and Frog express unease and discomfort after inviting someone back they exchanged mutual vows of hatred with for a full year. Frog says that whatever Mike chooses, he's glad he's been able to get this off his chest and that no matter what choice he makes, he's grateful to have know Smiller. Mike says he will have to pray on this before reaching a decision, but he accepted it as a legitimate apology. This historical stream is then closed by sharing a very symbolic art piece.

Now, in my opinion all this was the easiest part. The much more difficult next step of trying to reverse and deprogram the year of near daily anti-Smiller conditioning of the average Comicsgater is just beginning. It may not be possible. Nasser has a better chance at rehabilitation because the main ringleaders behind seeing him out are no longer in Comicsgate themselves.

I've forgiven Mike, and apologized to Mike, and I'm just going to move forward without the negative feelings towards him.
Healthy, that shits a poison cup and nothing good comes of it.

Not so healthy, this person needs to take a walk, unless he lives in DC or NYC, then he needs to avoid the coof.
As far as I can tell, it's less about Mike and more about the people who came with him, who felt disenfranchised by Mike's disenfranchisement. Those people seemed happy to see Mike and I come to terms of agreement, and begin healing. That's what matters.
Good for you
If there's an hysteria about Mike immediately being let back into my "inner circle" to "betray me once more," those people should understand. It's ALWAYS about the customers for me. Every single time.
In this case, it's also good for you. Be healthy Ethan, let go of resentments. Good luck on RBB.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. While I rarely hold out hope, nothing makes me happier for those on the dark path of tism to turn it around. Mr. Dongs, thank you for the bounty you continue to bestow.

That said, the harvest of salt from @Tyne is going to be glorious. Sorry, I am a Kiwi.

Yesterday was good for continuing to heal the rifts in ComicsGate.

Part of me thinks the plan with Nasser and Mike is to manufacture some more drama so you can kick them out again. If you think the response is bad now wait until you try to bring Ro and Pan back.
