Jeezus, another Vampirella cover campaign.
View attachment 1453988
This one featuring Cecil, and "drawn" by Donal Delay. I thought the Mindy Wheeler one was the worst until now. FFS, stop doing these!!!

But, fools & their money....

Bonus: Donal admits he can't draw girls' faces (there's a lot more wrong with this one than just the faces, Donal!), & that he put out bad work (just because?)
I'm not sure if the "thought he would've gotten Anna" guy is trolling or stupid. There's no accounting for taste, I guess.
Why the fuck would Cecil ask Anna? Her art is horrible.
I'm not saying Donal is some great artist but he does fairly decent cartoon style line work and his pages are visually interesting.
This cover needs more boobs and less Cecil. WHY would anyone want another fucking old ass copy of Vampirella #1 with a fat retard on the cover?
I underestimate the stupidity of the paypigs every single time. The piggies willingness to pay for literally anything these moronic internet personalities shit out shouldn't surprise any of us now.
Theres multiple $100 tiers of CGC graded Cecil covers.
Dynamite at this point should change their logo to a picture of CWC and call everything "sonichu tier your 'OC' here!"
Cecil is just a copy of some idiotic 70's sitcom character no one remembers. Just like TUG is "the question" with an umbrella co. Logo on his face. Low effort hucksters.
At this point im tempted to buy an old Alf puppet, put shutter shades on it and start making hot takes youtube videos while doing drugs.

Yeah I don't get this at all. It's basically an insult to the fans telling them "yeah we know you'll buy anything we tell you to but we're not even going to try now. Give us another hundo sucker."

Hell at least they could've made it a Donal campaign since he did all the work.

I skimmed the past few pages and couldn't see anything about SGM's Plotholes, has the ending of the campaign been discussed?

It finished on a quarter million, which is pretty good! If it wasn't for Twitter BS I bet he'd be on at least £300k. The decision to quit twitter, whether it came from him or DC saying "the retards wanna cancel you but you're a piñata which gives us money and good comics, maybe deleted?", was a good one.

I don’t think it has been discussed. It’s worth noting that they very much made it seem like once it was closed it was closed. They gave no indication they were going inDemand until after the campaign ended. My guess is that they were hoping forced scarcity would drive sales, and when they still didn’t break 300k they decided to keep it open.

EVS did a stream the other day talking about SGM’s statement about “The Plot Holes Model” which he pointed out were all things EVS discussed doing in the past.

I'd have been delighted with SGMs quarter million dollars and The Plot holes would have been considered a success had he not stated before launching he expected to make 500-800k.

Paying 10 dollars to ship something you paid $40 or $50 for is a much easier pill to swallow than paying that same $10 to have a $10 comic shipped to you.

Can I get an American to explain why shipping is so expensive over there, I get shipping of a couple quid for internal floppies, trades and hardbacks off Kickstarter in Blighty?

Even got a fat stack of trades off of forbidden planet with £5 shipping.

The UK is very small and America is very big.

It's NOT expensive. Its actually very cheap to ship comics these CG faggots just overcharge because it's an easy way to fleece the paypigs.

Its the same price to ship a comic to Alaska as it is to ship it to your next door neighbor. Shipping a Gemini mailer with a bag and boarded comic or TPB inside costs a few bucks at most.

SGM tried playing both sides of the fence and it hurt his sales. He should have listened to EVS and didn't. His loss.

And shipping it to your nextdoor neighbour in the US costs about three times as much as doing the same in the UK, because we don't have to subsidise people shipping stuff to Alaska. That's not to say that Kickstarter people aren't padding the shipping costs, they absolutely are, but USPS is a lot more expensive than Royal Mail just because of the logistics of sending shit across an entire continent rather than just a piddly little island.

$25 is the generally accepted minimum for Comicsgate crowdfund projects and for a good reason; CG has not found a way of shipping product to individual backers in a way that makes selling $5-10 comics cost effective. Since periodicals are the most accepted format of comic books, this is somewhat of a problem. Let's take a look a this in practice by contrasting calculated tier results vs stated crowdfund total to see where the money is going on shipping.

Paying 10 dollars to ship something you paid $40 or $50 for is a much easier pill to swallow than paying that same $10 to have a $10 comic shipped to you. A lot of trial and error has resulted in the general consensus that products worth at least $25 are what get the customer interested. Comicsgate's problem is a lack of creators able to reliably and regularly make, market and deliver something that is convincingly worth a $25 price tag.

Let's contrast this against another campaign, Vestige #2.

View attachment 1453742

Although WC proclaims to have many dedicated funders at the highest level, 56% of backers backed Vestige at the minimum level ($25) available, who also forming the plurality (23%) of Vestige's funding. In comparison, the top fifth of Vestige #2's backers contributed over half of Vestige's total funds for perks like original art pages, being featured in the comic and limited editions. Telling is the difference between equally priced tiers "Two Copies of Vestige 2" (8 backers) and "Vestige 1 & 2" (59 backers) combined with the majority of backers at the minimum level all allude to legitimate interest in Vestige itself as opposed to speculators or collectors of the Warcampaign brand.

Now let's compare this to something that is indisputably based on a personality cult: Another Case of the Littlest Umbrella

View attachment 1453839

In contrast to Vestige, the ACotLU crowdfund was primarily funded (66%) by the top third of his backers who put up a minimum of $100. Like other successful campaigns, TUG was sure to put $25 as the minimum contribution. One curiosity is that, at the $25 dollar tier, purchases were overwhelmingly for the LUG drawn cover, but sales for either cover were neck and neck on any other tier.

Finally, we have Cyberfrog: Rekt Planet

@Analog Devolved was right when he pointed out the massive $500,000 Executive Honeycomb tier component, of CF:RP's million - but it works out to this one tier forming nearly two thirds of the campaign's revenue while also consisting of a plurality of the backers. The entry-level $25 tier is still available, but more people have bought the full honeycomb box set than anything else.
Small correction, the Ides of March cover sold around 2300 copies. It was the highest seller on the first day of the campaign.

John Malin claimed to overcharge domestic buyers so that he wouldn't have to charge foreign buyers the real shipping cost. Pretty shady way to appear virtuous, but at least he admitted it, unlike these others SoBs. But perhaps they need to do it that way after they riled up their autists to criticize TenNapel charging foreign buyers close to actual cost for shipping hardcover books international.

I say put America First, but is that even a popular sentiment? It's only won like one major election...

Malin is a fucking retard.
Postal rates rarely ever change for domestic US shipping. It's very easy to know the exact shipping costs before the campaign even starts.
They overcharge shipping to line their own pockets. It's free money. They throw the comic in a ziploc baggie and toss it in the mail. The paypigs will never understand this though. To the CG cult piggies this is just smart business yasss king slayyyy.
Fuck the international buyers. If you want that shit shipped to Timbuktu or some -stan country then pay for it. Don't expect US backers to slush fund shipping to Bulgaria.

Overcharging the vast majority of backers for a small, small segment. He's just trying to make an extra buck. Most shipping expenses (tape and mailers) can be bought out of pocket, but even if you dont, shipping shouldnt be $10 for a $35 book 60 page book.

The usual suspects are NOT happy about this. Dynamite Comics is getting cancelled. Or some such thing.

Is the dude aware that Twitter asspats don't pay the bills? Dynamite probably wasn't much of his business anyway, but he can afford to leave cash on the table?

Where's Mark Waid when you need him? 🤔

These people are putting more money in Cecil's pocket than he is.

After a much-needed vacation following his previous victories over Comicsgate, SJW Spiderman is back in the game baby!

Is this Frog's birthday?
It's great isn't it? The Gail Simone's of the world being called out for not leaving the last employer who would have them! Bankrupt yourselves for the cause bitches, or else! Cancel themselves or be canceled.

Will she ever admit that this is her last avenue to pay the bills?
